Rob was hired by Fitch Construction to install our vinyl flooring. When we met with Rob on 11/29/13 he said it wouldn't take long to have the floor installed. This was a whole different story once we found out the floor had never actually been ordered. After waiting for more than 3 weeks, the floor was finally delivered on 12/31/13. Due to delays (the holiday, Rob & Fitch having problems and "tricky"weather), he finally delivered the luan on 1/3/14. Install was to originally begin on the 3rd but because of the weather was delayed until 1/6/14. Work started on 1/6 and continued into 1/7 and 1/8. They seemed to rush through on the 7th & 8th as they had other jobs that they were working on. On the morning of 1/8 my husband pointed out the fact that the luan was showing through the vinyl. Rob said he would fix that. Proceeded to take a metal roller over the floor leaving parts of it looking shiny and not fixing the problem with the luan. When that didn't work, he told us it was a defect in our floor per the manufacturer. They had only anticipated on being at my house for a couple of hours on the 8th. Turned out they were there until 1:30 PM. After leaving on the 8th, we noticed that the luan was still showing through the vinyl. Not just in one spot but throughout the kitchen. There were pieces of molding they didn't replace properly or even bother attaching to the wall. Several spots of the floor that were not cut right and the pattern didn't line up. And had reinstalled our island incorrectly. We contacted Fitch the next day. Rob had then spoken to my husband and said that he would come over on 1/12/14 to fix the items. He never called, never showed up and when my husband tried to reach him, he never returned his phone calls. We've had several other contractors come in and tell us that the floor looks atrocious. We've since had to have another contractor re-do our floor. I feel that the financial issues Rob & Fitch were having directly affected the quality of our project. This in no way should have affected how our floor was installed. Rob told my husband several times he was threatening Fitch, telling them he was going to walk out on the job. Not professional at all. If the problems with Fitch were that bad, then he should have not accepted the job. And you should never involved the customer. This was a project that should have been done in about 2-3 days. From beginning to end it took almost 2 months. This is in response to VanCott's response: We had several other people come in to look at the floor and we were told the job was not done properly. We also have pictures to show how the luan was showing through and how in several places the pattern did not line up. The installation of our door was done in the timeframe we were given and was also done properly. They were not the reason for our floor being damaged. That was a whole separate issue. The joists in our house do line up. It was not a structural problem causing the luan to show through. The person who finally did properly install our floor used the same products and there isn't a single issue. I find it interesting here that now you say the joists were the problem but the day after installation told us that it was a known manufacturer defect with the flooring. Yes, Fitch did try to sue you for the cost of the vinyl. And the reason they lost was because your counter-sued. I also have the paperwork. The things that happened during this project were unbelievable. I couldn't make this stuff up. For anyone searching for a flooring person, definitely look at the references. I wish I had. Take the time to research the people doing the work. I joined Angie's for this purpose. Warning people and making sure nobody else has to go through what we went through.

Response from Van Cott Flooring
Fitch Construction was responsible for ordering the flooring. I had no involvement on the purchase of the material and i never had an issue with delivery of material in a timely manner. Also. The Floor was installed properly and the pattern did line up, I have photo's for anyone who wishes to see. The customer themselves were upset with Fitch construction due to untimely coordination of job, The customer had a double glass door installed and from what I understand took a long time to order and install. The installer of the double glass doors damaged the floor and advised the floor installer would correct it..I had advised Fitch construction to have a structural engineer check the joists as it is my beliefs the joists were the cause of the luan seams showing through the linoleum and it was in only 1 spot, Fitch construction never sent out the engineer. I guarentee all my work and I will provide references to anyone who is interested. Also, you can visit my website [hyperlink removed] to see my work or go to Van Cott Flooring on Facebook where I have posted pictures of [member name removed] job and I received high praise, Fitch Construction attempted to sue me for the cost of a new vinyl floor, They lost and I have the paperwork to prove it. Thank you! Rob Van Cott
