They did a good job but they wanted to charge me extra to put in a skylight which should have been included in the estimate. They put in the skylight but I got hit with the bill afterwards.

At first, there was confusion on my part about the contract - we have one strange area that I knew they weren't going to replace but I didn't understand from the paperwork where the transition would be. John, the owner of Trinity came through and made sure I understood everything and was comfortable before they started. I also felt they could have protected my gardens a little better with plywood or something but they look fine a month later. They were VERY careful with our copper porch roof and our adjacent flat garage roof that has a rubber membrane - one single nail would have been bad news. Large busy crew who only stopped for lunch - no lazy guys in this bunch!! Overall I would definitely use them again.

Very pleased. Roofers did a great job!!! John(Owner) gave us an estimate and we called him the next day to tell him that we were using Trinity for our roofing needs. I mentioned that I had a coupon and he wasn't happy. He first said that he didn't know anything about a coupon and he did not put it on Angies List but then said that it needed to be presented at the time of estimate. The coupon did not say that! All the coupon said 5% off a roofing job. He would not honor the coupon. John said that he gives his customers low prices and if he took the coupon he wouldn't make any money. (WOW) I called Angies List and explained the situation. Angies List said that Trinity put the coupon on there and that they had to honor it. If Trinity didn't honor it that they would give us the 5% difference and put a flag on his account. Angies List contacted Trinity. Trinity honored the coupon and called Angies list to changed the coupon to say: coupon must be shown at the time of estimate. My question is why would I show a coupon at the time of estimate? So they can add the 5% on to the estimate and then take off 5% at the end to show what we saved. Overall we are very happy with our roof. I recommend them for anyone that is looking for a new roof but be careful with what the coupons say.

John Hoagland the owner, explained all the details of the roof replacement and gave us an estimate that is reasonable for an uncomplicated roof. His team finished another property the day of the install and started work in the early afternoon. They had completed the work by late afternoon the next day. They put down tarps to protect our lawn and garden. When they were done there was no debris left. The new roof looks great and we are pleased with the work. We have had a lot of rain this week and so far there is no evidence of any leaks.
Description of Work: The house is a raised ranch 45 feet x 25 feet, The roof has a 3 over 12 pitch with no valleys. Removed old antenna base, and a furnace flu vent no longer in use. Removed old roof shingles and roofing felt. Install GAFStorm Guard Ice and Water 6' up on all starter ends of roof including the vertical runs along rooflines. Install GAF Deck Armor underlayment on remainder of roof. Install new aluminum drip edge and replace all rooftop bathoom and kitchen vents. Install GAF Pro Start starter strips. Install a GAF Timberline HD architectural shingles with a LTD Lifetime Warranty. Replace flashing where needed. Close existing box vents and install new GAF Cobra Snow Country ridge vents to ensure proper ventilation to main house roof.Install GAF Seal-n-Ridge cap shingles. Installed new flashing as needed.

I called a number of roofing contractors all with varying degrees of punctuality and professionalism. By the time I gave Trinity a call I was getting tired of it, but I really wasn't satisfied with what I had seen thus far. When I called the office, I actually got a human being and not an answering service or a voice mail. I scheduled an estimate within the next couple of days. This is already an improvement. Right from the get-go John was on time, professional, knowledgeable and not overly sales-y. He offered up a stack of literature on the products he'd be using (nobody else did) and explained his business philosophy. Because the roof was leaking during heavy downpours, he offered to bump me ahead in his schedule if I offered him the job. John's pricing was extremely competitive and all things considered, I was more than happy to give him the job. And it was clear he was appreciative of that. The start date was a couple weeks out but that was already quicker than what other contractors offered. Glen and the roofing crew showed up and went to work. These guys -- Glen in particular -- were super professional and a pleasure to deal with. This roof was no picnic, with a steep pitch, multiple valleys, dormers, and pipes sticking out of the roof. Throw in some cranky tenants and 95 degree temps but Glen was the ultimate professional about it all. He communicated what was going on and had good rapport with the neighbors. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the day, and at the end of the job the grounds looked better than when they started. The roof looks great and looking around the neighborhood I can tell it's a quality job (e.g. no weave in the valleys). It hurts to spend that kind of coin but I was happy to do so with John and Glen.
Description of Work: Complete tear off of existing roof (2 layers of shingles + cedar shakes). Re-decked the roof with plywood. Installed ice and water shield, deck armor underlayment, architectural shingles, ridge vents, and reflashed chimney. 50-year non-prorated warranty on the roof.

It appeared to be going well. His subcontractors were very neat and clean and respectful of my 95 year old mom who was home during this. They removed the tub without doing any damage to our very tiny bathroom. As the installation was underway I noticed things were not progressing as we contracted for and the level of workmanship was not as expected. They never installed new backerboard so the tile is not very even. And John had promised to reinforce the areas where the grab bars were to go and since the walls were not removed this did not happen. Fast forward to end of project. First shower, basement leaking from drain that was rigged like with duct tape? The shower fixture had never been anchored. The bottom of the shower door came off. The two coats of paint were barely one and the tile had not been cleaned of grout. To their credit John was resposive and came out with his subcontractor to take care of these things. And after a few more showers noticed the door was not functioning properly and noticed it had been installed crooked. We are currently trying to resolve this last issue. This was not an example of a professional and at one point John actually insulted me by saying I was looking for problems. All I was looking for was a job well done and not one where I stand there every day disappointed with my choice of contractors. Update: I contacted Kohler who was the door manufacturer and they recommended having someone come out and evaluate. They advised door was installed incorrectly and I am trying to work with Kohler and possibly Trinity to correct this.
Description of Work: We hired Trinity to do a tub to shower conversion. This entailed taking out tub and tile, installing new backerboard, a shower base, new tile, shower doors, faucets, grab bars and repainting

I told Nichole it was a small job when I scheduled the appointment and she said that wasn't a problem for them. When John came out to do the estimate, he told me it was a small job (no kidding, but it was still going to cost me over $1000). He gave me a nice sales brochure and said he would have an estimate for me at the end of the week, but it didn't come. I called and spoke to Nicole two weeks later and she said they were very busy and would check with John to see where he was at with the estimate, but again, I never heard back from either of them. Why come out to do an estimate if you can't provide it? Probably just another gravy shopping contractor.

At the time of the visit to your home i told you specifically it was a job we probably would'nt do due to the small size of the project and our current overloaded work schedule. I probably should have communicated that better, and for that i apologize. We wish the best of luck with you projects. Best regards, John Hoagland

He and his crew were very professional through out the whole process. John was very knowledgeable, helpful and answered all my questions. The did a complete tear off, fixed a few problem areas and also trimmed a tree that overhung on my home. I was very satisfied with the whole process. The crew was great, cleaned up every nail and showed real concern about how they left the area when the were done at the end of each day.

After paying for materials and waiting all winter for new windows to be installed, we received a late night call saying our contractor had passed away and the family did not know what was happening with our project. In contacting the window supplier we were told the windows were in and had been since January but they had not been paid for. We discussed our options with them and they reached out to John Hoagland owner of Trinity Home Renovations, Inc. to see if he could step in and take over the project of installing a Sliding glass door to replace 2 windows, 2 replacement Bathroom windows and a front picture window. John stopped by the next day, took a look at the project and said he would honor our previous contractors price as close as possible and he would get started as soon as he could possibly within the next month. Two days later he called and said he had rearranged his schedule so his crew could start on Monday. We were thrilled that at 8:30 Monday morning Mike & Vicky showed up with John reviewed the plan and at 9:15 our windows and door were delivered. That's when the fun started! All three windows were the wrong measurements by anywhere from 1/8 of an inch to 3 1/2 inches. and the door was the wrong depth and width for the wall opening . Mike brainstormed with John and they figured out how to make the materials work without needing to get new windows which would cost us additional money. Mike & Vicky got started on the demolition and had the front window in by the end of the day. Vicky did an amazing job of keeping the dust and trash down to a minimum and cleaned up each day wonderfully. We ended up with the windows we wanted, and unexpectedly all new siding on the back of the house where the new door was installed because the siding we removed was to short to use on the new opening. John has a sider come and wrap the trim on the windows and reside the back of the house and still stayed within the 4 day time frame for the job. Nothing phased him, he is a true professional, including having a dumpster come and get all the trash on the last day rather than blocking the driveway for the four days of the project. We highly recommend Trinity Home Renovations and are currently considering using them for a new deck off the new sliding door they installed.

The owner, John Hoagland, came to inspect the roof and give me an estimate. He was on time and did a thorough inspection. He explained the products he uses, warantee, installation, etc. His price was $2000.oo less than another (large) company. I was very impresses with his professionalism. His crew arrived on time and completed a complete tear-off and instllation of over 2000 sq. ft. in 2 days. My property was cleaned up after each day and the dumpster removed the next day. The crew did some extra flashing and caulking arount the chimney and where the addition connects to the main roof at no extra cost. I was very impresses with the finished roof. I will reccomend them to others.

We received estimates from 8-10 roofers over the last year. We decided to go with John as he seemed very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We were scheduled within a weeks time. The sub contracted team showed up right on time. They worked very hard and quickly. We were promised, what they took off the first day would be finished by the time they left, this did not happen. About a 1/3 of the back roof was left with everything installed but shingles. The roofers did put in a good 10 hour day. Day 2, roofers came right at 8:30am and got to work. We periodically stepped out to look at the progress. During one trip, we noticed the garage (which has layers: plywood/shingles/plywood/shingles) looked like it still had the multiple layers and our understanding was that all layers of shingles (2 layers) and the top most plywood layer would be taken off and if needed bottom layer of plywood would be replaced. It turns out that removing the bottom layer would cause structural damage. We understand this but WE WERE NEVER CONTACTED to be told this and therefore, our understanding of the contract was going to be altered, as in we were not getting a complete tear off on the garage. We had to reach out to the roofers and then John to see why this was. My two complaints are 1. We were not contacted at all about this (who knows if we ever would have been told) and 2. LESS work was done but the contracted price was not altered. The whole situation was unsettling with us. We also questioned the look of the shingles as they look to be curling upward and the vent at the peak looks uneven and like they could blow off on a good windy day. The answer we were provided was that the shingles and vent need to have the sun beat down on them to melt them to fit better. Hope this happens because currently, it looks like an older roof and not a brand new one. For us, communication is key in this type of industry and we felt out of the loop. We were hoping to come away loving this roof (as much as you can love a roof) but we just have a huge uneasy feeling. We have some issues that still need to be attended to. I hope to be able to add more positive feedback to this review as they attend to the "problems" in a reasonable time. The roofers did a good job cleaning up, we only found 10 nails! I was expecting a lot more. We did lose a hydrangea bush which is unfortunate but hopefully it will come back next year. Also, remember the coupon through Angie's list, sadly we forgot ours.

Went great! The crew was on time, highly professional, and friendly. They worked well together, did a nice job, and cleaned up the site. The materials were delivered on time and the dumpster was removed the next morning. I specified a specific brand and color of shingles (to match the main rook on the house) which John (the owner/operator) ordered for me even though he doesn't usually use this shingle brand. The old shingles were removed in record time and Mark (the crew lead) examined the decking to determine which sheets had to be replaced. The original estimate was for eight (8) sheets and they actually used 7 1/2 sheets. I wanted a roof vent installed even though this is an unheated space because the garage gets pretty hot during the summer. John originally estimated that his crew would take less than a day to complete all the work. It actually took the 5 man crew about 6 hours from start to finish. A really professional job!

After a roof inspection in March, a new roof was recommended. John, the owner of Trinity Home Renovations, gave me a detailed estimate including all the materials and manufacturer. I was able to use this information to make an informed decision on both the accuracy of the cost estimate and the durability of the product he was recommending. While the estimate was designated as good for 30 days, John was willing to extend this date when the process for getting my home equity loan took longer than expected. The work was projected to start mid-May, with the exact date to be determined both by work scheduled prior to mine and the unpredictable delays caused by our rainy, Rochester spring. John consistently communicated when to expect the work to start and provided constant updates based on where my job was in the queue. He called on the Thursday prior to the start date and said work would be begin on Monday, 5/19 at 8:00. John and the work crew arrived exactly on time. John told me to expect most of the work to be done within two days. The work on the soffit vents would follow the next day. The chimney work was to be completed once the roof was finished. All the work was completed exactly within the time John estimated. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Clean-up was excellent. Out of the thousands of nails that must have come out of the old roof, I found only two near the back stairs. I would definitely use Trinity Home Renovations for other major projects that I might need in the future.

It went very well! They waited to come out to perform the work when they knew it would be dry and warm. Our skylights had been leaking when it rained hard - since they were sealed - we have had multiple rain storms and no leaks so far! Very happy with this purchase and I will possibly be using them in a few years for a complete roof replacement.
Description of Work: I purchased the roof maintenance package from the Angie's List "Big Deals". John and his crew were very professional and efficient. They did a thorough roof inspection, provided pictures and sealed our 3 skylights and chimneys. I also asked for a new roof estimate as our roof is near the end of its life.

The work was done on the first day the temperature exceeded 45 degrees this past March. John from Trinity Home Renovations was very responsive to my request and proactively contacted me about doing the job on the first day the weather permitted. After the work was done, he contacted me the next day with the news I had already expected, I need a new roof. When I purchased the house in 1999, the inspector told me at that time to expect to replace the roof within the next ten years, so fifteen years later, it comes as no surprise. John provided photographic evidence of the problem areas and a detailed proposal as to the extent of the repairs needed. His description of the work almost exactly mirrored what the original inspector said would have to be done when I got a new roof. I feel very confident that Trinity Home Renovations submitted a fair and reasoned proposal of work.
Description of Work: This was a special deal on Angie's List: Here's the Deal: $99 for a roof maintenance package Package includes: a roof inspection, minor roof repairs, caulking exposed nail heads on flashing, resealing around any unsealed pipe collars, exhaust fans, vents, and chimney flashing up to four penetrations, and any other general maintenance Providing photos of other areas in need of repair and a summary report on any potential plan of action (if needed)

The couple who came to do the work were awesome. She cleaned up very well every day. My husband is disabled and home all day so it is hard to have people in the house for a week but they were very pleasant. The finished product looks great! So far we have used Trinity for our new roof and for this. We plan to use them again in the future.
