Leaving our house in the hands of Chuck from Talex was, without a doubt, the best way to welcome ourselves to our new little home. Not only is Chuck knowledgable, but he is also personable, and always took care of the house as if it were his own. He is responsible, always clean and tidy, uses extra drop cloths just because, leaves each day with the house as tidy as it was when he arrived, always takes the extra time to ask if he can leave his equipment, and when he does, it is always neat and "out of the way". He takes into consideration that we have a toddler who just might want to touch everything. Furthermore, on occasion he helped us bring the mail in, helped us receive packages from UPS, and even took out the trash and came back later to retrieve the garbage can. So he is a great guy... but how is his handiwork? Phenomenal! I witnessed him with saws and tools and levels, going about his day installing windows and doors for us -- amazing artistry work, a true artist. Here is a summary of some of the touches he put to our house, and and by doing so, he made it even better. - Enlarged and replaced windows, along with new insulation - Replaced front door along with finishing all edges and insulation - Painted bedrooms, living room, basement -- all impeccably done - Remove kitchen cabinets, sink, dishwasher, countertops, then re-grouted and tiled the missing spots on the floor - Replace floor moulding/shoe moulding - Repair water damage (wall, ceiling) - Emergency valve repair -- he made time to come by the house on a day he was working elsewhere, and on the coldest of days in February. I was in a frenzied, meltdown mode, completely distraught, because we now had a new swimming wading pool on the basement floor. He stopped by to fix the leak, and also fixed the valves later on. On one of these days he also took the time to educate me on the valves and the way each one works on each of the utility units. - Removed and replaced 3 toilets - Installed light fixtures (including chandelier) - Installed Lutron Caseta smart light switches - Installed recessed lights in kitchen (so beautiful! Photo attached) - Installed motion sensor faucet - Installed mailbox including digging the hole, securing with post cement, then took extra measure to affix and seal all edges with extra screws and silicone - Installed heavy bag mount - Referred HVAC professional to install 2 smart thermostats and run c wire If you are reading this review, and still considering whether to reach out to Talex or someone else, delay no more and go for Talex! Yes, I would go to him for future house projects if you don't, because we do highly recommend him!

Excellent! Talex gutted the basement and installed new sheetrock, flooring, doors, moldings, did electric work and painted.

We used chuck for a gut renovation when we purchased our house and his work product was excellent and he is very clean. We had a list of items to be taken care of 5 years later and he came and took care of them in a day.

They did an awesome job! The floors look like new and the painting and crown molding came out beautiful. We had used them a few years ago to redo our basement which also came out amazing. Highly recommend Chuck and his team!

WOW! What you would say if you saw my bathroom. Watching my new bathroom materialize was so exciting. He was there for every step to insure a quality product. Chuck and his worker Victor were there every morning at 8:15 and worked all day. They were excellent and very nice!

Chuck did a wonderful job replacing the old deck. Before I found Chuck I struggled getting a contractor on three weeks notice. Chuck was able to squeeze me in at a fair price. He replaced the dangerous old deck with cedar wood, it looks great and is very safe. Chuck is very professional I would not hesitate to hire him again.

Chuck and his team are professional and do a wonderful job. We had them take out a wall, put in a header, and install new windows. Everything was done with a permit. On the more personal side of home improvement, having work done when your family still lives in the home can be stressful. The Talex team works well with your family and their needs and makes everything run smoothly. They are professional and reliable. Their work is impeccable and if your not satisfied they will fix anything upon request. We are not an easily pleased group! My family and I are very happy and excited about our new room. We hired Chuck from Talex to gut renovate our children’s bathroom. He did an excellent job from start to finish. Chuck is extremely honest and professional and his work is impeccable. We plan to use him again for future projects.

there are After having worked with five contractors on home renovations over the course of some 35 years. Mr. Mastrototaro (owner of Talex, Inc.) was bar none the finest craftsman and contractor we have ever have, He takes painstaking care to make sure that everything is cut and measured and installed to perfection, as well as oversaw the larger installations of the rood, siding and doors and ensured us that everything was done in both a timely and professional manner. For example, our home is surrounded by specimen trees and plantings. He made sure that they were protected from the roof and siding debris that was removed and that workers did not tread where plantings were hidden (since it was December everything lay dormant) and could have been damaged. After the conclusion of every workday, our home was broom clean as well. My husband even commented that it might have been cleaner than usual. When there were unexpected delays due to inclement weather or material delivery scheduling, he reschedule his work plan, and always contacted me in a timely fashion. I also appreciated that prior to installing any of the building material he measured, remeasured and corroborated all of his measurements with the stats provided by the building material's manufacturer insuring us that this was top quality work. His attention to detail, down the the fraction of an inch, may have slowed down the reno project but the result is a brand new 70 year-old house. There are a few minor items left on a punch-out list and I have no doubt that they too will be done and with the same professional attention to detail. We cannot thank Mr. Mastrototaro enough for making this process (although interrupted a few times) easy and we are enjoying and taking pride in our new old home once again. Superb job!

Very happy with the quality of the workmanship. Paint finish, moulding, on openings and doorways great. The replacement floor boards, and then staining to perfectly match the rest of the house was excellent. We noticed one tiny issue 3 days after completion date, and Chuck was excellent in his response and came back to resolve the issue. Very satisfied with the results!

We have ongoing projects with Chuck and his team from Talex Home Improvement, Inc. He is a true craftsman who leads his team to make sure the client is happy. Chuck is an excellent communicator and a man of his word. It's quite refreshing to work with a team that arrives as scheduled, continuously communicates if extra work is needed and the additional cost and checks in with the client frequently to make sure they are happy with the work being performed. The painting of our home by Chuck and team has provided an updated look for us. We thank Chuck for recommending to use primer on our walls so everything came out pristine. There was old wallpaper in some areas and Chuck and his team removed it prior to painting. The job he did was so clean, it was like it was never there. Chuck and his team completely replaced a ceiling in our half bathroom. It was a challenging job since the bathroom had been redone several years ago and tile went up to the ceiling. They made it look brand new and like we never replaced the ceiling. Chuck replaced sheetrock in various areas, spackled and painted -- it was like there never was a repair. Chuck and team shaved some of our interior wood doors so they would glide over the carpeting. The tile in our kitchen was ripped up and replaced. We had several other professionals in our home since and everyone has complimented that the floor is level and looks fantastic. There is more painting to be done and future projects for Chuck and his team. We are grateful for Chuck. We thank Angie's List, as that is how we found this wonderful craftsman.

Chuck and his team of experts completely restored the beauty of the house, while maintaining the charm of a 1940's build. Chuck's pricing was fair, and his work far accommodated our expectations. I did not use him because his price was a little high, but not out of line. I was impressed with his knowledge and thought his work would be the highest quality. He also offered to give me all his insurance & workers comp info with out asking, this is important when you have people working in your house.

Finding a contractor who's work is impeccable can be an extraordinary challenge. Finding a contractor who's fees are reasonable, particularly in Nassau County, is also quite tough. And finding a contractor who's a kind and generous person is also a feat. But finding all three in the same person, as we found in Chuck, is a rare find indeed. Because our house is old and oddly built, our bathroom remodels presented one unanticipated challenge after another—uneven floors, dangerous wiring, walls that weren't built square, etc.—but Chuck handled all of it with grace. Other contractors may have issued a series of expensive change orders, but Chuck simply took it all in stride. His tiling work is impeccable. His sheetrocking and painting flawless. Installation of the toilets, tubs, sinks, fixtures, etc. went perfectly. I'd hire Talex again in a heartbeat.

His crew is amazing. They did incredible work, left the house cleaner than it was when he came in, the work was done on time and in budget for the quote. I could not be more pleased with the outcome and the quality of work. I will have him back to do more for us.

Chuck paints like an artist! His work is seamless and the quality of his work is TOP-NOTCH! He takes pride in everything he does and is honest and professional. There were a couple of hiccups during the project because of the age of my home, but Chuck came up with beautiful solutions and it all came together beautifully.

All Jobs assigned to him were done with the same professionalism that I received. Every clients feedback was very positive and would continue to use his services in the future.
