Hawkeye Glass Block and Basement Solutions

I was very impressed with them from start to finish. The person who came to give us a quote took multiple measurements of all the windows to ensure the new ones would fit well. The installer did a great job as well. Our siding is old stucco, which covered the old window frames, and he was able to remove the old windows without damaging the stucco. He installed them very well, and cleaned up the debris and all well too. The windows look very nice and seem well-made. The price was competitive.

Great, the guys got there on time, worked fast and quick but did not sacrifice quality. Looks amazing for a great price. I could tell the main worker was salaried, he really cared about efficiency, quality, and clean-up. He sounded more like a business owner than an employee!

I went online to the Hawkeye web site to request a quote and never got a call back. It was not until I contacted Vanguard and spoke to a rep that I was able to schedule an appt for an estimate. I was told the website was having issues. There was another communication breakdown someplace in their system. I was given a time slot but the installers did a job before mine which did make my install later than I was told. They had tried to call me but only had my home phone. The house being done was at a different location which is where I was. I had not given them my cel. The window instillation went smoothly, the glass and old wood frame debris was picked up and carted away. I did find some pieces of glass here and there and disposed of them myself. The windows look very nice and make the basement much brighter and warmer. The installers were very professional and answered my questions.

Installer arrived on time. He got the job done in about 5 hours including cleanup. All of the old windows and trash was taken with the installer when he left.

The salesman was excellent and very easy to get ahold of. Scheduling the job was easy even with the holidays. The guys that showed up to do the work came on time. They came in an unmarked van and dressed in normal street clothing that I would wear to go run errands in. They were knowlegable about the project. They did not use any safety gear (glasses, masks etc.). They said they had broken tools and I had to provide them a screwdriver. They worked quickly, I hope they werent rushed by the company, they mentioned they had 2 other jobs to do that day. They quality was just alright, for the money I paid I expected more attention to detail on the motor work inside my house, I know my basement isn't catalogue perfect but I want it to look nice. They mad an effort to clean up my basement but lacked basic tools to do so such as a broom and dust pan. I am still finding bits of manonary and a ton of dust on the floor. They job was done in a timlely fashion but more attention to detail would have been appreaited.

They were punctual, quiet and professional, and did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. The price was right, and they met a quote I received from a different company. We selected this company because their guarantee is for a lifetime for labor and materials, and the guarantee is transferable should we move from this home. So far, very happy with how they look and hope that they will keep back the water. If not, they said to call them, as that is guaranteed with their company.

He brought samples and gave excellent explanations of my choices, and of the installation process. The installers arrived exactly on time and completed the job in pretty amazing time. The work was done well, and the installers were very careful to clean everything up before leaving. The cost exactly matched the estimate I was given. I'm completely satisfied, and would recommend Hawkeye to anyone.

I saw their SALE ad and contacted them via email, and Mike got right back to me and set up an appointment for an estimate. Their estimate was exactly the same as their SALE ad, and we set up an appointment. They installed two vented and two solid windows and they are EXACTLY what I hoped they would be - PERFECT!!!

I finally decided to consider replacing my original basement windows from 1954. I called Vanguard and asked questions about the benefits of glass block windows. They were very friendly and informative, and set up an appointment for a rep to come to my home. Days later, I met with Mike Price at my home. He was fully prepared with literature and samples; and was very forthcoming and professional with his answers to all my questions. He was very understanding of my need to stay within a budget, and was empathetic to my need to evaluate this project against other areas of my home that showed concern. He addressed the importance and the value of committing to the new basement windows; and explained why his service and product exceeded other competitors. I was very comfortable dealing with this man, and decided to commit to the windows that day. Too many salesmen have come to my house and acted like pushy car salesman...but, Mike was nothing like that. I felt like a friend had come over to teach me about glass block windows. It turns out the company's name is actually Hawkeye Glass Block and Basement Solutions; but, they still carry the Vanguard name. The man who came to install the windows was very nice and professional. The quality of the work was great, and he did it all in a timely manner. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. He took away all the old windows, and did a nice job cleaning up the basement mess. We looked at all the windows together when he was finished, and went over last minute questions. I was very happy with this man as well. Very good experience overall. I would recommend these guys. .

I just had the job done today. It was delayed because it rained. I am very very pleased with their service. The service representative and the worker that came to the house were both very nice and they answered all of my questions. They advised me on what I should do with one window that was a little bit different. The worker was very clean. He cleaned up all the debris from the old windows and all the dust that was created in the basement. I am very very happy with the job. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Came quickly, very professional. Installed custom windows within a week. House is a 100+ yo converted barn. which usually presents problems when work is done. Installer did a was great job, windows look great and all materials were removed. They came on time, did the work in the time frame they stated. I would definitely use them again and have recommended them to family.

Very well. They came and measured windows and gave price. Returned two weeks later with the windows custom sized and intalled them in about 90 minutes.

They were very responsive to my phone call request for an estimate. A representative was at my house within days of the first phone call. The estimate/quote was written up on the spot. He had samples with him to select the style of block. I thought the quote was very reasonable and signed immediately. It was very close to Christmas and I was going to be off of work for a week or so. He accommodated that timeframe so that I would not have to take additional time off of work. The windows were installed on Christmas Eve! I was home with no company yet and was very surprised that they were working that day. I jumped at it as I would be returning to work the following week. The install day arrived and the installer arrived on time. He worked until done without a peep from him. The project was extremely neat with him leaving zero mess. The area inside and out was completely picked up of all debris with no impact on my landscaping. Absolutely beautiful job done! The windows are gorgeous even though they are tucked into my very old basement. It was a pleasure and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a glass block company. A++++

John gave me good advice about the style of glass block and which windows to have vents with the block. The replacement went very quickly even though he had to install several rows of cement block to change the size of the opening. Good clean up, fast install, and best price. Happy with the job.

Making an appointment over the phone was a pleasure, and estimator Mike Price actually called early and asked if we were ready or whether we wanted to wait for the original appointment. We opted for early, and he showed up as promised, took a look at the windows in question, showed us the options, and quoted a price in writing (honoring a 10% off coupon for veterans), and set up an appointment for the work, all in 30 minutes. Installers Brad and Jeff (the owner) showed up on time (after a phone call the day before warning us that they'd be an hour later than the original appointment), and started right away. My house is more than 70 years old, but they were in and out in about an hour, after having replaced all 5 windows (in the rain) and done their cleanup....which brings me to my ONLY complaint: The cleanup was less than I'd have hoped. It's not that they made no effort, but while they did sweep around the immediate work area, some rather large pieces of the cement mount for the old windows, as well as a couple of pieces of the old frames, remained for US to clean up after they left. Basically, they crowbar the old frames out, and pieces of the cement mount and window frame sometimes go flying; when sweeping up, they didn't look very far for these pieces. On the other hand, they noted a couple of holes in the block walls of our basement where upgrades to the mechanicals over time had required re-routing of pipes and flues, and they took the time to fill these in. Kudos to them for that. All in all, they were quick, efficient, friendly, and obviously experienced. I would have no problem calling them again and would definitely recommend them to friends.

I would rate them high overall. I just thought that they were very professional. They showed up when they said they would and they completed the job quickly. It was all clean. The owner was very nice and he actually came himself. I would recommend them definitely to anyone.

They were prompt with the appointment, and did quality work. the basement is much brighter! And no worries about water leaking as these new windows are water tight. I would recommend them for this type of work

After I broke my basement window with my lawnmower, I called Vanguard to come out and estimate replacing the broken window with a glass block window. A sales person came out the next day, measured the window, showed me the choices for replacement, gave me the price and we scheduled the work to be done. The installer, George, was on-time, completed the work in a very timely fashion, and cleaned up after the job.

They replaced 3 basement windows with glass block versions - one has a dryer vent, the other two have fresh air vents. The company offered several choices of styles and venting. The windows look nice and we are satisfied with the work performed.
