the gentlman who came called bfore arriving, per my request.my oven and fridge both had issues. as it turned out, the oven needed to be replaced and the fridge was a simple plug.instead of charging me for both appliances,i was only charged for one. it only took 5 minutes to fix. then i asked for a quick recommendation on what kind of appliances i should get to replace the old ones. i listened to his advice, now 2 mnths later i'm happy as a clam. more than a repairman. he was a gentleman and scholarly. A definite winner. dd his job

Service was quick and efficient. The technician was very knowledgeable, he drove to obtain the required part and returned within 15 minutes. Refrigerator is now working with no problems

After experiencing problems with my heater I called Universe. The were here right after I called. Although they had to come three times each person was thorough and knowledgeable. The people in the office were terrific. I had to install a new gas heater and hot water heater. They were great.

My husband met with the serviceman and had no complaint. Task completed.

The salesman went into details explaining the units. He also gave the advantages of hiring them for service. While the job was being completed we had one complaint they came in a couple of days and fixed to our satisfaction.

It was a quick repair requiring the replacement of the switch. The service man came prepared with the part and the job was completed in approximately half an hour.

They do excellent work and have done so far, but this last experience was not good. I had a belt on the dryer replaced and the final cost was close to $250 which was quite the excess of what I expected. Even though I bought the Deal, I was still charged ~$89 to just come and do the estimate, and they did not credit that charge towards the final cost. After I spoke with the company about it, they took the amount I paid for the coupon off taking the final cost, out of my pocket, down to around $150. The staff are very courteous, friendly and professional, and overall I was satisfied because they fixed the issue, but I thought the price, before contacted them, was unnecessarily high. The bottom line is, they took care of the issue right away and I would use them again and recommend their work.

I checked Angie's list and picked this company because of hte reviews and called. the receptionist was very cordial and got a next day appointment. The tech showed up within the time frame and said that both the valves we were having problem with needs to be replaced and he checked it and replced them. Also replaced the pressure valve on the water heater which was leaking. the work was good and my problem is resolved. My only and major concern was the cost. I had 2 zone valves replaced and one pressure valve, and one thermostat. All were done on the same visit and within a couple of hours. but I was charged for each job individually, the price i would have paid if i had gotten only that job done which is not al all fair. this has cost me a lot of money, than if i had gone with a licenced plumber who would charge me the labor by the hour and for the parts. as the parts would not have costed more than 400.00. this had me very disappointed. I would get quotes from multiple sources, before deciding on going with this company.

The receptionist was very helpful, and the repairman showed up on time, he called to tell me that the problem was a blocked drain, total time spent probably 30 mins, total fee almost $200, ($175 with an angies list discount) considering the fact that the fridge cost $400, it was a sticker shock, moreso since I had been told that their work had a 1 year warranty when I scheduled the appointment. WRONG, apparently the warranty is only 3 months if they don't supply the parts, if I had known that from the beginning I would have picked a less expensive company locally. Hopefully the problem has been solved but if I need to service it again i will definitely look for a less expensive company

Called Universe for a gas heating problem (pilot would not stay lit). First cold night of season so I expected them to be busy. Received appointment for same day between 12 & 4 so took the afternoon off. Received call about 1 PM saying technician delayed due to problem on job and would be there between 2 and 5 PM. Jack the service technician came around 6:15 pm. Service went smooth and problem was solved. Jack was a professional and quickly diagnosed/corrected the problem (with the fault I suspected). Discussed service contract with me without sales pitch which I appreciated. Based on waying the pros/cons I opted for the contract which covered this visit. Overall very pleased with Universe particularly the call saying the technician would be delayed. Can't tell you how many times I have sat all day for a no show without any communication.

I n regards to the ductless ACl,: I had units installed in two second floor bedrooms, with a compressor (condenser?) outside of the house. Two men did the install. Any wiring or pipes that were run outside my house were cased within what looks like PVC, running along my house, which blends in with my siding. The men were professional and did a good job. One of the fan blades arrived with a broken clip. One of the installers called the issue in and Universe ordered the part. This was a seemingly trivial matter, as it did not impact the function of the unit and you could hardly notice it, visually. When spending such a large amount of money, however, you want it perfect! The part was replaced when my gas conversion took place. The ductless AC works very well, is a quality product, and appears to have been installed well. My only issue is that the installers said the wall units could not be mounted where the gentleman who gave me the estimate, said they could go (which was my suggested preference). In regards to the oil to gas conversion: This was a two day process- one to run the piping, another to take out and replace the boiler. Two men worked on each day, one of which was the same for both days. On the day of the piping, the men worked very hard. I had wanted the piping run through a ceiling crawlspace, as suggested by the gentleman who gave me the estimate. The installers did not think it could be done, certainly not easily. I allowed them to run the piping along the exterior of my house, instead, which was disappointing. They worked hard, but wound up causing a small whole in the sheetrock. The worker called in the damage, and I am in talks with a contractor that Universe has provided (at their cost) to make the repair. On the second day the oil boiler was removed and the new gas boiler was installed. No issues there. The men worked hard all day. The oil tank was removed by a company that Universe contracts with. I did not love them. They were rough with my lawn and leaked some oil on it. They also did not remove the plastic cover which hid it from being unsightly (this was not mentioned previously). This work was done on a Friday. National Grid was supposed to report on that day to connect the gas and tun on the boiler. There was some kind of misunderstanding/ scheduling issue between National Grid and Universe, as National Grid did not show up that day, leaving me without hot water for a weekend. When National Grid came that Monday, they were able to identify the boiler work as being Universe's because there was an emergency sprinkler installed in the boiler room (included in my contract). The National Grid worker said that he has not seen another company do that- a plus for Universe!!! I must say that Universe worked very well with me throughout the ups and downs of this entire process. I worked with Ahava in the office and she was very helpful. When the issue with National Grid arose, she offered to have an emergency water tank sent to my house. She also called me from her home. To ease the pain of the issue, I was given an additional year's service contract (on top of the one year included) for free. I did not mention my displeasure with the oil tank removal company or my frustration over not having the AC units installed where I was initially promised and the gas line not being run through the crawl space. They just didn't seem important enough. There was also some confusion with a gas line being run to my stove. Long story short, it wasn't run when the other gas lines were, so it will be run at a future date. Overall, I'm pleased with the work that Universe did, as it does appear to be quality. Universe does do their best to make sure the customer is satisfied and they try to fix any issues that arise. Ahava, from the office, was great to work with. The company should make sure that the people who give estimates are on the same page as the people who are doing the installing, otherwise expectations may not be met.

Central ac lost cooling ability out of nowhere. had ac off for over a week During hottest week last month when away on vacation. When I turned on the unit it would not cool. I didn't want to mess with it, that's when I called universal. They were professional, prompt to the appointment and followed through well. Technician was knowledgable and courteous. He assessed the situation which was challenging due to a wall that was blocking the unit. this could have turned out to be a big job because part of the wall would have to be cut out in order for him to pAtch up the leak. Rather, we decided it may be a small leak and took our chance by filling up with freon. It's been over a month and. My ac is working flawlessly.

There was an issue when they came to fix the refrigerator. Something was not adjusted properly and the technician left but he came back and fixed it right away. So I was very happy with that. Their price was good and I was very happy with them.

Told most of the story above. They left my basement clean and in order and even helped my husband ( who has trouble with a steady hand) to light or rather re-light the pilot lights on our stove. My impression was that they are part of a very good company and I hope to have many years of service from my new GAS FURNACE!! and UNIVERSE APPLIANCE

He was honest in telling what's wrong with my washing machine and that it would be better if I bought a new one. He was quick on his job and came on time.

My refridgerator is a GE Profile bottom freezer approximately 18 cubic sq. foot. It is about 7 years old. About 2 years ago the temperature in the ref. and freezer began to fluctuate. We kept trying to correct it with the thermostat but couldn't , so we called the GE service as we had an extended contract on the unit. The service tech came and changed the circuit board controling the fan which controls the thermostat but he used a reconditioned part to make the repair. About 15 months later the same problem occurred I called GE and when the service tech. came the day was very mild and the temperature in the refridgerator was pretty stable, the tech said he couldn't find anything wrong. I tried to explain that the same thing had happened before and the unit needed a new circuit board. Not so he stated and left. Since then we have been having the same problem , and now in the hotter weather it has gotten worse. My extended warentee has expired so I called Universal from your website. It seemes that we had used them before when we had an Amana refridgerator. They came the next day, I explained the problem to the service tech and hechecked out the unit. The fan was barely running and the side and under the unit was very hot. He had the necessary circuit board on his truck and made the repair, but this time he installed a new circuit board. He said he always carries at least two on his truck as it is a common problem with GE units, and he couldn't understand why they would use a reconditioned part. Universal only uses new parts and he showed me the part he removed that had a different number than the new replacement and that it was labled "reconditioned". A person at Universal called me twice telling me the tech was delayed because of the extent of his load that day someone called in sick and he was picking up extra stops, but he was only about 15 minutes outside of the time frame I was given. Besides Icalled on Friday afternoon and got an apointment the next day.so I was not upset by the minor delay. The problem was fixed and it is guarenteed for a year. The tech was very polite and worked quickly . He explained everything very throughly and worked very clean. I was very happy with the whole experience. From now on I'll stick to Sears Kenmore appliances, thoes I never have a problem with.

I call them on Tuesday and made an appointment for Friday between 11 and I believe 2. They called me a few hours later to ask if they could change the time to 8am. This was fine with me. On Friday, he showed up at exactly 8am. The gentleman looked at my washer and decided that I needed a new pump. He told me he could pick it up and come back that very day. He came back when he said he would and completed the job. I was very happy he was willing to come back at the end of the day to complete the job.

We have been using them for several years. The sales man who sold it to us is very pleasant. The technicians are very good and accommodating. My husband is impressed with them and my husband is not easy to impress.

Mike showed up on time and within 5 minutes of his starting work on the dishwasher he found the problem. He then told me that it wasn't worth the price of the repair to fix the machine and that buying a new one was a better move.

They came earlier than expected which was great finished the job when the part arrived overall good experience
