Brad was to be at my house at 10 AM, he called me at 10 to tell me he was running a little late which I appreciated. When he did arrive, I asked him to put on some booties so that he did not track on our carpet, which he did. I took him to the bathroom and showed him the project. He said it would cost about $250 or if I did not want the job done, it would be $40 for him coming out and looking at the job. Not knowing how big the job would be, I said OK. He then had me sign a blank page on a i-pad that he had. Brad then proceeded to replace the cartridge in my shower. He also commented that I should turn down the temp of the hot water heater, which I appreciated and have done. I asked if he would honor a $25 coupon I got from an Angie's list booklet and he said yes. When he finished, he had me sign his blank screen i-pad 2 more times and I gave him my credit card. I asked him if I could have a copy of the bill and he said to call the office to get one. The bill was $258.21. THE TOTAL TIME HE WAS AT MY HOUSE FROM START TO FINISH WAS 45 MINUTES. I begin to think, how much does he charge per hour to get to that amount? Or maybe it was a really expensive part that he put in. So, I called for a copy of the invoice thinking I would get some answers. The invoice had no detail, it only said: Replace one cartridge $224.08 Trip Charge 40.00 Coupon -25.00 Tax 19.13 Total $258.21 I decided to go to Home Depot to check out the price of cartridges. They ranged from $10 to $30. I called Fisher Plumbing to inquire about the charge since it seemed so high for the time involved and the price of the part. Also why was I charged the $40 trip charge when I had them perform the service? The secretary told me that she would take this up with Brad. She never called back. So after about a week I called again and questioned the high charges for the service provided. She said she would talk to her supervisor about it. Again, no further contact with me. I know that Fisher Plumbing has been sold to another company, I thought that it was Roto-Rooter, however the credit card charge is to DYNA MOLE of Rochester? In any case, they have lost a long time customer. If you are a long time Fisher Plumbing Customer, I would advise you go elsewhere, or be prepared to be RIPPED OFF.
Description of Work: The single knob that controls both the temperature and the volume of water to my shower head had begin to slip, so when I turned it, the water temperature did not change.

Fischer sent a plumber within two days of me calling them. He arrived within an hour of the time range I was told, and he completed both jobs within two hours. He replaced the gasket and tank bolts on the toilet, then cleared a large hairball from the bathtub drain. Plumber was polite, professional, and speedy. I definite recommend them and would call them again for future plumbing issues.
Description of Work: We had two plumbing issues: the toilet in our guest bathroom was leaking and unusable, and the drain in our Jacuzzi bath/shower in our master bathroom blocked up and drained very, very slowly every time we showered (and did not respond to Draino). Neither needed immediate service.

Our basement toilet overflowed. Elliot came out promptly from Fischer Plumbing. He did a great job getting rid of the clog. Our toilet was close to 50 years old, so he replaced that at the same time. Everything works great. The price was worth it to us to have the problem solved quickly and a high quality toilet put in. We have used Fischer Plumbing for all our emergency needs over the past 30 years. Always prompt, courteous, professional. We have been very satisfied and will continue to use them for all our plumbing needs!

Brad, the tech, looked at our cracked pipe and under the sink. He noted that part of a pipe under the sink also needed replacing and made this sound more complicated than it was. He gave me an estimate for $443 and said he could do the work immediately if I wanted. Because I wanted it done, I said yes. In about 30 minutes he was done. He did not provide an itemized bill for the work which I feel he should have. Interestingly, when he was writing up the bill and giving me the Angies List discount ($25), he kept writing $200 something and realized his mistake, changing it to $400 something, plus tax, etc. Perhaps a Freudian slip? I really feel that I was taken advantage of and that I should have gotten another estimate. I've dealt with a number of plumbers and they were never this expensive for this simple project work. I've had whole vanities installed for $200. I just won't use them again and do not recommend this practice of not itemizing on a estimate. Poor way to do business.

Elliott quickly unplugged my sink and also answered my questions about adding a backup system for my sump pump. In the process, he identified the limitations of my current sump pump, which I appreciated since I live by a creek. He came the same day I called, while other plumbers told me they couldn't come for 5 to 6 days.

I woke up to a basement full of water and a serious mess on my hands. We have used Fischer Plumbing in the past and called them for help. They were excellent! The girl on the phone could tell how upset I was and assured me they could get right out to me. Within the hour they arrived and took care of everything. The serviceman, Elliot, assessed the situation, explained that the water heater could not be repaired and had to be replaced. He gave options and really took time to make sure we were getting what we wanted. He had a replacement unit on his truck and was able to replace it immediately. They even helped with the cleanup and took away the old unit. I expected this ordeal to be much worse than it turned out to be. I could not be happier with the service they provide! Kudos to the whole staff and keep up the good work! I wish I could give an A+ rating as they deserve it!

I was pleased with the extensive repairs and replacement parts installed. The plumber, Elliot, was very pleasant and easy to work with. He explained everything to me and gave me options on what I could do, the costs of each option without trying to influence me. He completed the work in about 5 hours without taking break. The new faucets and disposal are a nice improvement in my home and I am pleased with how everything looks and works. There were only two things I was not 100% pleased with: I was scheduled for a 9am appointment and called at 930am when I hadn't heard anything. I was told Elliot was running late and they would call when he was coming They called at1015am, and he got here at about 1030am. A phone call telling me this at 9am would have been nice. The other thing was there were slippery spots in front of both sinks (from over-spray of silicon spray or WD40 or something) that could have resulted in a fall. Over-all: very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Replace kitchen faucet and side spray; re-pipe kitchen drain-line to bring up to current code; install Insinkerator PRO880 garbage disposal with electric switch, replace bathroom faucet with pop-up, trap, and tailpiece; installed ball valve on main water shut-off and installed access panel.

Elliott was our technician. He took the time to listen to our concerns and offered a variety of solutions with an estimate of the cost. He arrived on time for the job and was careful about not tracking snow into the house. He worked efficiently and carefully, not to crack anything in his effort to remove the old pipes. Cleaning out the drains to the main line was nasty and messy but he cleaned up afterwards. He didn't mind my nosing around and was glad to answer my incessant questions. He even appreciated my glee over having drains that emptied with gusto. He likes cats and my cats like him. Personable and professional. Does the hard and dirty work, but also the fine work, leaving beautiful results. I could not be happier with his work.
Description of Work: Installed kitchen faucet, replaced leaky washing machine outlets, removed lots of ancient galvanized pipe from laundry & kitchen sink, installed PVC pipe. Installed stand pipe for laundry. Cleared all pipes to the main line. Visualized main line out to the street.

They were out within 2 hours on a busy Friday. Very satisfied with responsiveness and work. I was given options and recommendations to choose from. They replaced the parts to my Moen faucet that was 25 years olOwner even ran a part out to my house for the plumber. I have used Fischer Plumbing in other years for repairs. I have always been satisfied with the responsiveness and work. I have been willing to pay the fees as I usually call them on emergency basis, so I really can't complain. I will continue to use them.

When I returned home the sink was sitting on a pile of putty on the countertop. When I called them they explained that the clips to secure the sink to the counter did not work on the sold surface counter. I told them they should not have installed the sink. They would not let me speak and insisted on wasting my time explaining how I should install strips of wood under the counter so the clips would work. I was well aware of how to correct the problem, having installed sinks, toilets, counters and done a lot of home improvement myself. My expectation in hiring a professional is that they would do the work correctly (and sooner than I could) and in fact when I had left the house with the plumber already working on the sink he had said he would have no problem using shimms to secure the clips and sink. What really ticked me off was that they insisted on trying to bully me into fixing the problem and refused to listen to me at all. Just as they didn't give me any choice to not install the sink. They also padded their bill by doing electrical work that they were not asked to do. I deducted the cost of that work from their bill. I returned to Loews and called the sink manufacturer and I still don't know what the problem is but now I have to decide if I want to disassemble the faucet and sink myself or hire someone else to install another sink.
Description of Work: They installed dishwasher in kitchen. They were supposed to install a sink and faucet also but the faucet was installed into the sink, and the sink attached to the drain pipe but the sink was not attached to the countertop.

I contacted Fischer Plumbing to come out and investigate a leak that I suspected to be coming from a second floor shower. I told the plumber that the leak was coming from the shower trap. The plumber showed up on site, cut a hole in my drywall ceiling to access the trap, turned the shower on and did not notice any water leaking from the trap. He left and told the owner that the trap was fine and that the water was coming from a small gap on the bottom of the glass door. Unfortunately, I was not there when the original plumber was on site,my wife was. The owner called me and asked if he could stop by to look at the job. We met later that day to discuss the job. I mentioned to the owner that I did not think that his plumber had properly diagnosed the problem. I mentioned that if you run the shower with someone in the shower the floor flexes and the body deflects the water away from the door. I also reached up into the hole in my ceiling and discovered that the trap was wet. The owner backed his plumber and ignored all of my insight and also suggested that I replace the glass door. Two days later I received an invoice for somewhere in the neighborhood of $130. At this point I still have water running down the face of my cabinets and a hole in my ceiling. I went against these to so called professional plumbers and replaced the trap and not the shower door. Guess what? No more leak. I called the owner and argued about his outrageous invoice. I refused to pay and he decided to sue me for the charges. Unfortunately, I had to be out of town for the scheduled court date. I begrudgingly paid the charges in full.

I got very prompt service. I called around 1:00 p.m. and and Fischer had a plumber at my home by 3:00 p.m. The plumber was very efficient and professional. The job was done very well. My only complaint about Fischer is that I found them to be expensive. I thought that $122.00, including the Angie discount, was high for a small job that took approximately 15 minutes. When I said that I would use Fischer again, I most likely try another plumber on the list to compare prices.

I was very pleased how quickly Fischer Plumbing was able to respond to my call. The repairman worked in a very cramped space under the sink which I could never have accessed for a DIY repair. The first faucet repair part worked fine and I would never have known (or cared) that it was of a very slightly different design than the specified part for this model faucet. I was impressed that the "boss" wanted to use the "right" part. There were a couple of aspects of the drain line problem that were daunting for me (but no problem for the plumber). I would have been anxious about unscrewing the 50 year-old connection between the drain line and the septic line and I would have been unable to clean out the septic line. Both of these were accomplished smoothly; the greatly improved drainage from the sink is very noticeable. The repairman was very personable, worked efficiently, and cleaned up very well. The total time for both visits was less than four hours.
Description of Work: I called the day after Thanksgiving with a heavily leaking kitchen faucet (priority 8 out of 10) and a long-standing problem with a rotted copper pipe going into the septic system from the kitchen sink drain (priority 1 out of 10). The plumber arrived within 3 hours and diagnosed the faucet problem as a broken vacuum break, which he repaired, and assessed and described how he would repair the drain pipe problem on a return visit. On the following Tuesday, he returned to replace the copper pipe with PVC, to increase the pitch of the drainage, and to power-snake the severely restricted pipe from the house to the septic tank. Also, at the request of his boss, he replaced the vacuum break in the faucet with the exact replacement part for this 9 year-old Delta model. (He had the first vacuum break in his truck and it was for a newer model.)

It went well. We had a long-standing leak from a shower drain that had stained our ceiling. He came to give an estimate, shared information on what he considered was likely to be the problem, estimated the cost and then came back a few weeks later (his schedule) and repaired the problem. It cost every penny of his "maximum" estimate but he did a very neat, careful job, explaining what he was doing, and it has not leaked since that time.

The representative from Fischer arrived promptly, worked extremely quickly, and was very thorough in his response to the problem. When repairing the leaky faucet, he explained that it would take him a few minutes longer because, although it was temporarily fixed, he knew that unless he took an additional step, the problem would certainly return. He also explained that a good amount of sediment had been forced through our pipes by the bypass line that we had been hooked up to, and we're now able to request reimbursement from the City (in case anyone else has a similar problem). It only took him a half hour to complete the entire job and he was very pleasant to work with. We'll definitely use Fischer Plumbing again!
Description of Work: The City of Rochester temporarily removed our house from the water main to clean the main along our street. As soon as we were disconnected from the main and hooked up to a bypass line, one of our toilets and a faucet began running constantly. We contacted Fischer to repair the plumbing associated with both the toilet and the sink.

I do not stand by and watch the men work. If I hired them then I know they can do the work. They were personally neat and clothing was clean. They cleaned up after finishing the job. When the job was done I was asked to look it over and make any comments on their work. I am satisfied.
Description of Work: An old metal shower stall was to be replaced, it was located in a powder room in the basement. The old stall was disconnected and removed, this included the old plastic base. A new shower stall measuring 32" X 32", and a new plastic base was installed. This included a new drain connection. I had requested an anti-scald faucet in place of the one furnished with the new stall. Also a restriction was installed in the shower head to restrict flow to 2.5 GPM. Their office called to tell me what time I could expect the men to arrive. They arrived on time, completed the job in approx. 6 hours, they left the area clean. A nice job all around.
