My wife set up two tentative dates with Catherine of Miracle Movers; each date was postponed either due to illness or really bad weather including the most recent "Blizzard of the Century." The move was finally set for today, 2/27/16. We were telephoned by Catherine of MM about a half hour ahead of the provider's arrival and Walter (the owner) showed up right on schedule with two strong, nice young men. We elected to keep the Armoire to the bedroom set (great storage for a house that doesn't have enough closet space) and the guys, under Walter's direction, quickly moved it to a spot in our redone guest bedroom. Then they took the giant Triple Dresser down the stairs without so much as touching any finished surface (after this my heart started beating again). These folks are amazing in their ability to judge space; they were completely confident even when some of the clearances (ceiling fans, threshold, staircase, etc.) were literally less than two inches. After this the Queen sized mattress got wedged down the stairs followed by the split box springs and mattress topper; all were removed and "body bagged" (I supplied the heavy duty bags) and taped (as required by NYSD). Then the two extra large night tables were brought downstairs. Everything was neatly stacked at the curb. Miracle Movers came equipped with protective padding that was clean and properly sized to protect my new Oak staircase, platform and the upstairs hallway. All in all, the guys were here about an hour. Walter, a very nice man, priced the job at $100. I wrote a check for $150 and asked him to tip his workers. This was the best value we received for work performed on time, well done and without incident in quite a while. This enables us to get the remainder of our second floor painted, window treatments installed and carpeted on a schedule that, weather permitting, might allow us to be ready to receive our new bedroom set in about ten days. We are in the final stages of recovering from a 40 month ordeal that began with Hurricane Sandy. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Miracle Movers...Walter, Catherine and their employees. They were wonderful and we would, without hesitation, use them in the future.
