Hard to believe handymen services are 6 weeks waiting when one of his recent projects only waited 2 weeks.

Dave and his crew where wonderful! They were punctual, arriving everyday exactly when they said they would. We are pleased with the quality of their work and professionalism. We also required the work of a few sub-contractors, who were excellent! We would not hesitate to hire Dave and his crew again.

They were fine. I grade them a B overall. I chose another company to do the job.

They came a day early to start my project!! Quite pleasantly unexpected. Dave and his crew were prompt, professional, courteous and left the work site clean every day. The work done was impeccable, I found their estimate right in line with several others I received. I would highly recommend them

Contacted JBL Handyman services on 4/17/12 for an estimate to replace a shed roof and received an estimate the very next day. I called to set up a date on 4/19/12 and arranged to have the work preformed on Mon 4/23/12. I received a call that they could do the job on Friday 4/20/12 if convienent, which it was. They came after lunch and the job was completed within 2 hours or their arrival including cleanup and didposal of all refuse., without any damage to surrounding landscaping. Very impressive. I would use them again if the need arrises or recommend them to my neighbors without reservation.

The entire project went very smoothly. Dave and his crew was always prompt and courteous each day. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the project done in a very timely manner. The quality of the work was exquisite. Each step of the way they let me know exactly what was going on. When problems were discovered with the existing electrical wiring, Dave notified me of the issue and explained to be why it needed to be fixed. This unexpected problem was the only thing that deviated from the initial estimate and Dave notified me of this difference immediately, and I had no objections to this. Each night when work was done the house was left as neat and clean as possible considering the work that was ongoing. Overall my family and I was very impressed with the overall experience and we would recommend Dave to any of our friends in a heart beat. The entire experience from start to finish was very easy, and extremely professional!

Dave Kaplan was immediately responsive to my first phone call asking for an estimate for the water damage. His estimate was very thorough and I was impressed with it. Also, Dave was amenable to adjust the estimated price when I was looking to save money and paint the interior wall myself. Dave was prompt, personable and put me at ease. This repair was a big deal for me and I was worried it was opening a Pandora's Box. His team worked hard - although they made it look easy. The job was well done and the clean up was excellent. I would turn to JBL Home Improvements again without hesitation.

Dave had given me an estimate of $2875, but told me that until he took the wall apart, he couldn't know the full extent of the damage. He made an appointment with me several weeks in advance. Since I've had terrible experiences with reliability and punctuality with other contractors, I was leery. But true to his word, he showed up on the agreed-upon date at precisely 8:00 AM. There was more damage to a side wall, so the job turned out to be a bigger deal than it was possible to tell until the walls were taken apart. Dave had to come back a second day, with a different crew. All in all, he had two carpenters the first day and two different carpenters the second day. Each and every one of them was very professional. The entire wall had to be removed because of rot and rebuilt. By the time they left on the second day, the entire job had been very professionally completed. All of the debris was removed and Dave even used a portable vacuum and a blower to clean up the sawdust and the mess. Couldn't be more pleased with the work. I will use Dave and his crew again. Dave wasn't cheap, but I would rather pay more for professional work, with no aggravation, than get a cheaper price for poor work.

I was very pleased with the overall experience with JBL Home Improvements. My call was returned the next day; they scheduled an appointment for an estimate that same week; provided me with a written estimate within 24 hours and set up the work to accommodate my schedule. They were courteous and professional; they called to let me know who would be doing the work, what time they would arrive and cleaned up at the end of each day. The job was completed on schedule, the quality of the work was excellent and there were no additional costs. I would definitely recommend JBL Home Improvements and would contact them again for future work.

This is the second year we have worked with JBL and I highly recommend them. Dave is always professional and thorough, and his subcontractors, when he uses them, always impress us as well. He is very knowledgeable, and when looking over a job to give an estimate, will often help problem-solve and give additional options when needed. His estimates are almost always dead-on--we have an old house, so sometimes surprises come up when we're having work done. Whenever this happens, he's always very clear about what, if any, additional steps need to be taken, and what the additional costs will be. Again, a great job!

David and his crew were very informative every step of the way throughout this project and gave me an accurate picture of how much this was going to cost before the project started. Once it was underway he finished the work, cleaned up very quickly and made sure everything was complete. This was an enormous project as I have a pretty big kitchen so I definitely appreciated all the feedback Dave was giving me along the way. Our open space kitchen looks fantastic now and I won't hesitate to use David and his team when we put our island in. Wall was demo'ed, upstairs plumbing was moved to a different section of the kitchen and dave ensured it was hidden so the look of the kitchen wouldnt change, Ceiling was cut open, what looked like a 2000 ton Beam installed, floor boards put in and stained to match existing hardwood floor, walls were painted.

Dave is very personable and professional. He is very easy to work with. He communicated with me throughout the process. I have had lots of contractors work on my home over the years. I really have no complaints and would recommend him unconditionally.

This contractor had worked with us for several months to complete work through a 203K renovation loan. We went with him because of all the GREAT reviews. He QUIT the first day. This is very disheartening after reading some of his recent reviews. The home we purchased had been occupied by tenants and was very difficult to see before closing. Once we had the house we had a better picture of what we wanted and needed done. That led to trying to discuss with Dave the changes we wanted. He was hesitant but agreed...at first. I don't know if I offended him along the way in any way but would expect a contractor to have much better communication/people skills. I agree with the reviews that he seemed to be a responsible contractor but I began to feel that he did not want the job and was hesitant to work with us because of it. It seems like the moment we changed our minds, because we got to know the house better, he didn't want to work with us. He was also very upfront about not wanting to put any costs towards the job...I don't know if he didn't have the money to pay his men and get materials upfront or if he was just unwilling to provide the money upfront. We are doing this work through the bank...he was guaranteed his money if the work was done right, if fact he was guaranteed 35% of the loan upfront for all of these costs, once the paperwork was complete, and of course he was guaranteed full payment once it was complete. Seems like a no brainer so I still don't know why this was such a problem for him. He quit before any of the funds were processed and released. Maybe he was rubbed the wrong way at some point but I don't think I should have to walk on eggshells around my contractor. We should be able to discuss any desired changes and work TOGETHER to find an agreement which I thought I was doing but instead he WALKED OUT and did not want to come to an agreement. Once I started to stand firm on some of the changes we wanted he threatened to WALK. I told him that we will cover the cost out of pocket if we went outside the loan amount, although ironically with the changes made, we were more likely to come in under budget and could give him different work to do instead, so that he wasn't losing out on the total amount of money allotted for him. I am sure he will respond to this and I am trying to be fair but unless I had refused to pay or if I had been mean or blew up at him I don't understand his rash behavior and disregard for all the time and work already put into this project. I would not recommend him to anyone at this point. At least he didn't take the money and run...

Dave was prompt in getting back to us every time we called. The work was started when promised and finished on time. Attention was paid to detail. Dave & co-worker Charlie were punctual and treated us in a friendly, courteous yet professional manner. The quality of their workmanship was great and we were confident in hiring them because they have done work for us and our son in the past.

They were very great to work with. He was very professional, courteous and timely. I just felt the estimate was too high and ended up going somewhere else.

Dave was on time and very professional in my experience. I would and may hire again.

Excellent attention to detail, professionalism, communication.

We had few other companies give us estimate but we decided to use them and have signed a contract with them. What I do appreciate about them is that the other companies who came to give us an estimate just looked around overall and gave the quote which was unlike JBL who looked into all the little details. The man who came in to give me an estimate was really professional with good ethics and was confident. They were able to agree on the price and were to respect the coupon that Angies List gave me. I looked them up in Angies List and they had all A's in their grading which was one of the main reasons that attracted them to me and I would be happy to see them continue with the same grading scales. The quote that I got from them was around $18,000 but I was able to work that quote down to $15,050. They are going to build a complete bathroom for us in the basement starting from the walls, installing the bathroom’s electricity; he is putting up sheet rock in the basement and putting up the ceiling. He will be working on most of the walls. We have to supply our own part like the shower, toilets and things like that which he would install. He has his own licensed electricians, who install the lights as well as the shower, fan and lights throughout the work area like the living area in the main room and in the basement. I have signed a contract with them and they will begin the work in the middle of May. They are very professional and it feels like a great deal.

This was the first work of any kind we have done on our house and were nervious to have someone come in. From day #1 David and his crew was prompt and professional. The estimate we received was lower than other companies, so we went for it. The job start to finish took exactly how long they said it would take and they cleaned up after themselves everyday. There were two minor pieces of unexpected work that popped up, but both were explained to me with options and the additional cost incurred was minimal. The costs was very in low in my opinion for the quality of work they put into it. I would have them back if I needed more work in the future and I would recommend them to anyone.
