They got to me earlier than expected encountered a broken motor that blows heated air up through the vents , couldn't repair it, tried to order a replacement that would have taken several days to get, mind you this is in the dead of winter. They did find a local part after an extensive search came back the next morning and fixed everything. I was recuperating from back surgery and had difficulty walking they were very sympathetic and wanted me to not have to stay in a cold house any longer than the day I was without heat. I would recommend these folks unconditionally!

Hi. I could kick my self for not doing this sooner, when all the details where fresh in my mind. This is the second time we used Universe Appliance. And this experience was just as pleasant as last time. A nice gentleman came to to my home to inspect the gas burner for the winter. It was around Vetrans day, because he was a Vet from the Korean war. Anyhow, from the office staff to this gentleman, the whole staff was proffessional and polite. He was on time, stated who he was and went to work. He explained things about the heater and about cleaning the filters as he was examining the heater. He showed me that our filters were totally dirty and instructed me on where to get the best ones for our heater. Very pleasant man. I had an Angies List coupon, so we had a discount. I cant remember what the cost was though. It was comparable to other heating companies though. I would call them again. From the office to the service staff, they have all been honest and fair. I would use them again.

They told me it was not worth fixing, it would be cheaper to get a new one. They were honest. I enjoyed them. Any time anything goes wrong I call them. It was wonderful.

The tech arrived promptly; spent time checking the various parts and ensuring their integrity. I've also had a variety of installations done by them over the years. The phone staff is courteous. This past year I needed a major part replacement. The tech did not have the part on board. He called the office who contacted other techs in my area and one was delivered inside of an hour.

They job was done timely and as promised. Cleaned up and answered all my questions and concerns.

The gas company found the problem but doesn't do repairs. We called Universe at about 11:15-11:30 am. They promised us a service technician between 1:00-4:00 pm. Corey arrived about 12:45 pm. He was knowledgeable and professional. He looked at the problem and did a replacement of a faulty gas valve. He was done by about 2 pm. Great service, great repair work and a fair price. That's an "A" in my book.

I called Universe in the morning and was able to setup an appt. the same day. They sent Robert who was prompt, courteous, and thorough. They were the 5th company I called as I needed to 'know' what to do since I was clueless and did my due diligence in selecting the right company. Apparently, I had one of the worst oil guzzling 'coil' furnaces/water heater in my house. Another company, NH Ross, wanted to leave the oil guzzling furnace and just replace the oil starter to a gas one for nearly $4000! Another plumber wanted to scrap everything and put in a tankless Navien but then I found out that it wouldn't be enough for the size of my house. Universe and two other companies agreed that replacing everything with either the 82% eff. Burnam or 85% Buderus gas furnace w an indirect water heater was the best way. We ultimately went w Universe bc they could do next day(which they did), we wouldn't have to wait 2-4weeks as with other companies, AND they had financing which we were immediately approved for. Price wise, Universe would have been best price if we paid everything in a year but we opted for financing for five years. The work scope also included permits, stainless steel chimney liner, and oil tank removal. The crew who installed the next day were very professional and friendly. They came on time, worked throughout the day w/o a lunch break it seemed, and cleaned up everything! They were terrific. And the reason I called Universe was bc my neighbor highly recommended them. And I do as well! They really made the process super painless from start to finish.

Amazing service and excellent workmanship! The Universe heating system specialists are top-of-the-line professionals. They notify me the day before each appointment; they arrive on time; they are very polite; they explain their findings and solutions; and patiently answer all my questions. My tankless heating system was installed soon after Hurricane Sandy (November 2012 to January 2013). I had hired a piping and heating company from Brooklyn. Although they were nice guys, they failed to keep appointments (at times I waited all day and they never showed up) and I began to doubt the quality of their work. So, in February 2013, I hired Universe to fix a water leak on the main line to the heating system and to replace a sharkbite fitting on both hot and cold lines going to the boiler. This worker discovered that the initial plumbers used two red pipes instead of one red pipe for hot and one blue pipe for cold! This was the beginning of a discovery path of errors that Universe uncovered in the original installment of my tankless heating system. In October 2013, I hired Universe again, to conduct the Fall maintenance of my heating system. The specialist tightened a union on the supply line due to a minor water leak. In March 2014, I hired Universe again, to tighten previously repaired union due to a minor water leak. Finally, October 2014, during the Fall maintenance check, Universe discovered that the same union was leaking beyond tightening and replacement was necessary. They replaced the unions only to discover that the heating system failed to shut down as appropriate. Over the weekend, October 4th and 5th, three separate appointments and three different Universe specialists worked on this problem. Each one was able to resolve part of the problem. Finally, on October 6th, the Universe supervisor discovered that the root of the problem was caused by incorrect wiring of the zone relay and that the pressure gage was broken. I am forever grateful to Timothy, the supervisor, and his team of specialists. They are truly awesome!

The company was excellent. The repair man was very quick and efficient. He was on time and very punctual. I would recommend this company to anyone, I feel like they are very trust worthy.

The central A/C tune up went well. Very professional and friendly. Will definitely used them in the future.

A service rep came to our home and told my husband some sob story about not being able to do the work because our house was a cape and they couldn't install air conditioning and heating. In July, we got a professional to do the job and we are very pleased with the outcome.

salesman john was on time and very nice explained everything , laid everything out in detail answered all questions met him on saturday job was done monday (buderus gc124/25 gas boiler and rheem 50 gallon hot water tank) roughly 830-3pm oil tank removed pipes taken out from inside and outside as if i never had oil. guys were very respectful and work looked great my father is very handy and knowledgable and said work was done right no corners cut and they left there work area they way they arrived spotless. steel chimney liner goes in tuesday hopefully that all goes well and hopefully it is a good winter and no problems with the boiler or anything . thinking of doing central air next year and would def. use the company if there is no problems this winter.

This company is great. I have a contract for my heating and hot water with them so decided to use their plumbing service. I called them in the afternoon and the person that I spoke to initially was very professional and explained the whole process and scheduled an appointment for next day. Serviceman came next day on time and looked that the problem and called my husband to explain what was wrong and what needed to be done. He also provided the exact amount and estimate time to fix the issue. The job was done in a neat manner and no mess was left behind.

System was initially installed in 2008, Installation went smoothly, but I found pieces of wire and sheet metal thrown behind attic unit which I cleaned up. Also found air leaks from sloppy work, which Universe quickly fixed. In 2011, system was not cooling enough, and warranty was over. But after I complained to a manager, they did send a repair man who recharged the unit with more Puron. Universe could not find a leak. A unit this age should not need to be recharged. In 2013, the system needed to be re-charged again, which I had done by a different company. In 2014, we found leaks from the drain pan, and now I have to spend $1,200 to remove and replace the drain pan in the attic air handler. In summary, the initial install went fine, and all the people from Universe were helpful, but over time the system has leaked Puron, and now the drain pan needs to be replaced.

I noticed a leak from my expansion tank connected to my hot water heater. I called Universe Appliance. Less then 2 hours later a plumber arrived and repaired the leak. Since I have a service contract no additional cost was incurred. While the plumber was at my home he also did the annual tune up on my heating system. Thank you to Universe Appliance for a job well done.

I had a new central air system installed and the folks at Universe were great. From the first appointment for an estimate, to the day the job was completed, they did and followed through, with everything they promised. Due to a conflict, I had to change the date the job was originally to be completed and they were extremely accommodating. Being able to have the whole job completed in one day was phenomenal. All the workers were professional, polite and pleasant. Would definitely recommend and would use them for their other services in addition to regular A/C service.

National Grid replaced an old gas meter to make it easier for them to take meter readings on a house I bought last summer. Upon completion and inspection, they told me that my vent pipe was not up to code and they had to shut off my water heater until it was fixed and they inspect. I called Universe immediately since I have a service contract with them for my gas heat and central AC (they were referred to me by a coworker of mine). I spoke to a VERY polite lady named Ann. She gave me an estimate of when someone would arrive. Not a 6 hour window like National Grid does. About 30 minutes later Jack arrived. Very friendly, personable man. He explained everything very clearly and referred me to Ken from Second Opinion Chimney. Too bad Second Opinion isn't on Angie's List, because they were just as good and the price came back $25 less than he quoted over the phone. I also had Universe (Joe I believe) come last fall before I used the heat in my new home for the first time. He did a thorough inspection and cleaning. He was also a very nice guy. When I see friendly people like this, it is obvious they like their jobs. They like their jobs because Universe seems like one of the few companies that have their act together. I highly recommend them as a service provider. There Combo contract price for 'Gas Heat/Central Air' was cheaper than had I kept the previous owners contracts with two seperate companies. I look forward to contacting them shortly for my Central AC PM. -JC

Universe Appliance Repairs pricing seemed reasonable. They did great and I liked the service because they came in here and actually fixed it.

Everything about initial maintenance visit and subsequent installations were professional and first rate.

They came out this morning to give me a Est. to install 5 pcs of pipe under my deck from a existing line they installed in the summer.They quoted me $2,250 which is just insane and a completely piggish. This is more then they charge me to run the pipe from my garage to inside my house which I thought was very expensive but I was in a jamb and need it done ASAP. After going to Lowes the cost of the pipe was only $21.00 per pc for the Galvanized pipe. The materials where going to cost no more then $120 bucks. So with that being said they where charging me over $2,000 in labor. This is a 1 man job and shouldn't take all day since it is only 5 pcs of pipe and they are coming off a existing line. I was wondering will they do yard work or other house hold chores since I was paying for and they quoted me that they be there most of the day. NO they will be on another project in the afternoon after lunch taking advantage of another customer. I work for a very large union contractor the labor rate they are charge per day is just completely insane (was told they charge $1,300 bucks per day per man). They charge more then any union trade in the business including all insurance and benefits. This project shouldn't have cost no more then $500 or $600 bucks.

Ok Angie....... Prior to having Universe take care of this, I checked your web site and called a plumber (Rated "A") who missed two appointments and had to be called for the second appointment. I was told "Oh". I got mixed up with the dates. I thought it was last week", REALLY? Then (for some unexplained reason) a second plumber was called. They were a disaster. They were wrong with their analysis of the problem. Finally, Universal was called. They figured out what the problem was, did the repairs and solved the problem. The "big job" was done in about 2 hours. Originally, the first plumber was called because YOU rated them an "A". This is wrong. Universe is rated by you as a "B". Universe DESERVES an "A". They are prompt, professional, knowledgeable and fairly priced. Their technicians are top notch. I have dealt with Universe at other times and know this is their "normal". Please see that Universe has the rating they deserve. I intend to tell everybody I know that they are a trustworthy organization.
