Lorono Construction of Rye, NY, is currently working across the street. It has torn down a home and has been constructing a new one beginning in the Fall of 2011 and it is now June 2012. I cannot speak to the quality of their build but I can speak to their lack of professionalism. This is a small block, and it is situated in the form of a U - North and South. Just about everyone on the block here has down construction at some time or another, and construction trucks and cars generally have parked on or in front of the particular premises on which construction is taking place. Overflows to the street in front of other houses have occurred on occasion, and that is fine. But in the case of Lorono, it has been parking its trucks and vans and cars in front of my house and the house next door on a daily basis, and it is often 8 to 10 cars at a time! When this was going on for a few months, I walked across the street to ask that, as a courtesy, they park in front of the property being constructed but all I get from a particular fellow, whom I think may be the owner, is screaming at me that it is a public street and he can park anywhere he wants to! I asked him again several months later, and got the same screaming response. Then about a week later, he came driving down the street and almost ran into my daughter, who is only 5 feet 4 inches tall, who was walking her dog. He pulled up in front of our house once again, and she asked him to please not park there, and he screamed at her! I did a few weeks ago call the office and left my name and phone number, but no one called me back. We have worked with a wonderful contractor, and I will post his information, as well as others in the past, but I am simply flabbergasted at the rudeness of Lorono and the inconsideration. One day, we even resorted to putting out orange cones, and he simply pulled up, threw the cones on the grass, and parked where he wanted to park --- despite the fact that there were plenty of other open spaces on the street. Two days ago, when the new guy, the dry wall guy, pulled up in front of the house in back of the other construction vehicles, I asked him if he would park on the other side of the street because I was expecting some people, and he did and was very nice, even offering to ask the other workers not to park in front of the house. I thanked him and told him it wasn't worth it; they wouldn't do it. But the electrician always seems to park across the street. Yesterday, I was parked in front of my house and the dry wall guy rang the bell and asked me if I could move my car so that his big rig could make a delivery to the house. I said certainly, and moved my car. He told me later that he had told the crew to park across the street in front of the house they were working on; that they hadn't done that simply because they were lazy. Today, though, they are back again, and now with a dump truck also parked in front of my house into which they are dumping dirt from the job. If they miss, I will have a big pile of dirt in my front yard.....So some people are nice, and Lorono could easily control the situation. But it doesn't care about being a good neighbor, since it will go back to Rye (this job is in a neighboring town) when this job is finished. Had he first gracefully acknowledged by concern and said that he would try but couldn't always guarantee, I would not be posting this post. But he never has. My thought is that this is not the guy I would want building my home.
