I just finished using them today, for a conversion from oil to natural gas. They were absolute professionals. They were there on time to the minute, they laid a path of rolled paper and card board and only used that to move equipment in and out. They cut up and removed the 60+ year old tank in my basement easily, and cleaned up so it looked like it was never there. The burner was equally as old and was cut up and moved easily as well. After the installation the technician and crew explained all the functions of the new equipment to me right down to the new thermostat. And the people in the office were very accomidating also. They took care of all of the rebate paperwork for me. The only thing I had to do was a little dusting and cleaning up on the first floor of the house due to some soot that puffed out when they fired up the burner for the first time. I'll do a little dusting if it means I never pay for a gallon of heating oil ever again. All and all a very easy going process and will DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone! And the best part was they let me finance the whole thing thru Wells Fargo, so no money was laid out.

Salesmen was great! Cane over on a Saturday morning. After discussing what was going to be done as well as pricing, he told me that we would have the conversion done within two weeks. He was going to have someone from the office call that Monday to discuss the date. Waited for call on Monday but to no avail. Tuesday, again, no phone call. On Wednesday I decided to call. apparently my paper work was never filed and they said they would call me back in a few hours. Thursday morning i call back as if to remind them that they forgot to call me back. I then went to set the appointment and the woman tells me that the next appointment they have is in January. At this point I am furious! I told the woman that the salesmen said I would be able to have the install within two weeks. I told them if they can't keep their word, I will look else where. Lo and behold, I was able to get it for the following weekend! Surprising! The installers where at my house at 9AM. I was out on the road for work. I returned home around 10AM and greeted the installers. The lead installer lacked professionalism. When I introduced myself he appeared to be annoyed as if I was interrupting him. Figuring I am spending $7500 he could at least acknowledge me in a professional manner. Boy, was I wrong. They however did manage to get a tip out of me when the job was complete. About 3 weeks pass my wife calls me and tells me one of the pipes were leaking. I get home to find that one of the joints in the pipe were not welded correctly and had opened up. So now this is a Friday night. I call over to the Company to see if they could get someone over to fix it. The woman states to me that she will get someone over that night. About an hour later I get a call asking me if it is an emergency as they have a lot of calls coming in with people with no heat which are priority. I told her that the leak wasn't spewing that it was only a drip and I could wait until the next day. She said, Okay, we will see you first thing in the morning at 8AM. So I cancel my plans for the morning and wake up nice and early. 8AM rolls around, 9AM rolls around 10AM rolls around. No sign of the technician. I call over to the office and the woman says he will be there between 12 and 2PM. Enraged to say the least. After telling her I was promised 8 AM she came up with some sorry excuse and said I will get him there immediately. The technician calls me when he is about 5 minutes out from the house. so I go outside to wait for him as I dont have numbers on the house. That morning it had snowed. I see the tech coming down the block and wave him into the driveway. I live on a street that has three corners. So there is a very wide area to turn around. All of a sudden I see the technician do a 360 degree turn (A donut) in the middle of the block. He then parks his vehicle in front of my house. as he gets out of the truck I am looking at him like a deer in headlights after witnessing his turn. The technician Luis gets out of the truck walks in the house and apologized for his juvenile behavior for the turn. He Stated and quot;I am still a kid at heart!and quot; I looked at him in disbelief after that statement. If you decide to hire this Company, don't expect any happy employees to be on site. They don't appear to be to happy with their jobs.

One of their reps, Mike, came to my house on 12/14 for an oil to gas conversion estimate. He seemed nice enough and explained the process. I told him that I would need to get back to him the following week. I had received another estimate and asked if they could come down on their price when I spoke to Mike on 12/16. He said any further adjustments needed approval and he would get back to me. Never did. I left several messages on the following days and still to this day not a return call. Glad I found out about their customer service before I became one.
Description of Work: The provider did nothing. Never returned my calls after they came to give an estimate.

Had the SAME problem with this company (Burner King) twice. for the same hot water heater installed new by burner king. each time they came.. it was the same scenero, one and quot;service manand quot; shows up, spends time looking at it. Charges me the service call fee, $115.00 tells me he cant figure out whats wrong with it. Then tells me another and quot;Supervisorand quot; will come and figure it out. and leaves. After 6 hours of waiting, second and quot;Service manand quot; shows up, although hes supposed to be a supervisor, evaluates the situation tells me its an air flow sensor. (same problem i had with this same unit about 3 years prior when they replaced it.) But Again same as the last time, told me he doesnt have the part.. (same story as last time) had to leave to get the part, He installed it a couple hours later. and told me and quot;by the wayand quot; u should replace the hot water heater soon it was getting weak. Soon? REALLY? they installed this hot water heater (propane) brand new and assured me it was much more efficent than the electric one i had maybe 9 yrs ago!.. and it needs to be replaced already? the one i had was 25 yrs old and working fine!. theirs is less than 10! I dont trust this company and will NEVER do business with them again. by the way .. the part ,? was ALSO the same price as the service fee. hmmm, Another check on the same day for $115.00 for the part+ $115 for the service fee.Plus Tax! which equals $500 in repairs over the past 3 yrs to a water heater Burner King installed which is just unacceptable. I converted my system to Propane because of the History of lack of repair or service needed with a gas system. Which very well maybe the case if it wasnt installed by a company that doesn't use inferior products. This Scenero just played out unusually similar to the last time i had an issue with my water heater, right down to the and quot;i dont know whats wrong with it excuse, and i need to have a supervisor come in and look at itand quot; I just Dont trust this company. will not do business with them again. Will definitely look else where. and will Definitely use Angies List the next time . i just Joined Angies list because i felt obligated to inform people of my experience with Burner King, NOT a good one!

Their estimate was very detailed. The job included removing the old hot air oil furnace, draining the remaining oil from the tank, removing the oil tank, installing the new gas unit, gas plumbing, reinstalling her humidifier, and cleanup. They arrived when scheduled, worked neatly, cleaned up, and were very professional. They also submitted the rebates to save us $ on the job (and subtracted that from the balance due. ) we were very pleased with the results. I'm just estimating the price since I don't have the paperwork handy. the work was done in Massapequa Park, NY
Description of Work: MY mother needed to replace her oil furnace. we obtained several quotes for oil and gas and decided to switch to gas. Burner king's estimate was in line w ith the others (and less than sears, and her oil company). My brother had used them in the past and has a good experience and their ratings on here were good.

They provided a very detailed estimate for the job, and it was also the cheapest for the work requested. They originally said that they could do the entire install in one day, but ended up needing two. One day to deliver all the equipment and run the line from outside into the basement. The other day to connect the new equipment and remove the old stuff. One of the days was a Saturday however, so only I needed to take one day off from work. On both of the days, the installers were prompt and courteous. They took time to cover our hardwood floors before moving any equipment in or out and did a very neat job overall. They also coordinated everything with the town for the inspection and with National Grid for the meter installation. Everything was done as requested and I really cant find anything wrong with the work they did. Would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Performed an oil to gas heating conversion on a 3 zone hot water system. This included an 80% efficiency burner, 40 gal HW tank and removal of old equipment including a 275 gallon oil tank from the side of the house.

It looked like it was going to be done very well. The owner provided us with the most detailed proposal of all that we received. That was why we selected him - everybody else was at the same price (almost looks like collusion). The installers put down boards and drop cloths; however, they were not very clean in their work. When they finished I looked at the job and the piping looked nice and symetrical; and the soldered joints looked very clean. It was a pretty picture; however, upon closer examination I found the flaws listed above. There was a small oil stain on the floor under the burner that looked like an oil leak; however, there was no indication until the next day that it was an actual leak. After notifying the company they sent a repair man who fixed the leak. I notified the owner by phone and by FAX about the discrepencies mentioned above; however, he wants more money. He stated that he has installed 30 of these boilers this year. So his crew should know what the manufacturer requires with those installations! They must also be placing screws in the atmospheric dampers of those other installations. I notified the manufacturer of those dampers of the defect. I will be notifying Peerless next about the installation practices of the BURNER KING company. This company appears to have a reckless disreguard for the safety of their customers.
Description of Work: The installers did a fairly good job; however, they didn't install the Peerless boiler according to the boiler manufacturer's instructions, and they splattered solder when doing the joints by brushing the hot joints with an acid brush. This provided nice looking joints; however, there was solder all over the floor and the equipment. The istallers asked me to point out the pipes for the two zones of heat. They either didn't remember or failed to indicate which pipe was the supply and the return - so they did the downstairs zone backwards (now the heat travels first through the kitchen, dinning/living room combination, then through the attached family room). The thermostat is in the center of the dinning/living room. Next, is the fact that they used smaller tubing than what the manufacturer has for the cold and hot water piping to and from the hot water coil. They used 1/2 - inch tubing instead of the 3/4 - inch connections provided by the boiler manufacturer. They also reversed the connections to and from the hot water coil. The manufacturer also requires the use of an anti-scald mixing valve that was NOT installed. At certain times the hot water from the kitchen faucet is over 180 degrees farenheight. The owner of BURNER KING said that he didn't put that valve in his estimate so it would be an extra charge for him to install that valve. He suggested using a ball valve to control a bleed flow from the cold water into the hot water pipe. Needle valves are the standard for this type of service; however, that solution does NOT provide a uniform temperature to the fixtures. Only a thermostatic mixing valve can do that! The Peerless installation instructions state: "a second operating control that senses water temperature is also required (not provided). Use an L4080B or equivalent. Install in the supply piping near the boiler." After the installers left I was looking at the boiler and noticed that the atmospheric damper wasn't moving when the boiler started and shut-down. I wiggled it and a screw fell out and onto the floor. I didn't know what the screw was doing there and tried to find where it came from. Later I noticed that when the boiler went on the damper went into the open position and stayed in the open position instead of dropping down - like it is suppose to. I finally took the damper blade out and found that the danper blade connections to the support shafts were not cut cleanly. I trimed them and now the damper is working perfectly. The installers must have known that the damper wasn't working properly and put that screw in to keep it closed so it looked like everything was OK. There was a small oil leak that a repair man came and fixed on 11/02/2011. However, the owner is demanding more money for him to install the anti-scald valve. We paid with a credit card and have witheld money for having a plumber install that anti-scald valve for us.

They did an excellent job. They did such a good job that I called them back and asked them to do my central air in June. They did a good job. They did what they were supposed to do. Awful. My family froze all night. I could not sleep and had to stay home from work to get the job done again. If I knew they were going to charge another service fee, I would have called someone else.
Description of Work: On 1/13 I noticed the house was getting cold, after attempting to restart the burner I called. The technician arrived about 3 hours later. He spent about 20 minutes unclogging the fuel line and 40 minutes trying to convince me to buy a service contract and other things I should invest in the burner... which is only a few years old. He also told me there was a leak that would cost $375 to repair. The next night I came home at 930 pm and had no heat, my house was 50 degrees. I called the company back and at 1030 I got a call from the repair man who said he probably wouldn't get to my house until 6am... 24h service? After complaining the next day they finally sent someone at 1030am who cleaned more dirt from the line and supposedly replaced the nozzle. They told me on the phone I would not have to pay another service charge, but they did charge me again. $350.00 to get dirt out of a line, I'd hate to see the cost of a real repair job. That's why I signed on to this list. I'm tired of getting ripped off. Also the leak I did not even notice is filling a bucket in a day now.

One company that we contacted didn’t get back to me and the other one made an appointment and then canceled. I went with Burner King. They are located on Long Island and have been around for sometime. They are very accommodating and they do a nice job. In the one home the boiler is oil-fired, and in my other home - which my son and I own together - we converted it from oil to gas. This new equipment that they got out is very energy-efficient and the price for this conversion was $7000. We got that done two and a half weeks ago, and so we don’t know what our big savings are going to be. They were pretty much right on the dime. It was one of those things that I needed to do now. I felt like the price could have been better. I guess they knew that I was in a kind of a bind, and that’s probably how they judged their price. I know I paid higher on the line but it worked out to where it fit into the time schedule. I feel it was a fair price though. I had my house done and there was a leak in one of the parts of the oil-fired one that I had done a year ago; it was out of its warranty section. I called them up first. They told me that I was over the warranty but they sent their guy over immediately. He took care of it, and that is why I gave them an order for the next one. I would use them in the future, if necessary.

The entire job went very smoothly even though it was done on a very cold day in January and our front door was open all day with our heat off. We remained in the house and never felt too uncomfortable. The workers arrived a little late but were very polite and careful and finished the job faster than I thought they would. We had a working system when they left late that afternoon. They saved us over $1000 based on the price we got from another company. It is now June and we have had no problems except getting used to the new thermostats.
Description of Work: Removed my old furnace and installed a new Burnham gas fired boiler and 40 gallon water heater and new digital programmable thermostats. Included 2 new circulators, feed valve, auto vent, low water cutoff, aquastat, relief valve, purge valve, expansion tank, piping, fittings, connections to gas & water lines and chimney.
