Very pleased! Despite recent 23" snowfall, team arrived on time, worked diligently each day (three total). Put up floor to ceiling dust barrier, used dust-collecting equipment (surprised how little floating wood dust was generated; there's always some, but still - very little overall). Team was respectful, hard-working, very detail-oriented, hand-scrapped under radiators. Very professional job!

Had a great experience with this local company. The quality of their work -- both new installation and refinishing was very good and cost was reasonable. They keep their word on timeframe, care about how the finished flooring looks and customer satisfaction. Recommend without hesitation.

We engaged Greg Alden to install hardwood flooring in two rooms and restore hardwood floor in kitchen. The project went extremely well. The new floors, as well as the refinished floor in the kitchen, match seamlessly with the existing 25 year old floors in the rest of the house. Alden Floor Service removed wall-to-wall carpets and laid down new hardwood in two bedrooms and two walk-in closets. The also removed the heavy pieces of furniture from the room, supplied the 2 1/4 select red oak boards, cut the boards to fit, covering an area of 400 sq ft, which were then sanded, stained with a golden oak stain, then sanded and finished with three coats of Polyethylene, with one coat applied per day. Over the same time period, they sanded the kitchen floor (100 sq ft) down to bare wood, including the pantry, and refinished the floor in the same manner as the new wood installed in the bedrooms. They then returned and moved the heavy pieces of furniture back in place. We couldn't be more pleased with the result.

Greg's job exceeded all my expectations. He came on time and did a fabulous job. We added hardwood floors in two bedroom and were concerned about whether the new floors would match the floor in the hallway. Our house is 22 years old. Greg assured us that he could match the select red oak flooring. The match was perfect. I couldn't tell where the seam between the floors was. I have two friends who also had a great experience with Greg.

It went so well that we have arranged to have our 2 other bedrooms updated with hardwood. The work is great and the team is professional, neat and very helpful. Hire Alden Floors - you will be very happy with the result.

Greg Alden was a pleasure to work with and his crew really knew what they were doing. Although Greg was not the least expensive, he was also not the most expensive - but close to the top quite. But the thing that set him apart was that he thought that a section of very warped boards in my kitchen due to water damage should be replaced. I wanted them replaced and I asked every other person who gave me a quote and they all said it wasn't necessary. But the boards were raised and split apart and looked awful. The others were going to sand them down. Greg immediately said that he would prefer to replace them and I agreed. He also added sanding and refinishing the wooden "nosings" under the spindles on our landing. He also suggested that we remove the raised pegs that kept falling out with flush ones. The others never mentioned these. They were just not attentive to this level of detail and their quotes did not include the nosings or the kitchen floor repairs. They also preferred the newer water based sealer - which I researched - that is more expensive but easier to work with and dries faster and smells less. But the finish is not as nice. Greg advised that the poly finish is warmer, although a bit more of a hassle. They used plastic to protect as much of the house from dust as possible. He showed me three different colors that were in my range and painted them put on the floor to discuss. He was very patient with the decision phase. They were neat and clean. I was very surprised by how little dust there is. Their main sanding has a vacuum bag attached so it sucks up most of the dust. Although Greg warned us that there would be dust, it was not nearly what I expected. The floors are spectacular.!!!! I couldn't be happier.

Wonderful job!!! Removed tile in entry way, large eat in kitchen, carpet in 2 rooms and replaced with hardwood flooring. Refinished floors in dining room and stairs to match new wood floors. The whole first floor of our home is all wood flooring now and it is beautiful!!! We had real pre-finished oak put in and he matched the refinished floors to the new floors exactly.

Alden provided excellent service. We are impressed and very pleased with the high quality of our new floor. Greg analyzed the situation and provided some structural improvements. The workers were punctual and left the place clean and tidy each work day. We have had many compliments on the floor and it's still a pleasure to come downstairs and see it each day!

Overall they did an excellent job. We had a minor issue with one area. When we pointed it out, Greg Alden came back and did that area over from scratch.

Greg showed up on time for the estimate, he took the measurements and gave me a price on the spot. I compared his quote against 3 other Angie's list A rated companies. He had the best price and I was most comfortable with his explanations of the work (I am a wood worker and have installed hardwood floors several times myself) . Greg delivered the wood to the job at the date promised. This installers showed up on time and did a very professional job. They took care of the details they way I wanted them. They were neat and clean and I was am very please with the work done.. The only issue was that Greg notified me, after they had put on two coats, that he had made a mistake and his crew was not using the brand of finish I specified. He was very apologetic and offered to remove it and use the one specified. As it was not that important to me, and I didn't want to take the time to have that done we agreed on completing the job with the finish they were using (it was the same color some people told me they preferred it to what I hand chosen).

I called three times, left a message, waited a couple of days and never heard back. If he's that busy, great for him, but do me the courtesy of calling and politely saying so.

Greg came in, assessed the damage and suggested how to go about repairing the floor. His crew came in and repaired the floor as discussed. They also repaired a scratch in their work caused by a plumber moving a radiator and did not charge me for it. Their work was beautiful. They were the essence of punctuality and professionalism. I wish all contractors were as easy to work with!

It went just fine. The man who did the job, he was efficient and neat and clean.

Everything was superb! From the initial consultation to the end of the project , everything went smoothly. No unexpected issues. This Contractor is knowledgeable, punctual, customer-service oriented And doeS a great job. We would hire him again and recommend Him

Greg Alden and his team were great. He responded quickly to my inquiry, gave a detailed quote, and showed up as promised. He did the work when I was out of town, and controlled access to and from the property. When I returned the floors were beautiful. He made repairs where he needed to, and the new floor and old floors matched very well. The house was clean, with only a minimum of left over wood dust (I expected much more). I recommend Greg without hesitation and will be using him to do the remainder of the upstairs later this year.

The owner, Greg, replaced the few boards near the fireplace that were not in good shape after taking out the wall-to-wall carpeting. A crew of 2 others spent 4 days sanding and putting on 3 coats of oil poly. All were professional and pleasant. The floor came out beautiful, and I'm very happy with the service.

I called 15 min after scheduled appointment, when no one had shown up. Stated he had forgotten to put my appointment on his phone, was at an auto repair place, & could be there in 25 min. Did show up about 25-30 minutes later. Estimate was high for the small area being done. Stated that there was a minimum charge of $550. Had I known, I would not have requested an estimate nor lost the work time waiting for the estimate. To his credit, he answers the phone, showed up, and seems pleasant to deal with.

We are trying to sell the house and we had someone else do the floors. they were so terrible they had to be done again. Mr. Alden gave me a great price and was able to do the work within a few weeks allowing us to get the house back on the market. Overall, the work looks spectacular. They were quick and generally professional. I had a few minor complaints. They forgot to lock the door a couple of times, and while I was told by one of the workers that they would remove all the saw dust from the house when they were finished, there was still some sawdust left around. It was no big deal, and nothing was stolen from the house. Not only would I use this company again, we WILL use them again. Probably next spring. Mr. Alden was very accessible, very good at returning calls and very courteous. I can't imagine considering anyone else doing this work. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

He was great and provided outstanding quality. He was on time; actually the house was vacant so he was able to get in before we got here and he got the job all done so that when we got here, it was all finished. It looks fantastic. He worked within our schedule which was really helpful. It looked horrible before but it looks like brand new now.

Everything turned out very well. They did a nice job and the pricing was reasonable. Overall, I am pretty happy with their service and the outcome. They completed the job in the time frame they said they would and we did not encounter any problems.

The job went well, Alden had no problem working with wood that we had ordered through another company. They did a good professional work installing the flooring. They could not save all of the molding, but we expected that.

Alden was very prompt in returning our call and coming to give us an estimate. The room was empty so they were able to finish the job in one day.

They were reliable and available. They kept me informed as to how the project was going. They helped me with the selection, the floor that I ended up with is a very good floor. They had to adjust and prepare the floor in certain areas in order to lay the hardwood floors. They cleaned up before they left, so I didn't have a bunch of dust laying around. Considering that they had a lot of work to do, the final results were very good.
