Steve is top-notch. If you stop by his shop unannounced, you may find not him there - he's therefore likely on a jobsite. Since he's only a few miles from me I could accept that. It is otherwise best to first call. Leave a message, and he'll call back. (In the future, he let me know when he would be there to consult and select the items.) When I caught up with him, he was more than helpful, citing all possible choices and the reasons why or why not to use them for my project. He was not short on information! He showed me around his shop and explained what he does and how he does it, and how it all would apply to my proposed job. He let me know of sale prices available on particular finishes and options, and I took full advantage of them. He gave me (even cut) sizeable samples for me to take home and keep until I made my choice. He's busy, so his initial estimate for my job was two months out. But as luck would have it, someone postponed, and he could move my job up by two weeks (I'd say his work is worth the wait!) He and his assistant were very careful in my house, and did a superb job. While one company quoted a flat fee of $350 to rework any plumbing, Steve included that part of the work in his total price, and it took him all of 20 minutes to do it. Where there were original deficiencies in the supports for the old countertop, he corrected them. No extra charge for that, nor was there an extra charge for making a slight cut to the length of the underside of the window ledge in order to accommodate the 4" high backsplash. The main counter is over 12' long, so he had to create two seams for three pieces. I cannot see where the seams are. That may be a function not only of his work, but of the particular pattern as well. I opted not to have him install the small faucet for the reverse-osmosis system, as it currently doesn't work. But if I later decide to have it installed, he said he would come back and drill the hole for free. Steve was prompt both for the measurement visit and the actual installation. The job took about six hours, and they did their best to keep everything clean. I know he's "there" should I need any help, such as re-polishing any part of the new countertop. I showed these countertops to friends who live nearby, and they were impressed enough to hire Steve to make the countertop for their guest bath renovation.
