TERESA'S FAMILY CLEANING INC

The experience was HORRIBLE! I do not recommend this service to anyone. Bottom line, I was charged for 6 hours of work totaling $635.00. The kitchen by no means was in bad shape at all to begin with. I told them I was stepping out for a while. I came back and the girls seemed idle. My kitchen was not cleaned. The cabinets were not cleaned or the inside of the drawers. I showed the girl what she needed to do, to the point that I had to model for her how to properly clean. She proceeds to spray my wood cabinets with some unknown liquid. I don't know of any professional service that would saturate wood. My bathrooms were not clean at all. When I asked her to clean certain areas in the kitchen that needed cleaning, the girl said she already did it. It clearly was not cleaned. The staff is incompetent and ineffective, but even more appalling is the unprofessionalism of the office and contact people, specifically Nicole Ward. I called several times to speak to the owner and I was told "no one is available." I am currently disputing the charges on my credit card, have filed a complaint with the BBB and now pursuing legal action. I spoke with someone who seemed helpful last week, but suddenly when I called back to follow up, this person has been "out sick....indefinitely." I am starting to question the agency's legitimacy. The girls who came to clean were clearly disgruntled employees. They complained about the receptionist, Nicole Ward. They disclosed to me that the products they use for cleaning do not work and a lot of customers are dissatisfied. This set off alarms for me. Clearly I'm not the only one. Here is my question, what were 2 girls doing in my empty house for 6 hours? No one at the cleaning service can answer this.They weren't cleaning. I checked in several times while they were there. Again, they were asked to clean my kitchen, my kitchen floor, and 2 1/2 baths. No furniture was moved in to the house at this point. It's suspicious, and I believe an illegal scam.

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I called on a Friday to request cleaning service on a Saturday for a vacant house that I was about to move into. I explicitly advised that the house was vacant - no furniture, carpet, picture frames, nothing - and that my priorities were to have the interior and exterior of the cabinets cleaned thoroughly, cobwebs cleared in the cellar (and obviously anywhere else), and the general cleaning that would be expected for all surfaces, floors, windows throughout the house and the few built in appliances in the kitchen. I was advised that the rate would be ~$89 per hour for two people and that it should take 2, possibly 3 hours. I was not there to supervise because we were still packing up our apartment but my father-in-law stopped by to make sure that the staff received a tip and he even went out to buy them more cleaning fluid because he felt that the products they were using were not effective. The management claims that the cleaning staff arrived at 9:30 AM and stayed for 6 hours which is befuddling because these people DID NOT CLEAN THE HOUSE and THEY CHARGED ME $661.16. At best, maybe they cleaned the wood floors, but everything else was left seemingly untouched and in some cases filthy. When I called to complain after seeing the charge, I explained that I NEVER would have agreed to hire them had I known that the price would be so astronomical (I expected to pay no more than $270 based on the quote I was given). The only reason I hired cleaners at all is because I was 7 months pregnant and not supposed to be exposed to the chemicals or level of exertion necessary, otherwise I would have done a much better job myself. The management refused to reimburse me as it is against their policy, instead after a few emails and telephone calls (with Nicole and Melanie) they offered to send someone back to actually do the job right and a $50 refund. I told them that I was not interested and instead had my credit card company reverse the outrageous charge and file a dispute since the service was not performed. PLEASE do not waste your energy or money on these people.

We had used these cleaners before because we have two very young children and I liked that they were "green" cleaners. The first time they cleaned they were great, but the services have greatly diminished since then. The last time they came, the two women came late and left early and charged us the full $200 for two hours of work. We have a very large home so they only managed to clean 1.5 baths and the kitchen with minor "dusting" in some rooms. The house still appeared dirty after they left. Mind you, the house is always neat, but with both of us working two full time jobs and with two little ones at home, and with the daily dishes and laundry, I don't have much time for the heavy scrubbing and was hoping for some help. Instead, it appears we received very little for our money. We will be looking for new cleaners. Oh and also, we agree with the other reviewers, we were promised that they would come at 7am when we booked the appointment, then the next day the confirmed the time for 8am and merely said "oh well."

They didn't show up until very late, so I had to leave. They assured me they'd shut the door behind them. They left two doors wide open. The house is brand new, everything new, never used and empty- they quoted $295 (pricey!) and charged me $395. The counters weren't even cleaned. The worst part is they scratched my brand new stove top with an abrasive sponge - I had just taken the wrapping off that morning. When I called, they didn't get right back to me, told me to send a photo, and had the audacity to then tell me it was their opinion that they did not damage the stove and it was damaged by the manufacturer and I should call them. They never even came to see it. I totally understand that things happen - however they not only did a terrible job, damaged my new stove, and left the house wide open - but their response to this situation was completely unprofessional. Horrendous.

The very first housecleaning was very good- but the three subsequent cleanings were very poor. The service is very expensive. it cost $300+ for 3 cleaners for 3 hours, or $30 per cleaner per hour for a four bedroom house. On the first visit a "trainee" was sent, a fact I was not informed of. I paid 30+ per hour for this person. I was told that if I signed a contract I would receive half of the money back for the first cleaning. however, the contract that was provided did not specify certain key pieces of information, such as the number of hours that would be provided. Although I sent an email asking questions, I never received a response. I was told that the cleaner that visited on the first visit Janin, who was professional, would be my housecleaner on future visits. Instead, a different person came for each visit. These cleaners were generally un-professonal. The second cleaning two cleaners were sent and worked for only two hours. In two hours they only changed 4 beds, washed the linens and vacuumed and damp mopped the floors. That was all. This cost $192. I complained that they had failed to dust, wash all of the linens and towels, or do anything except the basic cleaning. I was told that more time was needed, and of course more money. This was a bait and switch. Naturally I assumed that the $192 rate I had negotiated was for 3 hours, the same number of hours I received on the initial visit. Instead only two hours of cleaning was provided, and on each visit less and less was done to force me to pay for more time. On the third visit, laundry detergent was left all over the top of the washer, not all linens & towels were laundered, and linens were left in the dryer damp. The cleaners tried to leave without telling me, and before i could pay in cash- the rate is cheaper if you pay in cash. The cleaner sent on this visit was a smoker. I was not informed of this. The things that she touched in my house smelled of smoke. On the final and fourth visit the bed sheets were not dried, and were put away damp in the linen closet. The floors were not all vacuumed or cleaned, and the most important area, the kitchen floor, was neither vaccumed, swept or washed. The entry porch was neither vacuumed or washed and left full of sand. Things were left in the dryer. The beds were not made properly-top sheets were left off. Later I discovered that a bottle of gerwurtztraminer wine was replaced with water! (incredible, but true!) I have complained to American Express about Teresa's service. They refused to refund any of my money even though they were clearly in the wrong and i was very dissatisfied. DO NOT HIRE THIS SERVICE!

Don't hire them!!!!!

We recently found Teresa's a few months ago and have been using them every 2 weeks. The level of professionalism from the office is outstanding. They schedule your appointment, send you an email reminder and call you the day before with a window of time for arrival. The cleaning team is punctual and overall they do a good job. During their initial cleaning they take detailed notes about what they did and how long it took and that becomes the basis for your weekly cleaning. The office has your cc on file so you don't even have to deal with payment on the day of cleaning. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the cleaning details vary depending on the crew that arrives. The price is fair for the quality and the length of time they spend. We are pleased.

I think I explained all above. I honestly have never had an experience like this before. I was shocked when I saw the results of their cleaning & the lack of wanting to make it right,was very upsetting.

I should have listened to the previous reviews on Angie's list stating they were too expensive and they did not do a good job. I didn't because I had read that Theresa gave a lot back to the community and I wanted to give it a try because I have a hard time finding a company that does a good job. I paid for it. I did not feel they did a good job. What I mean by that is when you close the bathroom door I don't expect there to be dirt in the corner. For the amount of money (which is the highest I was ever charged) I would expect that the crew would be knowledgeable on how to clean wood floors but I came home to floors that were soaking wet. When I told the crew that I didn't want them to put that much water on the floors they looked at me blankly. When I called the office they told me that the head person in that crew was reliable and they didn't understand why I had a problem. They said it nicely like they were perplexed. I stopped after a few months because they were dystroying the wood floors. Also some of the women in the crew looked like they were exhausted after cleaning and I felt sorry for them. I remember them leaning on my car out of breath asking me to sign that I liked how they cleaned the house.

All I can say is this company is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!They make you use two girls and they give you a minimum time allowance.If they don't finish within a set amount of time you're out out of luck.The funny thing is they don't even come to the home to take a look at the job to quote accurately. EVERY cleaning service I know of will come to the home first. Trust me this place is a sham and very rude to dissatisfied customers. They did a terrible job at my home. They didn't even dust in my living room!! The reason they never dusted was because I didn't approve the extra time. I didn't even know they needed extra time. All they cleaned was a few rooms with TWO GIRLS and they couldn't finish. Laughable...and wayyy over priced. My present housekeeper is in and out in about five hours and is only ONE personAdditionally, they write responses to reviews on here...don't believe their responses it is a feeble attempt to cover up their substandard work.

Overall Teresa's does a good job. They clean my house every 2 weeks. They don't always dust the tops of things, and occasionally they break things, but they have been good about fixing things. They always leave a note or call me if anything was broken. I think the price is about average for this type of service.

Service depends on cleaners who change week to week.

I used her years ago. I didn't like them. The price was probably reasonable, but I just didn't like them.

They come when they say they are going to come. It is a reputable company and they do a nice job. Their price is good. I would use their service in the future.

Was promised on a first-time cleaning a thorough cleaning, top to bottom, of the main floor of house, as I did not request the upstairs to be done. They did not clean top of refrigerator, top of mouldings -- used a feather duster instead of wet rag to dust, thus missing spots and spreading the dust around. My son's room was BARELY dusted. Piano-type lamp w/green glass shade (only 12'' tall) was full of dust, TV was full of dust, and his bookcase shelf of his headboard was not even dusted at all! I had to ask them, after doing a brief inspection while they were here, if they needed a step stool to reach shelves (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt why they did not go above arm's reach) and they still didn't go above arm's reach. They didn't even dust the top of my husband's armoire, I had to point out that it wasn't done. And tops of picture frames!! Toilet paper roll holder - NOT DUSTED. Some of the baseboards, NOT DUSTED. Light fixtures in bathrooms - NOT DUSTED. Shelving in bathroom - NOT DUSTED. Dining room cabinet, shelves full of dust. I don't believe they put furniture polish on any furniture. I did call and speak to Nicole and she did offer to refund me $25.00, which I feel should have been more. A first time, top to bottom cleaning for what would have been approx $220.00 for 2 hours and 20 minutes (with no nic-nacs) should be thorough. I've had cleaning companies in the past that always did a top to bottom cleaning the first time and it was thorough. I will not be using them again.

They vaccumed, cleaned the bathrooms, and dusted. They did a good job and we would likely use them in the future.

Initial cleaning consists of two women working for $85/hour. They needed 4 hours to clean our condo, this first time. They were very friendly, pleasant and worked hard. They cleaned everything, moving things when necessary. They were very thorough. They bring all cleaning products, which are GREEN, as well as vacuum, etc. We were very pleased with the results. Subsequent cleanings will also include two workers, but at a fixed rate. At the end, they gave me a checklist, and asked that I perform a walk through using their list. Never seen that before from a cleaning service! It was VERY detailed, i.e. check the top of fridge, make sure it has been wiped down, check under beds for vacuuming., etc. Also, Theresa's Family Cleaning is a member of "Cleaning for a Reason", an organization that cleans homes of women with cancer for no charge. This really impressed me, especially since Teresa's is the first NY charter member.

They do a fantastic job and they usually spend out two people do to the cleaning. It usually takes one hour and fifteen minutes and if you aren't happy with the job they will come back and fix it. They have been working.

I was given an estimate of approx $200 to clean my 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath house. They took a credit card and held that amount. 2 girls showed up, very pleasant, and did a very good job. They were at my home for about 3.5 - 4 hours. Of course I was baffled when they were finished and I received a bill for $438. I explained to the woman that yet I was satisfied with the cleaning job, no way did I expect that charge. She then said she gets that reaction a lot. So I called the owner, who in my opinion has no customer service skills, rudely stated her policies. Then, rudely stated that I didn t put a cap on the amount of cleaning I wanted done. I then stated the obvious that I wouldn t be using them again The house was cleaned well, but in no way worth that amount

I think they're fabulous. I would recommend them to my family and friends.

From the first visit the crew was very professional and listened to my needs. They missed some items in the bathroom and the floors had to be redone, but I will give them another chance because of their professionalism and responsiveness.

Overall, I called the office and actually got through on the first try to a human being!!!! The women on the other end was very informative about how they work. I was very impressed and made the appointment immediately. When they arrived, the girls introduced themselves and asked if I would show them the home. We walked through the home, and they began the cleaning. It was a total top to bottom cleaning. They moved everything, which was very important to me. They followed my directions to a tee. It was a pleasure to have hired them.

I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH TERESA'S PERFORMANCE ON MY WINDOWS. THE SERVICE WAS VERY PROMPT. THEY CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME, AND DID A GOOD JOB CLEANING MY WINDOWS.

THEY CHANGED MY DAY FROM MONDAY TO EVERY OTHER MONDAY. I EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED A NEW DAY AND SHE WAS UNWILLING TO WORK WITH ME WITHOUT CHARGING AN EXTRA FIFTY DOLLARS. I FIRED THEM.

TERESA'S DOES A WONDERFUL JOB CLEANING MY HOUSE. THEY ARE RELIABLE, THOROUGH AND A VALUABLE ASSET. I CAN TRUST THEM IN MY HOME AND THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
