Great service and work. This is the second time we have used JBL. The first was a big window replacement for full house. The work was so good we used them again for a second, albeit, smaller job but same level of professionalism, courtesy, good pricing, and work! Plus, they are really nice folks!

The contractor never replied to my phone call

I wanted to hire this contractor. I could not hire this contractor because he wanted 78% of the job cost upfront prior to doing any work.

The job involved-- Partitioning the room to make an upstairs laundry area Creating an auxiliary small closet To accomplish this, extensive plumbing work as well as electrical and “reconstruction” of areas involved in routing new pipes. The newly created areas were primed and painted. Dave and his team were super punctual, friendly, and professional in every way. Dave was consistently open to changes as well as helpful in making suggestions where he could. Dave showed up at the job site virtually every day to discuss work for the day with his team and to ensure that the work was being performed to his standards. Each morning, drop cloths were laid out and each evening, the area was vacuumed and the drop cloths removed. A lot of attention was paid to maintaining cleanliness to the degree possible and that was much appreciated. The workmanship was very good and attention was paid to detail (seems to be a rarity lately). I am very happy and appreciative of the work from JBL. I would not hesitate to use them again in any future home project.

My experience with this company could not have been satisfying. From start to finish, the service was efficient and professional. Appointments were on time, estimates were submitted in a timely manner and the workmanship was of very high quality. All the workmen were polite, industrious and were extremely respectful of my home. I can't say enough about how easy it was to work with them. I will definitely use this company again and recommend them without hesitation.

When our Bathroom toilet pipe eroded leaking water into the room below severely damaging the ceiling, fixtures and furniture, we knew of only company to call. Dave and JBL. After an extremely successful basement renovation a few years ago, he and his team were the only people we wanted to tackle the work. Always professional, punctual and respectful of our home and our family, JBL breaks the all too common trope of the shady unreliable contractor. Dave and his team repaired the plumbing, redid the walls and ceiling, tiled the floors, electrical and painted all the while keeping us constantly informed and updated to their progress and any unforeseen issues. With JBL, I didn’t have to once worry about the job not being done and/or not being done right and as working parents of a toddler, that is a gift. Dave and his team are always welcome in our home and the only ones I call when we need work done.

Everything went smoothly and efficiently from setting the appointment, getting the estimate and having the work completed. Dave was professional, honest and helpful throughout the whole process. They stayed true to their word and completed the work in a timely fashion. Would highly recommend JBL to anyone for their home improvement needs.

It couldn't have gone better. Everyone who works for Dave Kaplan (JBL Home Improvements) is excellent at their job, very amenable and easy to communicate with. This seems to start from the top down. Besides knowing how to get the job done, Dave is very easy to deal with. He never says no though he will often present a better idea. I never had to wait for him or his crew to arrive. They were also all very neat and careful.

Dave and his crew were excellent. We had two bathrooms completely remodeled. Dave was prompt with replies and very reasonable with the quote. The crew was very courteous, on time, and neat. All crew members asked for our input in fixture and furnishing placements, some of which we never would have thought of. We are very grateful for their expertise and advise. The overall job was completed in a timely manner. Our house was left spotless after working each day. We look forward to using JBL for future projects.

Dave Kaplan and craftsman Matt were great! Courteous, helpful and very skilled. Project ook only 3 hours and Matt solved the issue of the depression in the pathway with an extra facia strip. Thanks and well done!

From the beginning, Dave guided us through the daunting process with helpful suggestions and advice that enhanced the design. JBL was great, They were professional, neat, and good. Had no complaints about anything they did. A full basement remodel finished with no issues at all.

Excellent. They were prompt, personal and reasonably priced. Most of all, however, the work was flawless. The basement door originally and wrongly opened into the garage rather than opening into the basement. Very pleased with the outcome and will use their services again if needed. Highly recommend.

I found Dave here on angies list and did the usual reference checking and house visits of his past work. Each client had only great things to say which was very reassuring considering the amount of money and trust that is involved in the process. Dave and his crew were great, each day showing up around 7am to start work and always cleaning up each day. His subs did great work and had great explanations for why they did things the way they did for my education. Dave was always there to manage his subs and ensure that things were done to what he prefers and was always in contact with me to make sure that that particular work was done to my satisfaction. This type of remodeling always has things that come up for extra work and cost and dave was great about adjustments and pricing. He was always fair and always did what was necessary and did not try to sell us more. He treated this job as if it was his own basement. In the end, the job was more than what he initially quoted but again, with permits, inspections, and unforeseen work that is required during renovations it was a great outcome that you can see in my pictures. Please be aware that basement finishing requires that the owner do maintenance to prepare for the living space. This includes foundation repairs, water management (if there are leaks, fix them, heavy rains that causes rain to come in, window well water management with french drains etc) that is required by you to understand how your house behaves. You should fully understand and resolve these issues before you start this journey. Thankfully i did such a thing, and cannot be more happy and feel safe that water penetration will not happen once dave came and finished. Additionally, closing the furnace area into a now room requires that you provide adequate ventilation for it to burn. Dave assisted me in the end with a vent on the wall to allow for proper intake as you can see from the pictures. I cannot stress enough that people need to be educated on how basements are done and what can and cannot be done for yours. Dave was a great partner in this process and I cannot recommend him and his team more so for your next project. I will always be using him in the future and I hope that anyone reading this will do so as well.

Dave and his team were great. Everything was explained as the work was done and the guys were easy to have around. One thing that was important for us was that they were as clean as possible (it was a full gutting of the main bathroom). They were cleaner than expected. Thanks.
