Doug is a scam artist. We first used Doug 5 years ago to put in a new leach field and septic. He was paid in full for the job and was supposed to come back and finish grading the yard. He never came back. Doug has refused to answer text messages or phone calls. 5 years later we needed to have the septic pumped. $2500 later to fix all of the things Doug did wrong or didn't do at all. Hopewell Septic was shocked with that they saw. My husband again tried calling him to get more info. He called back and said he was in Mexico and would call when he was back. No return phone call. After reading multiple reviews saying the same thing I would assume Doug is in Mexico avoiding people he has screwed over. Do not use!!!!

AVOID Doug at all COSTS, he will take your deposit and disappear! below is a full detail of what has transpired, and I hope that anyone reading this will be cautious, As I am now suing him for my deposit of $22,500. I have hired Doug in March 2021 to relocated my septic system and tank, after interviewing a few contractors. He was one of the higher bids, although he was very communicative to start off. He did ask for a very high deposit of 50% for a 45k system, which was not the norm, but given that he seemed professional and was always prompt in his communication, I obliged. Doug continued with his prompt communication thereafter, and was slated to start the septic Relocation in the summer. In Late June I have spoken to him and we have discussed that we would start the project towards the end of July or Early August, as he had one of his foreman going on vacation and he had some scheduling conflicts. I have called him on July 20th to find out when he plans to mobilize, he promised me within a week or so as he was waiting on material. I followed up again the following week as he hasn't started yet, and thats when he started to dodge my calls. I have called, texted and emailed him for 3 straight weeks (every other day) until I finally made contact with him in mid August, to which he "apologized" for not answering sooner and that he has been very busy and promised (yet again) to start the week of August 23rd. It was all confirmed. On August 25th I reached out to him after realizing its a Wednesday and he has yet to mobilize, and again he screened my calls, texts and emails for 3 straight weeks, till he finally answered on September 14th and apologized (once again) for his "****** communication" and then told me he was having problems getting the gravel for system, bc of the hurricane Ida flash floods that happened on September 2nd. I offered him to source the gravel myself, as I candidly did not believe him at all, and wanted to immediately find the solution. I asked him for the quantity he needs and when would he be able to start if I can get it onsite that week, he told me he will call me back within the hour with a concrete date and the quantity for the gravel. He obviously didn't call back, I called him and texted him 5 times that day, and every day till September 20th, when I hired a lawyer to recoup my deposit. Doug has yet to respond to the legal letter. My guess is, I'm not the first person he has done this to, as this entire ordeal seems to natural for him. I will be suing him for deposit and damages that he has caused. At this point I have hired a much more qualified excavator, who has delivered all his material this morning, on a much shorter notice. Doug, clearly never intended to perform the work, rather chose the easier option of enriching himself by stealing my money. I am more than willing to speak to anyone who would want advise in this matter dealing with him, although my short answer would be, AVOID him. you will get hurt.

Pool was filled in, no removal of pump house. He left some of the fence posts still intact and wanted to cut them with a sawzall. The septic system was a total cluster ####. He (Doug) tore up my lawn, filled in the areas with construction debris, I don't have to visit the Indianapolis Motor speedway to visit the "Brickyard", I simply need to just go out into my yard. He left boulders too heavy to remove with out construction equipment all around the yard, to the point I can't mow my lawn properly. They were supposed to install a curtain drain which was paid for and that never happened. This job began mid December 2020 and ended March 2021. Doug is a total thief and scam artist. Avoid this shyster by ALL COSTS! UPDATED 07/14/2021 : In ground pool filled in, New septic system Review Text: Since I can't reply to the rebuttal to my original review, I'll do so here. First and foremost, Nothing, Nothing was said about the electrical to the pool house until I inquired as to why it and the fence posts were still there , and this wasn't until your guys came back in March. I don't fill in pools for a living, you do. You never offered to bring back a unit to remove the fence posts, you offered to send someone back with a sawzall to cut the poles and shed down, leaving the slab the shed is on. Second, The boulders were NEVER discussed at all. I don't need boulders to "Mark" the areas, I can get marker sticks from Home Depot for that purpose. Third, the final design didn't call for the curtain drain, yet you charged me for it. Fourth, You pumped the system because you destroyed the original concrete tank to drop in a plastic tank that wasn't attached to anything. You pumped it because you knew if I had received a fine for overflow, it would have come off the price of the job. Fifth, You guys didn't come back here until I had to make several calls to you and you got my best Bronx out of me, and you didn't answer the phone, it almost always went to voice mail, then your guy would call me back. As for still having your phone number, of course I have it, but for what? To not get an answer? For what I paid, (I could have bought and paid for a new SUV) you should be calling me to inquire if any problems.

Good morning [Member Name Removed]! This is the first I’m hearing of ANY OF THESE ISSUES! When we left your project I asked to call me directly if there were any issues. As your project was completed in the early spring, there were bound to be issues with settling. As for the timing of the project- when we started your project, we found that an engineer was needed and that the health department needed to be involved. Unfortunately, how long the review process takes, is out of our hands. Don’t forget we had a lot of snow this past winter! Pool shed- we told you in the beginning of the pool demo, that we COULD NOT remove the shed if there was live electric still in the shed. We even offered to bring a machine back to remove it after you removed the electric. You never called. As for the yard- we left the boulders as protection different pieces of the system. When we walked the final job with you, (you stood on your upper porch over looking the entire project) I explained to you what the rocks were for, you didn’t ask for the. To be removed. Curtain drain- as mentioned above, once the engineer and DOH were involved, an entirely different design was used. The final design DID NOT call for a curtain drain. In the months that it took to get your system approved, we pumped your septic tank at least once a week and did not charge you a dime, because we under stood your frustrations. As soon as all the snow melted, we did your job as quickly as possible. If you would like to discuss farther and talk about fixing some one your issues, please call me directly. I’m sure you still have the number.

The underdrain was installed but Blackrock ruined our lawn. The finished grading was never done. Topsoil was never placed and the lawn was never graded even though this work was paid for in advance.

I hired Black Rock Excavating (Doug) to do some drainage work on my home. I paid Black Rock half the amount as he requested, but he didn't even do half of the work or purchase any of the materials. He never finished the job, and I never heard back from him despite many attempts to contact him.

I needed work done on a rental property. The septic system was failing. I contacted BlackRock excavating. My brother in law had used him a few years back for a driAnage project. The owner Doug, came out as soon as he could. He explained that the system had failed due to the lack of up keep. A few days later BlackRock was at my house. The job went off without a hitch! Doug was very clear on every step of the way. The project was completed on time and on budget! Call Doug at BlackRock for anything!

I came home from work, to find a large hole in my yard. My septic tank had collapsed. My neighbor had just had his entire septic system and tank replaced. So I asked him who he used, he said to call BlackRock excavating, He spoke very highly of the owner! I called, the owner Doug answered the phone on the second ring. 20 minutes he was at my house. He explained the entire process. He started work the very next morning. When I got home from work they were finished with the job! It looked like they had never been there. I race about BlackRock! I even wear a company short I was given, all the time!
