I had a slight leak which I wanted him to repair and if he wished to - to give me an estimate for a future roof replacement which won't be necessary for a while. He gave me an estimate but would not do the minor patching of the leak. The way it turned out I paid him $89 to give me an estimate. Not what I paid him for. I would like my $89 back. Thanks

Description of Work: I contracted with Ziggy to do some repair work on my home. This consisted of replacing some aluminum trim, a gutter, and some roof shingles that had been damaged when a tree fell against the home during hurricane Sandy. I also wanted him to strip the shingles off a shed roof on the back of the building, add a water and ice membrane over the entire surface and install new shingles. This area had been plagued with ice dam problems even though I had completely re-roofed the home in 2006.

Description of Work: Ziggy's crew replaced the crown area of my cedar roof. They were courteous, professional and provided an estimate of the repair. I would use them again.

Description of Work: We needed gutters replaced & the roof above our front porch repaired plus siding & painting that they interferred with replaced. Ziggy came & gave an estimate of $5,000.00 which my husband agreed on. Gave him a $3,000.00 down payment. The work they did was good BUT it took forever for this small job to be completed (which it never was). The workers would come one day then wouldn,t see them for weeks. My husband had to call all the time & Ziggy had excuses that were unacceptable for a business man to be giving. We were also told they would be there a certain day & would never show up & Ziggy again never called to let us know why. He did come by once (with a lame excuse as to why it was taking so long). Meanwhile my husband & I were outside one day & a man stopped his car & asked us what happened - he was a roofer & said he passes by all the time & noticed that the work was still not done & gave his card he couldn't believe it wasn't finished & thought were were scammed by a fake company. Also all the debris from the work they did do was never cleaned up my porch & yard had trash all over. My husband & I had to clean it all up (Thanksgiving was near & it looked terrible) So we had to lug everthing out to the garbage (& we are no young chickens). Well the last ime we saw them was 2 days before Christmas couldn't believe it, there they were after weeks gone by & not a word from Ziggy ready to finish the job. My husband went & stopped them & told them the job was over. Haven't heard a word from Ziggy. We will hire someone else to finish in the spring. So, do I recommend this company NO. We have delt with contractors quite a bit over the years(we own 2 houses & there is always work to be done) & never had anyone so unprofessional as this.

Description of Work: We had to have our roof replaced . The roof had a lot of rotted wood to be replaced. My husband called Ziggy on a Thursday and he came on that Saturday. He was very friendly and professional. We liked that he was the owner of the company instead of a sales man that usually doesn't know much about roofing. Ziggy immediately ( within a day)sent a proposal. The price was very reasonable compared to other companies. An added bonus was the fact Ziggy gives 10% off to Angie's List users. Ziggy and his crew were able to start within a few days. They arrived on time and worked until after 6pm to get the job done. Ziggy was in constant communication with my husband because we had a few more repairs as the work was being done. Nothing extra was done until we gave the ok. Ziggy gave a price for any extra work. I would recommend E&W to anyone. I have aready told friends and family about our experience.Hire E&W, you won't be disappointed! Clean up was great too. Thank you Ziggy.

Description of Work: He came in to do a roof repair. We had a leak in the living room and he was the only roofer who actually determined what the problem was and did the repair for a very fair price.

Description of Work: Replaced roof with GAF shingles, replaced 17 sheets of rotted plywood underlayment, cleaned gutters, replaced some, replaced rotted fascia, installed 6 ft ice shield (roof slope 3:12), installed attic vent, copper chimney flashing, supplied 6 extra bundles of shingles for future repairs.

He called within two hours of my inquiry and arrived on time the next day. Ziggy took time to explain everything that would be done: the materials, the process, the guaranties, the timing and, of course, the cost. I am the one who was the decision-maker on this project,but am also "the lady of the house". I am often treated in such matters as though I know nothing or am subjected to a pressured sales pitch. Ziggy treated me with respect and professionalism and answered my many questions. It was a pleasure to work with him. The entire job was done just as you would want it to be done.The job could not have gone more smoothly. Among the many things that were completed correctly were: Hardworking. The crew showed up early and worked until after 6. Ziggy came every day to check progress and make sure I was happy. Entire job was done in 4 days. The price was the best estimate received for exactly the same materials. The job was completed at that price. Ziggy didn't want a deposit until "I saw the materials delivered." The job was done neatly. Landscaping, deck and windows were protected and everything was cleaned up daily. The roof looks great. Chimney flashing is beautiful and the gutters are excellent. We have had several heavy downpours since the job was completed.Everything is water tight including around three skylights.

Description of Work: They did new roof for me. I had a problem with my roof ( a lot of leaks). I had before many "contractors" to repair it but worked only for few months and start over with leaks. They showed me my problems with a roof so I decided to do a new one.

Description of Work: We had a significant leak in our den for years (it would fill a small garbage can). The leak occurred intermittently, usually during or right after a "hard" rain storm. Other roofers had attempted to "fix" the leak (which was literally around a recessed light fixture in the middle of the ceiling), but none could figure it out. We were told that the leak could be coming from anywhere. We were often charged significantly for vague roofing fixes that we were told may or may not fix the leak. None did. Ziggy, from E & W, came out to assess the roof and found three different potential causes for the leak. He then returned, with another worker, and spent the morning fixing these three separate problems (flashing, loose stucco, and small hole in the wall). When Ziggy left, he felt confident that he found the cause of the leak. Since then, we have had several very significant rain storms and, amazingly, there is absoultely no leak. And for this amazing service we paid $200. I cannot speak highly enough about this company. We live in Scarsdale, and are so used to being charged much more than the going rate for many services. It is so refreshing to deal with honest, personable, hard-working people whose interest lies in doing a great job. We had been hesitant to have roofing work done in the past because of unreliability, random high charges, and impersonal service. However, we are now excited to have someone we can trust so completely and who is such a pleasure to work with.
