The experience was terrible. At first we liked Rae and John Packard a great deal, they came recommended and other related providers had heard good reviews of their quality. Rae was very nice to work with, very pleasant and appeared knowledgeable and experienced. John started his career as a woodworker and appeared to be very detail oriented, with a deep sense of caring about the end result of the work. All of that could not be farther from the truth and reality of their work and the end result of their services. Our real issues appeared with installation and the fact some of our cabinets were installed not level, so had to be 'fixed', but even upon 'fixing' the issue a couple cabinets were not made level or plum around our large vent hood. Also, one side of the large island (113" long) was installed with the cabinets not straight, so the overhang was/is uneven. The trim detail above the cabinets had to be redone in a couple places because it wasn't straight or level - to the point where you could see it simply by looking at it (note: our walls are quite plumb, our floors are very level). Additionally, the installers didn't take the time to install the knobs correctly so many weren't straight - they are a T-Pulls from Urban Archaeology with an extra pin to ensure straightness and that they stay straight, the installer drilled a large hole for the pin making install easier, but destroying the effectiveness of the pin. And possibly the biggest issue - the reveal between most of the cabinet doors and the cases is very big and are uneven. Accept were they built a corner cabinet wrong, so John Packard's solution to fixing it was to infield remove part of the cabinet, add two vertical pieces and install new doors - doors that do not fit properly. Also we have have issue with doors and drawers not closing properly, hinges not working properly (and they used the wrong hinge!), and installation marks all over our cabinets due to the numerous changes that were required and the lack of caring by the install team. Additionally, the cabinets above the wine refrigerators in the Butlers Pantry were designed too shallow for the Sub-Zero wine refrigerators (units designed in by Rae Packard) so the cabinets had to be removed and block spaced out from the wall. And I won't go into the many spacing issues that were very poorly designed, considered, and dealt with infield...all very poorly. Regarding Price. I would have said they were "Fair" but given the many installation and product quality issues we have had there is no way for me to indicate "Fair" for such a poor job. All in, the installation of our kitchen went over approximately a six month period - 6 months! And technically, they never truly finished. I highly recommend you stay very far away from Packard Cabinetry. Sometime over the next several years we will have to replace our cabinets to get them to be what they should have been the first time.
Description of Work: Packard Cabinetry provided the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry in a new house we built - a large kitchen and butlers pantry, and three bathrooms.
