Description of Work: The technician that did the work called around 15 minutes before appointment and said he may be a little late, just finishing a previous |job. However, he was right on time. I appreciate a heads-up like that! |First explained the three areas I needed help in - two bathrooms and a |leak by my washing machine. Which could be appliance or plumbing. |Gave me an estimate of $300.00 based on man hours and parts. Parts turned |out to be a little more but I have an old house - built in 1974! - and |sometimes you can't even find parts. No problem with estimate at all. |Joe, the technician was very thorough and worked systematically from one |bathroom to the other and then down in the basement for the washing machine. |In the front, full bathroom he corrected a problem a previous plumber did |and changed the shut off value. The half back bathroom toilet was shot, |really too old to fix and we decided to leave as is since it is not used |a whole lot and he would go back to the office and request an estimate to |replace it and a new valve. Estimate is $400.00 parts and labor. I will |deal with that at a later time. The washing machine was not at fault for |the leak but needed two new hoses and again a new shut off valve. |The main problem he had was shuting off the water, again the valves in |the house were very old and he was hesitant about touching them so we |turned off the water to the house from the street. I was unaware of this |right away but when Joe was replacing the hoses from the water to the |washing machine he changed and installed two new shut off valves to the |main water supply! I was amazed. He did a fantastic job, more then I |could have hoped for. Final cost $350.00! Very, very satisfied.

+ -1 moreThis work was completed at the home of my 83 year old mother. Mr. Gross and his son were extremely polite and patient while explaining information. They were punctual in returning phone calls. They started and completed the boiler and water heater installation as promised in one day. As they completed the job they were very respectful of my mother's home and cleaned up after themselves. Due to some questions that my mother had, Mr. Gross spoke to me by phone and sent his son back to my mother's home to resolve an issue. They were extremely helpful. I recommend them highly and would use them again.
Description of Work: The 30 year old oil fired boiler and water heater were removed from the premises. A new Burnham cast iron oil fired boiler with a Beckett retention burner was installed and it had a Honeywell Outdoor reset. In addition, a 45 gallon SuperStor Ultra water heater was installed.

+ 0 moreVery well. The men arrived promptly and completed the job within 30 minutes. I was shown what had been done and an explanation as to the necessity of the change of parts was given. I am very happy with the service that was provided. I had a bad experience the past week with a large company with unifromed technicians who needed two trips to complete a simple job, and charged two service fees. I was also informed of the leak at that time and that it would cost $375 to fix. I decided to try this smaller company named after the owner hoping for an honest company and I feel I received what I had hoped for.
Description of Work: Replaced expansion tank and boiler relief valve on oil burner. Oil burner was leaking water.

+ -1 moreAfter getting negative response from 2 other company's (because no one likes to work with steam boilers) I called Allen he came over the same day I called and looked over the job. Within 2 days I received a written estimate. I thought it to be a fair price. They were at my house within a weeks time. They showed up exactly at the time they said and worked all day until 3:30 when they finished installation then stayed another 30 minutes cleaning up inside and out. I would hire them in a NY minute. They were also very polite. I am very pleased with my new boiler. Oh one more thing they have been in business for 30 years and it is a father and son business.

+ -1 moreI used Alan Gross Plumbing and Heating in October 2008 to convert from oil to gas heat. The workers were very reliable and efficient and the workmanship was excellent. Dale, the lead man, never took a break during the entire ten hour installation and called me the next day to make certain that I was satisfied with the workmanship. He came back to fine tune the boiler to make it even more efficient for no additional charge. I used Dale again just last week to deal with an unrelated water issue in my basement. He solved the problem and installed a special pump at a very reasonable cost. Again, he worked non stop and called the next day to check on the status of the work. I would never consider using any other company for my plumbing and heating needs.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed with this company. The owner who did the estimate was prompt and thorough. He recommended equipment and helped coordinate the conversion with the gas company. The technicians arrived on time as promised and spent nearly two days working on the conversion without any significant breaks. They also did additional work without charge and were very good at explaining all procedures to me. They cleaned up thoroughly when finished. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I converted an oil heat system to gas. The company removed my existing boiler, replace it with a gas burner and also installed an indirect hot waterheater.

Description of Work: I had them do all of the plumbing work in two bathrooms that we were remodeling in our house. They installed the bathtub, shower unit, toilet and the sinks in both bathrooms.

I thought this was very responsive and punctual. This company is conscientious and reliable. They had my heat going right away. There was no mess at all. It was quick, efficient service.
Description of Work: Allan Gross Plumbing & Heating came on an emergency basis and changed my heat zone valve. My apartment is a one bedroom, one bathroom unit. His price was very reasonable.
