Went great. I am not tech savvy. I don?t want ?remote? service, and I find that the ?geniuses? at the Apple store don?t give you enough time and often don?t fix the problem. So, I really like the relaxed, thoughtful and patient service that Jason provides. No question seems too stupid for him to answer! This is the second time he?s helped out and I am very grateful to be able to write this review without screaming at my computer.
Description of Work: Fixed my Mac Air notebook. It was slow, slow, slow, unresponsive and gmail was a nightmare. Jason also taught me how to find and view photos stored on my iPhone, and how to mass-delete old gmails.

I had a particularly bad infection from Cyti Web that was blocking web-pages, videos and redirecting to all kinds of other sites. I could do nothing but see email on my pc. Jason came by and removed the virus, getting rid of files on my hard drive that told me "authorization from the administrator" was necessary in order to delete them. I'm the administrator and found it impossible to get rid of them! Thanks Jason.
Description of Work: removed Cyti-web by Yontoo virus from computer.

Jason came on time. He was patient and spent time talking to us and explaining the reasons for our slow computer. He does nolt watch the clock. Jason treats a customer with respect and makes sure that all concerns are taken care of before leaving. He is accessible by phone for a customer's questions. We would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: Cleaned up the computer, increased the speed, uninstalled programs. Performed speed test and ran CCleaner. Gave advice about moving our Internet provider and answered many questions. He gave the computer a very good tune-up.

Jason is very pleasant and intelligent. He's an approachable techie and a pleasure to work with. He arrived on time and got right to work. Both times he accomplished his tasks relatively quickly--unlike some computer guys I've had in the past.
Description of Work: Fixed several annoying computer problems. Scanned for viruses. This was his second visit and I have now asked to come next week for a completely different issue.

Jason is a nice young man, but a little out of his depth when it comes to troubleshooting. If you need someone to perform routine maintenance that you can't or don't have time to do yourself, he is your tech. However, if your PC really needs troubleshooting or serious attention, he may not be the one for you. He looks on the net for solutions, which quite frankly is what I tend do myself. If I can't find the answer on-line, that is when I reach out to a tech. His rate is below the average, and he was fair with his pricing. Since he could not solve most of my issues, he did cut his fee. He did try but he needs more troubleshooting experience and/or training. Overall, it was not an unpleasant experience, he just really could not help us.

After being without internet for five days, and learning that our usual tech support firm could not service us for another five days, I contacted Techease Consulting which I found on Angie's list. Jason answered my call immediately and happened to be in my neighborhood and came over in 20 minutes. He figured out new solutions to new as well as longstanding problems with our internet. We were very impressed with him and will use him in the future.
Description of Work: He got our internet up and running again, not only in the areas of the apartment where it had previously been accessible but in areas which previously had not had internet.

Chase Quicken Intuit demonstrates that Techease did the "Impossible" as described above. Chase Quickin-Intuit in 2, 3 way Conferences were actually learning from what Jason, the Provider was able to do. A true "David and Goliath" disturbing story from the 3 Companies that Jason wound up teaching until he could go no further without basic information from Chase Quicken Intuit. I would say without any reservation, Techease is where you want to be.
Description of Work: The Provider did close to the Impossible working against JP MORGAN Chase and Intuit, the developer of Quicken Financial Package. The Provider , Jason has done what either Company I listed has been unable to accomplish since August. I posted his extremely reasonable charges as "Approximate" since following a 3 way Conference call, the 2 above Companies were unable to repair the damage to my Computer and so admitted on Line in August promising a "Fix" by September 18 and not a thing was "Fixed" to date. Provider, Jason did what Chase and Intuit were unable to accomplish and, at lease got me to a point whereby I am able to use my Register on Newly Purchased Version 13, which has Crashed, however I promised Chase-Quicken Intuit what was recorded by Chase on 12/06/13 by Executive Personne l to CEO Jamie Diamond! Jason literally preformed Magic to get me, at least able to pay bills Via Register. Tax Time information is Corrupted beyond repair admittedly by Chase-Quicken any time soon. Jason now serves as my "Lifeline" and read between the lines when looking for a Computer Specialist. An A+++

Today, I came home to find that Yahoo changed its Screen that was unrecognizable. Jason, on his way out, came to the phone and he walked methrough the New Screen Via Remote quickly in just three minutes, with no time to spare as Jason was rushing to an Emergency Client. He "Killed Two Birds with one Stone." Both I must assumewere delighted. I sure was. I am happy to Recommend Techease Consulting without any reservations."A call on my answering Machine from a "Dave," last name illegible, from Chase's "Research Department Ironically at 539Pm today 10/8/13 because I was sick and tired of their incompetence , promises and nothing fixed. I called The Chairman last Friday again after 4 months of stagnation. The biggest issue that I am going to have Jason "Attack" deals with Chase Bank above, just mentioned, and Quicken both have admitted on line in bright red that "It's Our Fault," not yours! In July and August Chase admitted Via 3 Reps all the way to the top, Jamie Dimon not been able to fix the issue let alone "Work On it!" Ironically at 5:39PM I got a call as a result of my call again to Chairman Dimon, from a "Dave "Dulane?" On Line Research at 877-7479125, Ext 1290812. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say since August Chase and Quicken have failed to correct their admitted "SERVER PROBLEM" with Quicken that has caused such havoc to me and so many Millions. They should have called on Jason Luft and asked his opinion regarding the matter. I can only say to your readers. Do not go any farther than Techease for your Computer work, whether it be Hard or Software. There is nobody better and I have been exposed to many and their attempts to "Talk Around" to an unsuspecting Client who knows nothing. These people get what they pay for in so many cases, ZERO. I am more than happy to recommend by phone or by email without reservation. Jason Luft is A+++++ and far ahead of most others in my opinion. Thank you for this opportunity to see that Computer users in "Need" are dealt with fairly and honestly.
Description of Work: I am a Medical Professional who has practiced for over 45 years. Techease Consulting Owned and operated by Mr. Jason Luft is one of the most Honorable, thorough, reasonable in price and always available almost at a moment's notice. I say that because, if he is involved with another Client, he will not let you "Hang" with pretty "Elevator Music," but will take a quick call and advise a client that he will be contacted and the time he expects to make contact. Jason will not pick up the phone if in a rather urgent matter and let the Machine take the message which he is able to monitor for the purpose of urgency. In this Profession, and I say "Profession" rather than "Business" because Jason Luft is just that, "A Professional." Not a Professional "BS'R." He will evaluate your issue and give you a very fair and reasonable expectation of what he can do with your matter and provide an Estimate of the cost usually in hours or by the Job, which makes the most sense for both parties so that "Downtime, if any at all will be discussed before proceeding with a job, no matter how big or small. I have been delighted that Jason is able to repair many Software difficulties and/or train a Client Via "Remote Desktop" which allows him to work on your Computer from his Office without leaving and repairing, changing or just "Tweaking" some problems in your Office or Home. This feature alone is a major Plus that Techease offers.

I had avoided dealing with some of my computer issues because I had had some disappointing experiences with so-called consultants in the past - guys who didn't resolve the problems and may have even created new ones. Since I had joined Angie's List recently and had very good luck with a dishwasher purchase and installation, I decided to check out the computer consultants. Techease had very good reviews, so I called the 718 # on a Sunday evening. On Monday morning Jason Luft, the owner/operator of Techease called me back, and we set up an appointment for Tuesday. Jason showed up promptly, was very personable and knowledgeable - all-in-all, very professional. He immediately got to work as I sat with him and peppered him with questions, all of which he answered very patiently and in a manner that was understandable to someone who clearly is not a techie. He explained to me everything that he did, and it was great to watch my computer start running faster as he worked. The session was not at all rushed, although it would appear from the number of messages he had coming in that he's in demand. I'm glad that I contacted Jason and relieved that my computer is running much better and backing up properly. I think his fees are very reasonable and will not hesitate have him back to work on some other non-urgent tech issues in my apt.
Description of Work: He did a thorough review of my computer's systems - cleaning things up so it runs much faster, fixing both online and local backup and made sure my security setup runs better by deleting unnecessary programs. He also checked my wi-fi and set it up for me on my new smartphone.

My 6 week old Dell computer self destructed (software wise) after a Java Update. I was on the phone with a person from Dell (in India ) for over an hour and a half and they could not fix it. I called Jason (this was Friday after 5PM). He said he would rearrange his schedule to come on Monday. He arrived as scheduled and was able to get the whole system running again. He tried really hard to retrieve my data, but unfortunately he couldn't get that. I was so happy to have him here... he is a treasure. I recommend him very highly!

I was quite pleased with Techease Consulting. My contact was apparently out of town the first week of January 2013, so we briefly played phone tag while trying to set up an appointment for the week of the 17th. I explained what I needed him to do; he told me his 2-hour minimum new customer fee and what it would cost per hour should it take longer than two hours. We finally came up with a mutually agreeable day and time and all was set. I was juggling 3 different appointments that day and Techease was last on my agenda. To my surprise he showed up half an hour early, which was fine by me. He was young, polite, professional. He seemed to know his business and set to work immediately, taking his cues from me as I explained the tasks I needed him to perform. Actually, I had set my network up properly but I needed to be sure. For several months my computer had been displaying an annoying message when I booted up and I asked him to look into it. Once that was fixed we added the DVR to the network and he checked to make sure my anti-virus suite was protecting everything as it should. Those few things only took him 20 or 30 minutes so I asked him if he could set up my phone to send and receive e-mail from my home account. He was finished with everything in under 40 minutes. Obviously, I didn't ask him to do anything too difficult. But I got the impression there wasn't much he couldn't do with a computer. Sure, the $120 two-hour minimum was a lot for what I had done. But it was a relief to have everything up and running at long last. I won't hesitate to call Techease again when I run into computer problems again.
Description of Work: Made sure my new wireless network was up and running correctly and was properly protected by my anti-virus suite. Reinstalled my printer software and downloaded latest printer driver and added printer to the wireless network. Added new DVR to network as well. Lastly, the techperson "played" with my smart-phone enabling it to receive e-mail from home and work.

As one who is not a techie, but who knows a little bit about computers --- just enough to get myself in trouble J --- I hold Jason in the highest regard. I expect to call on him again as the need arises. I?m completely satisfied with his performance in every way.
Description of Work: Jason setup a new Dell all-in-one computer for me, installed software, migrated data to it from an old computer which was on its last legs, connected the new computer to my existing peripherals and my home network, configured a new router which replaced an obsolete one and troubleshot a number of issues. He had to return more than once because Dell had neglected to place in the box with the computer the license documentation for the Office 2013 program that I had purchased along with the computer. The software could not be installed until Dell snail mailed the license to me.

I am very satisfied with the work overall. The Mac is perfect - I am using it right now and I love it! The only problem I still encounter is that when I use my PC the cursor occasionally jumps from one box to another while I am typing. I have heard this is sometimes a glitch with IE 9 and will probably call Jason at some point to ask about it. I consider it a minor inconvenience because other than that, the PC is working faster than it ever has with no issues. Currently I use my Mac 99.9% of the time and only use my PC when I have to access specific documents that I did not transfer over to the Mac. I did not install Windows on my Mac because I am crazy when it comes to security. It is rare, but sometimes there can be security issues when you use both operating systems on a Mac. However, I use Windows applications on my Mac (Home and Office) and they work perfectly. Before I found TechEase Consulting on Angie's List, I hired two online companies that guaranteed they would fix my PC remotely. Both companies offer low cost annual software repair packages and virus removal service. Both companies also offer software service via remote access. If I recall, both companies offer unlimited phone support. And here's the best part...they save you money because for one low price you get a years worth of service and don't have to pay on a call by call basis. Sounds great, right? But wait...you get what you pay for. The first company was "Supportrix" referred to me by Linksys my router manufacturer. The other was Norton - I purchased the "Norton 360" which included software maintenance and virus removal service. Technicians from Norton and Supportrix worked on my computer like mad over the course of a week. They claimed they can handle my PC problems from a distance (a real long distance - we're talking overseas call centers). Norton had their techies on my computer every day during that week. On one of those days (a Saturday) the tech said he would complete the work and have Explorer 9 up and running in 2 hours. They started at 11 am and were still on my computer at midnight. I'm not joking. Thirteen hours. And after all that they still could not install Explorer IE 9. While they were working on my laptop, each technician had remote access and I would see them moving the cursor around and then they would go to sleep, no cursor movement at all! I had to "wake them up" by clicking on my computer and suddenly they would spring back to life and I'd see them working again. Lucky it was a slow Saturday and I was home. Supportrix was no better. Neither company had any competent technicians Every time they tried to install IE9 it defaulted back to IE 8 and both companies made my PC run slow...slow...slower. And neither Norton nor Supportrix could remove the malware/virus from the PC. My advice? If your PC runs very slow, has malware and/or IE installation problems, why take chances? Don't try to save money using technicians from call centers from around the world. Go LOCAL and get hands-on help. These remote packages may be bargain basement but in the end I know it was not worth a minute of my time - time I can't get back. I am very happy I found Techease Consulting and will use Jason again. He is very knowledgable and experienced and answers any questions you may have. My computers are up to speed and so far so good. Thanks, Jason!
Description of Work: I am sorry I didn't review Jason's work earlier but oh well I have had a zillion contingencies to take care of. I am extremely happy with my experience with Jason. He came to my house, spent about 4 hours here, set up my brand new Macbook for me and backed up all documents to my external drive. He also repaired my HP laptop PC, which had malware and a horrible virus that brought p**** to my screen when I clicked on a link. He used my Windows 7 DVD, erased the hard drive and reinstalled Windows on the PC. He reinstalled all the software (Flash, Reader, Office, Java, MS Security Essentials) and copied all documents back. With regard to the Mac, he installed all the programs (including Office for Mac and Flash) and gave me general consulting. He set backups on both computers. Also, there was a serious problem installing IE Explorer 8 onto my PC because of the virus and the "remote" companies were unable to do it successfully (see below). For all this work, Jason included the Angie's List 20% discount and the final total was $256.

My son-in-law's 3-year old Dell mini tower PC wouldn't power up just weeks after it was out of warranty. Since I used to manage hardware maintenance for a living, he called me. I looked up 3 well-rated contacts on Angie's List near the Bronx where he lives and Brooklyn where I live since he was willing to bring the PC to whoever would fix it. Techease was the only one who agreed to diagnose and fix the problem. The others speculated that it might be either the power supply or system board (both of which we already suspected) and advised him to call elsewhere or consider buying a new PC since it may not be cost effective to fix a 3-year old unit. Basically, they were of no help. Techease diagnosed the problem within 3 days and ordered a new power supply which took approximately 10 days to be delivered. Today my son-in-law picked up the PC which works beautifully again. In my experience, the price for labor and replacement part was very fair.
Description of Work: Computer repair. PC would not power up. Techease diagnosed problem and installed new power supply.

Jason Luft is a computer wiz. It's that simple. There isn't much he can't do. He was prompt and his price was fair. I will be using him again to help set up a web site in the near future.
Description of Work: Jason first came to the house and helped me with some computer training. He was patient and well informed. The next visit he helped me with a fairly complicated job of publishing an e-book. He works quickly and is able to figure out solutions no matter what the issue appears to be.
