Description of Work: Here is the short version: Sunrise closed the pool successfully last fall. Their opening this June caused many problems, ending with a destroyed set of pool steps, so I definitely did not feel my $270 was well spent. For details, see below. | |I contacted Sunrise in the fall because of high ratings on Angie's List. They recommended somebody else to fix pool leaks, and then they closed the pool. The cover stayed on thru the winter (which hadn't happened in two other cases)so I called them in May about opening in June. They didn't respond to the first message I left, so it was the last week of May when I called again He said they'd try to get here Monday or Tuesday--sooner than I expected. Based on other experiences I figured I'd hear from them late Tuesday or after that, but when I woke up Monday morning to the neighbor's dog barking, a guy was working on the pool. (I'm old, with insomnia. Often sleep late unless there's a morning appointment.) By the time I got dressed and out there he was gone. The steps had been dropped in with no railing attached, top left off the little shed housing the motor, and a HUGE pile of decaying leaves in the bottom of the pool. I called the Sunrise # to ask if he was done, and he was. The man was polite and listed what their "pool opening" includes. I said my idea of pool opening was to have it ready to swim in. He sent the young man back (I'm not sure what day that was) and he was polite, too. He attached the stair rail, said it needed a screw but he didn't have one, and asked if I wanted him to clean out the leaves. I said I didn't want to pay extra; I guessed I could get the leaves out myself. (At that time I wasn't sure how they got there, but when I had time to think about it they had to have fallen in when he took off the cover--probably because it's harder for one person alone to prevent that.) A couple of days later I discovered the strainer lid was on so tight it wouldn't budge. The strainer was so full of "cotton" I had to stop running the motor. I bought a rubber mallet; I worked on that lid every day until giving up in frustration--while also scooping out leaves with the long-pole skimmer every day. After a week or two I called Sunrise, saying that I would pay for a service call if they weren't responsible for the too-tight strainer lid (tho I was quite sure I hadn't put it on that way myself: the handles were so tight against hoses that I couldn't get my hands in there.) He said they'd send somebody over. If they ever came, I didn't see or hear from them. Three days later my son was able to get here. He worked on the %*#! strainer lid until he got it open. When I finally got to swim in the pool I found that the steps were unstable, just tethered to the deck by the railing. I was extremely cautious in using them, until one day when I started to put my foot on the top step there was a loud CRACK! and the plastic around where the railing fits into the steps broke off altogether, stairs going sideways into the water, bottom step sticking up. Now I have ruined stairs. For this I paid $270??!
