This was disappointing experience. I was impressed with Andrew when he came to give the estimate. He took a good look around at the work so that his estimate "would be fair" to both of us. His estimate came in $1500 under what another contractor had estimated for the same job. Since Andrew had been recommended by a neighbor, and his price was so good, we hired him. He was able to start later that week. He began the job with one worker. At the end of the second day, he told me he would have to change his estimate. Stripping the wallpaper was taking longer than he thought and, in his words, "he had to make a living". The next day, I told him I wanted to have the discussion of his revised estimate by the end of the day. He tripled his price on stripping the hallway and doubled it on the bedroom. WOW. It was clear that he did not want to finish the job. What he did looks fine, but we had to clean up paint off the floor and he neglected to paint all of the trim in one room.
Description of Work: We hired Andrew to strip wallpaper and then paint three bathrooms, a dining room, foyer, and hall. His estimate was for one coat. So, if your walls need two coats, it's 1/3 more of the original price. If your trim needs two coats, it's one more third. If your ceiling, trim, and walls need two coats, count on doubling the estimated price. When does it ever take one coat? He only completed less than half of the job. Seeing as he is a professional painting contractor, I expected his estimate to be solid. He even spent extra time checking the wallpaper and walls before writing up his estimate. When it became clear that the wallpaper stripping was more difficult than he anticipated in the foyer, he stopped. He then started the bathrooms which were less difficult to strip. He then tripled his estimate on the foyer and hallway wallpaper stripping and doubled it on the remaining bedroom. He did not finish the job he was hired to do and left us with a partially stripped foyer.

IT WAS EXCELLENT. THEY REALLY TOOK THEIR TIME TO DO A VERY GOOD JOB OF SCRAPING THE OLD PAINT OFF. THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF PREPPING WITH PRIMER. THEY USED VERY GOOD QUALITY PAINT. THEY HAD A GOOD SENSE OF WHAT TO USE ON THE TRIM. THEY WERE NICE GUYS AND DID A QUALITY JOB. I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS A LITTLE HIGH BUT IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY WHEN IT WAS DONE.
Description of Work: THEY PAINTED EVERY SQUARE INCH OF THE HOUSE, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. IT IS A TWO STORY, THREE BEDROOM, WOOD SIDED HOUSE WITH A PORCH.
