Description of Work: I called Windswept per the advice of my son-in-law. Four years ago, I'd had Central Masonry & Chimney Services completely rebuild my chimney. Last year when Central Masonry came to do a chimney sweep, they said I needed a new liner. I thought it odd since I'd just have a brand new chimney installed from the roof up. Wouldn't the liner be new? This year, I called Windswept Chimney services to come and clean my chimney and give me a 2nd opinion about the need for a new liner. Frank was awesome. He sat down and read all my paperwork from Central Masonry from when they installed the chimney. He said that he saw flaws in the chimney when he had driven up. He brought me down to the basement so I could watch and observe as he removed the vent from the gas heater going into the chimney wall where it should have connected to the new liner. He was not happy about what he found. Central Masonry had not hooked up the liner to the vent. He then went upstairs and out on to the roof. The liner wasn't hooked up properly at the chimney top either and there were other code violations as well. Frank called Central Masonry & Chimney Services and told them of their gross negligence and to get out to my house and fix it asap. Frank made a list of corrections that were needed so that I could go over the list with Central Masonry. They showed up the next morning to make corrections. Frank is coming back to inspect their work to make sure it's done right. Frank sat down and explained to me how the venting system should look. He explained that they should have gotten a building permit if I didn't and if that had been done, the work would not have passed inspection. They never told me I needed a building permit. Frank took so much time to help me. I know that for any and all of my future work, he will be the one and only person I call for my chimney work. Frank asked where my warranty for the liner was and I told him I was never given one. He said I should have received a warranty and he showed me examples of warranties that he had in his own clipboard. When I asked Central Masonry for a warranty, they said my receipt was my warranty. NEVER hire Central Masonry & Chimney Services. Hire Windswept. Frank is the best.
