I called months ago to schedule an estimate for a new roof. Spoke to a nice guy who told me someone would call back to schedule the estimate. I never got a call. Maybe they're so good they really don't need the business. Needless to say, I didn't call back and have since scheduled to pay another company $12000 to replace my roof.

Got an estimate in September, booked the job and paid the deposit in October, was told that the work would be done by Thanksgiving. Three phone calls and many excuses later, the job is not done by the second week of December. When I call to talk to Randy the scheduler (who is very hard to get in touch with, does not return phone calls), he doesn't seem to remember my job, or that he is supposed to "find a carpenter" (his words) to straighten the back wall (part of the proposed job) before the work can be done. Meanwhile my neighbor - who hired a different company two weeks ago - has a new roof. Graves agreed to return my deposit. Very disappointed in this company.

I got quotes from 3 well known area roofers. I chose Graves as the best value based on the most thorough estimate/presentation by Steve C. and recommendations from friends and neighbors that had used Graves. Steve also suggested we get come long overdue ceiling insulation. Overall price was competitive. Randy A. was very helpful scheduling the job at mutual convenience. The insulation was done concurrently with roofing. Jamie P. and his 2 man crew were very hardworking and efficient, completing the job in 1.5 days. The clean-up was great.

Very well. Steve Caamano is the estimator and he is very thorough and accurate. We had a bit of an issue because the closing of the house got pushed back the job. Getting back on the calendar was a little problematic but got taken care of after some back an forth with the main office. Randy and Jamie run the roofing jobs and they were great. You can tell this is not their first rodeo. I was surprised that the job was done in approx 8 hours but I guess when you have 6 guys working it goes pretty quick. Randy met up with me a few days after the work was completed to review the job with me and answer any questions. I would definitely keep them in mind for any future home improvement projects.

It was a tear-off of a 30 year old duplex roof. I had tenants on both sides in the city of Rochester where space between houses is limited. They were very professional through out the process. They possessed a keen eye on quality. There project management was a bit lacking and there were a few things missed (ordinary issues) but overall it was a great experience. There quote was $2000 under the average and I had four different contractors quote the job. I even had someone quote as high as $20,000.

What a pleasant experience...every person I had contact with was patient, professional , and very attentive. Obviously a highly skilled group of tradesman. Superior work at a very reasonable price. Back in October to replace Windows.

The crew was right on time, fantastic and thorough. They installed 11 windows and 1 Steel Door. They also repaired the frame of the door and one window. Outstanding workmanship. The crew was just great to work with. If I could rate them an A+ I would.

A dumpster was set up in my driveway, and the entire tear-off and installation took about 9 days. The person doing most of the work was very experienced and skilled, and worked diligently each day. The end result was very impressive.

A crew arrived early and were done by the end of the day. If it wasn't for the new shingles and ridge vents visible on the roof, I wouldn't even had known anyone had been there. Cleanup was thorough.

We used Graves Bros Home Improvement Co. They were here September of 2013. It cost between 12 and 14 thousand dollars. I had to call them back a few times to fix a couple of things. The price I would say was initially fine but then they tried nickel and dimeing me for certain things like I needed a counter cut, the stove moved and I felt like they were nickel and diming me, which I did not appreciate. The guy that had actually did the work was good the guy that I had the communication with to actually organize the job wasn't quite as good. He was very punctual. Some of the fine detail work like I said I had to have him come back a couple of times but over all he was a good worker. The worker was an A for professional and his boss was a C.

We initially got an estimate for a solar panel system from a different provider.? During the preliminary survey work, it was discovered that there was mold in the attic that would require replacing several 4 x 8 sheets of roofing.? Since the house was 20 years old and would need a new roof sometime in the next 5 years, we decided to get all the roof work done before getting a solar system. We got roofing estimates from four local companies.? The one that really stood out was from Grave's Bros.? The estimator who came to our house, Steve Camano, was probably the biggest factor in choosing Graves to do the work.? He came fully prepared with his own ladder, went up into the attic, took pictures and video of the mold, and determined that the mold was probably due to the improperly routed bathroom vents.? When we mentioned that part of the reason we were doing this was because we were interested in a solar panel system, his response was "I'm going to give you a proposal that will save you a lot of money."? Within a few days Steve returned with a complete proposal for not only a new roof, but also all the mold remediation, rerouting of the bathroom vents, AND a complete solar panel system.? The roofing estimate alone was as good or better than all the the other estimates, and that's including the mold remediation, fixing the vents, rerouting/removing other roof vents to better accommodate the solar system, and increasing the warranty to 50 years materials/25 years workmanship/20 years transferable (Graves uses GAF roofing products).? For the solar system (also through GAF), we were given plenty of technical information about the system (engineers like me will be very happy), how long the payback period would be based on our projected utility bill savings, and all the federal, state, and local tax credits for which we would be eligible.? The clincher was that the solar system would pay for both itself and the new roof in a little over 18 years. The work crew did one day of work before Thanksgiving, then finished up EVERYTHING the following week.? Graves took care of all the paperwork and arrangements with the town and the utility company.? All the debris was cleanup up and hauled away with no damage to any of our landscaping.? Final system inspection and system turn on happened a week later, which was important because it enabled us to claim our solar tax credits for the 2015 tax year.? We did our taxes in early February 2016 and received all of the tax credits that we were expecting. All the people on the Graves/GAF team, both labor and management, were very responsive and courteous, and answered all our questions.? We are extremely happy with both the new roof (LOOKS GREAT) and the solar system (LOOKS COOL!) and would enthusiastically recommend the Graves/GAF team to everyone.? Bonus thrill:? for the month of March we generated more electricity than we used!

- Graves Bros was excellent. I worked with 5 roofers to get quotes. Professional, knowledgeable, and service oriented. Everything was done to a very high level of professionalism, amazing in this day and age. Price was not the lowest, but value was best. - I checked 6 local references for Graves out of a list of hundreds it provided, and everyone shared a positive experience - BIG MISS: While Graves Bros was excellent in every way, GAF roofing product is yet to prove itself. GAF could not provide even 1 decent reference. I waited and delayed weeks to give GAF the opportunity to respond with examples of home owners who have lived under the GAF product for years, but GAF could not/would not provide any references. My old roof was disintegrating before my eyes, so I couldn't wait any longer and decided to go with Graves Bros because of its professionalism. But if I had more time, I would have worked longer to find a proven roofing system. As strongly as I recommend Graves Bros, I do not recommend GAF due to lack of a track record for its products and poor responsiveness.

"Estimator" came out to the house after I waited 3 weeks to get the estimate. He came to the house unannounced. He was supposed to show at a time of day when we were home. He did not. He came while we were at work. No phone call mentioning time change, or cancellation. He left no estimate, and only left a folder full of brochures in the mailbox. No notes, no follow up phone calls. Just blew us off. As of today 11/9/15, No estimate and no further contact from Graves Bros. I would not recommend this business. Having been a contractor, I can say that this is no way to conduct business, and I definitely would not trust any work based on the service before the sale. Or lack of service! Follow up to his response.: I work for a living, and I didn't call you back right away. I admit that. What the h*** does that have to do with you not providing an estimate or showing up unannounced. You are a bunch of hacks, and obviously I am not the only person that has given you a bad review for follow up (or lack of) and estimates. By the way, take my name off of your post, immediately!

As I sit here watching water drip through my ceiling two months after the new roof was installed, I am reminded that I made a huge mistake hiring Graves Brothers to do the work. My initial contact with Graves Brothers was fantastic, Steve came out to do the estimate and was very professional. He was well versed in roofing design and was able to discuss the various issues I had with the roof. He told me a ridge vent was the way to go and that would allow us to eliminate the ugly box and other vents sticking through the roof deck. Steve is the reason I picked Graves Brothers for the job. I figured since Steve was intelligent and professional I could rest assured the company behind him would be the same. Dave contacted me with a start date and that date came and went without any word from Dave. I arrived home on August 20 to a crew of 6 guys finishing up my roof (I had no idea they were going to be here on this date). They were NOT Graves Brothers but some no name crew contracted by Graves Brothers. This crew did not know the first thing about roofing, yes they could throw shingles on the roof but they had no concept of proper ventilation techniques or how to properly transition from a pitched roof to a flat roof. Despite the fact that I clearly marked the vents to be removed (per Steve's recommendation) every vent was replaced with another vent and I ended up with more vents in the roof than I started with. Had the roofers known anything about roofing they would not have replaced box vents when they were installing a ridge vent. Because of this no name group of guys my roof leaked from day one but I didn't know this until much later. I complained to Steve who referred me to Dave. Dave told me he would get back to me but he never did. I finally heard from Dave when I emailed the owner of the company stating my dissatisfaction and including pictures. A few days after talking to Dave I came home to another guy on my roof. I asked him who he was and he told me he was going to fix the issues but he couldn't do them today (Friday afternoon) because he found a major problem. That problem was the transition to the flat roof. There was no overlap and the joint was leaking and would only get worse. He came back the following week and fixed the issues. Leaving the area that transitions to the flat roof cut back and looking like crap. I didn't bother contacting Graves Brothers at this point and figured I'd just wait. Not once was I notified when they sent people out to work on my roof, they would just show up, unexpected... A few weeks later Dave leaves me a voice message asking for payment. I emailed the owner again who didn't bother to contact me but had Dave reply to me. Dave told me the way the transition was left is "standard practice" which I'm still laughing about. Standard practice would have done the transition right the first time. Standard practice is to remove box vents when installing a ridge vent... So I have little faith in what Dave tells me and my roof still looks bad. I finally sent payment yesterday which was another big mistake since today I woke up to water leaking through the roof. I've had it... My experience with Graves Brothers is the worst I've ever had... Then again who exactly did my roof? Maybe if Graves Brothers actually did the work with craftsmen like Steve who understand roofing instead of some cheap subcontractor, I would be writing a different review. What I got was a crappy $2,500 roof for $5700. I chose to pay more because I expected more. Maybe my job was to small for Graves Brothers to care about. Maybe I need to spend $30,000 on a roof before they will send out craftsmen instead of unskilled labor. Frankly, I could have done a better job. It looks like because the house is a mess they decided that the roof didn't need any attention to detail. Once I signed the contract with Graves Brothers the communication was horrible. Oh, and my roof is leaking... Great job Graves Brothers...

We couldn't be happier with the job they did. The house looks great. The guys doing the work were friendly, neat and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company to a friend.

Called them on 06/18 (Thursday) and left a message that I wanted an estimate to construct an addition on my garage and work that was needed on the back porch. They called back the next day (Friday) and said a sales person would call on Monday. So far no problem. Did not receive a call on Monday. Called them back in Tuesday and told them if I didn't hear back by tomorrow, don't bother to contact me. Received a call from a salesman within an hour and set up an appointment for an estimate on Monday 06/29. The salesman showed up on time, wrote down what work was needed, took measurements, and I gave him a tape location map showing where the addition was going. That was the last time I ever heard from them! Don't waste your time calling them, thay apparently don't need any work!

Still have not received any estimate. Have emailed multiple times and we are now over 3 weeks later and still no estimate. I don't know what else to do. I guess this company is satisfied with all the good reviews to where they don't need new business. If that is the case, get off Angies list.

I am very pleased with the job Graves Bros. Inc. did removing my old roofs and installing my new one. In the initial meeting, Steven Caamano was very thorough in informing me what was available in roofing materials and what the process of roofing a house was all about. He was very helpful in helping me choose a color. The fellows who did the work were very polite and the foreman was very patient with any questions I might have had. You could tell they took pride in the work they were doing. Dave Cavalieri then came in a followup visit after the work was done to make sure I was satisfied with the job. I am more than pleased with my new roof and I would highly recommend Graves Bros Inc. to anyone who is contemplating getting a new roof.

Excellent job. The men came on time, they cleaned up when done I couldn't have asked for a better job. The roof was 6 years old and the work was done by another contractor who did a terrible job. The roof started leaking 3 years ago, and I contacted the contractor who did the job 6 yrs ago. Had to repeatedly call him to come out and fix the roof. We had a very bad winter and the roof just gave way. In the spring I called Graves Bros to come out and give us an estimate. They sent a rep out the next day he examined the interior and exterior of the roof. He found that the new plywood installed 6 years ago was covered in black mold and no air ventilation. I agreed on the price and in May, Graves Brother came out tore out the old roof, built Sofits for air flow, new plywood new roofing material and gutters. The job was quick, the workers were fantastic, and the job was done quickly. I would recommend Graves Bros over and over again.

Arrived on a Monday to assess how he'd tackle the job and quickly came up with a plan to fix all issues over three days. Couldn't have went better.

excellent job!!! The team worked like a well oil machine. Never saw the guys standing around, sitting, drinking coffee, smoking. Complete professionalism. Dave called me every day to let me know what was done and where we were at with the job. Complete job done in 3 1/2 days. Clean up was unbelievable. I have only found 3 nails since they left and those were not in the driveway. I will have them come back to do more work on my house. I won't even search for another contractor.

Everything went well with the exception of the tile floor in the family room. The cement slab on the floor was uneven and I feel that they should have either leveled the floor better or installed a new subfloor. Several of the tiles ended up higher than the others. They tried to fix with more grout but that did not work very well. Covered some of it up with a rug, but you could still feel the raised tiles under the rug. I would give them a D for the tile floor. They were supposed to come back and finish the sides of a two-step stairway. In their defense, I never followed up to remind them. Both Ron and Phil were very friendly and didn't seem to mind my constant changes. Ron was always on time and worked hard all the time he was here.
