Good communication, on time, neat. Great.

wThis was a detailed job requiring planning for wiring as codes have changed for running wires. Garage was utilized as well as garage roof for running new power to house as well as extensive new dedicated wiring from newly installed power box through basement to exterior with circuit breaker to be situated outdoors at rear of house for tub. Job consisted of 1 day for power box upgrade and external lines to house, one day for basement extension wiring and ouside breaker outlet and wires for outside outlets. Lastly the hot tub itself required wiring which took another 1/2 day after tub delivery. Richard's 2 crews utilized were friendly and respectful of property and for most part very thorough on cleanups. I intend to utilize his services in fall for new generator that I would like installed. Richard routed electrician permits to the town's building dept. on time and was kind enought to refer a quality concrete contractor- Joe Rugolo also of RVC.

The job is done. Tough communication, seems easy going but turns out to be very vague. The best price we found but, cuts some corners. My brother in law is an electrician and said some of the parts were cheap. Had to come back to the house to finish things that were missed ...... Not unlike most contractors in this area. Just once I wish someone would come by after and actually check the work that was performed ...... And be honest, fix what should be fixed! Still waiting on a pool filter timer. Who wires a pool and forgets the timer for the filter? Seems to me they didn't want to do it. When they finally came back to do it, The guy tried to install it in our basement ....... A lot of good that would have done in the house! Haven't heard from them since, still waiting on the outdoor timer. Yes, work was done by McDonough Electric - based in Rockville Centre. After having another electrician to the house for different work he actually confirmed how sloppy the work was. He also warned us of a potential violation/problem that they had to come back and fix. They need to be more accountable for their work. Why take advantage of inexperienced home owners? Why not do the job 100% correct the first time? Still waiting on the pool timer!

I did not find McDonough Electric through Angie's List. I have used this electrical contractor for many years and am taking this opportunity to recommend him to other Angie's List members.

To start I felt he was a bit to probing about the address of the house I was buying. Once I told him he assured me that the house was fine. They had been there he said to look into the attic heat not working and were unable to figure it out. I said that was funny as during the home inspection the inspector encountered the same issue but it turns out that there had been a subpanel installed in the attic and that the breaker had tripped. He sounded surprised that they never found the subpanel. If these guys really did come to a house to look at an electrical issue and couldn't trace a line to subpanel thats scary. Plus, I and I have no real basis to prove this, but if he had indicated off the cuff that the house was in good shape electrically and he ever really spent some time there looking at why the attic heat didn't work the guy should have his license revoked. I have been there 2.5 years and have probably spent and gt;$15,000 dealing with electrical problems to get the house wired correctly. What was visible in my home inspection was only the beginning, but that could have been a result of the quality of workmanship the previous homeowner hired, I have no way to tell. All in all there are much better electricians in the area in my opinion. I have had good luck with Mister Sparky (expensive) and Pickney Electric.

They were extremely punctual and reliable. Actually they had to come back a second time because something was wrong with one of the sconces.

Overall, this project went well, but when I asked them to come back for some more work, they arrived on the wrong day, then left without doing any work after there was some confusion on the work that was supposed to be done. The guy actually pulled his guys off the job and walked out, telling us to call him when we were ready to do more work. For someone that claims no job is too small, apparently this next $500 worth of work was not enough to warrant them staying to do the job.

This guy is very good, not to mention very reasonable. He does a great job. He comes when he says he is going to come. He is very professional and I think his rates are very fair too. I am going to have him back to do a few other things. Everything he did this time turned out great. I am real happy.

I was very happy with the overall outcome. He only took 5 minutes to do the kitchen light that my fiance had attempted three different times in the past three months. The ceiling fan looks amazing in our bedroom, and it is very sturdy. They guy could have been a bit nicer, but he did a great job.

Excellent service. Showed up on time, got the work done quickly and charged a fair price.

The owner was very nice on the phone, and had no problems scheduling an exact date. Most electricians wouldn't give me an exact date. They wanted to add it on to another job in the area since it was only a couple of hours job. The electrician who installed the fan did a great job. He was also very neat and patched up my ceiling and walls when he was done. I was told I would have several holes in my ceiling, but he managed to only make one and patched it nicely. He was very nice and cleaned up completely when he was done. Price was also far below all the other quotes I received.

MC DONOUGH ELECTRIC DID A VERY GOOD JOB AND THEY PROBABLY SAVED MY GARAGE FROM CATCHING FIRE. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICES.
