They started on time, finished early and on budget. The city inspector had full confidence in their quality of their work. Mark seemed to really pay attention to what I was trying to achieve and had some fantastic ideas on how to achieve them with multiple options at different price levels. They really took care of the home and there weren’t any extraneous holes in the walls. I am planning on having him return to do additional work. Would highly recommend their work.

I’m very impressed with Ellenwood Electric. We needed to have network cables run from the downstairs living room to an upstairs home office. We also wanted some receptacles replaced. The owner, Mark, came over to do an estimate. He was very familiar with working in an older home (1925). He was actually recommended by a competitor that won’t work on old houses. Mark did a thorough inspection to determine the best route for the wires. He gave me an estimate right then. A couple weeks later Lewis and Andrew came over to do the work. Mark had described the situation to them so well, that I didn’t have to explain anything. They put up with our young dog, who stole various items from them, and our two indoor cats, making sure they remained that way. Their work was neat and professional. They also did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. It was a pleasure to have them in our home. I will definitely use them again for any electrical work I need in the future.

Ellenwood Electric was great! Mark and Luis were both very friendly and helpful. Everything was done in a timely manner and the work came out fantastic. Our 1970s home had loose plugs and now they're all replaced as well as upgraded to GFIs where needed and some rewiring done around the laundry area.

Excellent service. They did a lot of things including fixing some wacky (and dangerous) wiring the previous owners did. Other people may get excited by expensive counters and bathroom renovations but I'm pretty thrilled to have upstairs / downstairs light switches that work the way they are supposed to. I'd definitely use them again and recommend them.

The work was completed in a very detailed way. I received an estimate for materials and labor down to the penny which I could review before any work began. Everything on the contract was completed to the exact detail. The price never changed. The workers were professional and explained what they were doing and answered questions very well and in detail. I appreciated that there was no foul language used in my home during the work, even in a casual sense.

Mark Ellenwood came on time to give the estimate, reviewing my needs carefully and explaining everything. On the day the work was to start, his two-man crew arrived on time, were courteous and professional, and did the work efficiently. They explained things to me clearly. They cleaned up after themselves as they went. We are very happy we went with Ellenwood Electric.

Mark came over to assess what needed to be done. We are de-converting a double house back to a single and needed to eliminate one of the electric meters. i explained what we were doing and that we also are having our kitchen remodeled (total gut) in a few months. Mark suggested that the best thing to do was to combine the inside electric boxes into a single 200amp box that would provide additional breakers for the new kitchen and additional growth. We also decided to have him install the new sub box for the new a/c unit that was being installed in a few weeks. We also needed an external outlet installed for the back deck. Mark took care of getting the permits. We did run into a little glitch with the City of Rochester. Apparently I needed to get a building permit since we were converting the house, before he could get the electric permit. So $110 later ($50 for building permit and $60 for ridiculous Certificate of Occupany permit -a total money grab by the City of Rochester!). Once he got the permits Luis and his assistant did some prepartory work on Thursday and then did the major work on Friday. I was completely amazed at how much they were able to accomplish. The job was well done. They were very professional and courteous and provided me answers to questions I had. I was very pleased and would most definitely hire them again. I'm attaching pictures showing the new 200 amp box at noon when all the wires had been disconnected from the 2 old boxes. 6 hours later at around 6:00pm the job was done. Just amazing!

Mark came over to give us an estimate for all the work, walking the house with us meticulously, pointing out things we might never have thought of - not only that we would need ground-fault interrupter circuits near the sink but that we would probably want more outlets on our kitchen counter than were already there. He counted up the outlets that would have to be replace with grounded outlets, pointed out where the new circuit breaker box would go and where the meter would be located outside. Because of the size of the job, which would take five days, we had to schedule the project for about three weeks in the future. After we had agreed to the date, price, and scope of work we had an emergency outage of one of the plugs we relied on every day, one that would be replaced within the project. We called Mark and he sent his guys over immediately to have a look. It turned out to be a short inside the electrical outlet, so they repaired it on the spot, very reasonably. When they came back to do the complete job, Luis and his helper, Cody, were completely prepared, knew the details of what needed to be done and where, had all the necessary parts, and got down to work immediately. They worked together very well, with Luis an excellent instructor to the somewhat less experienced Cody. As they completed work each day, Luis went over with us everything they had done that day, assuring us that if anything seemed wrong after they left that we should call him at any time. Nothing went wrong, the job site was clean and neat when they left each day, and the schedule for the next day was laid out for us. They installed two ceiling fans, replaced outlets with ground-fault interrupter receptacles or simple grounded outlets all over the house, and upgraded the service to the house with a new circuit-breaker box in the basement and a new meter outside, as is now required by code. The job was smooth and error-free, and we were definitely sorry to see Luis and Cody go when they were finished. It was a major project that provided us with the security of wiring that we do not have to question when we use an electrical appliance. And we plan to hire Ellenwood Electric again in future as we need more electrical work.
Description of Work: As the new owners of an old house, vintage 1957, we knew from the home inspection that we needed a fairly complete reworking of the electrical system in the house. Our home inspector recommended Mark Ellenwood as someone who could definitely deal with an older home, and as someone he would trust to do the work if it were his own home, including increasing the capacity and moving the service to the outside of the house as is now required. We called Mark very soon after we moved in, and shortly after we realized that there were *very* few 3-prong outlets in our house, as required by most computers, printers, televisions and other contemporary electrical devices!

Ellenwood Electric replaced the electric connection and moved the meter outside. They worked with RG&E to find the best approach to meter placement in a tight space. Mark responded the same day I called and came out within a few days. He worked with RG&E and provided an estimate quickly. The work was scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Luis and Corey did the work and were knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I would highly recommend them and will certainly use them again in the future.

Mark called me back quickly and was very helpful and courteous. However, because of the short notice (needed someone at our house within 24-48 hours), Mark could not fit us in within our timeframe. However, Mark was very helpful in pointing us to another provider (City Lights) that he would recommend. We ended up using City Lights, who did a good job.

Installation performed with no apparent issues - very happy with the results. The installers noticed an unrelated roof leak while working in the attic and made a point of informing me and ensuring I understood that it needed attention from another contractor. Ellenwood did require that the roof vent cap portion of the installation be done by a separate roofing contractor, and provided a recommendation. This involved some extra work to coordinate the two but in the end it worked out fine. This portion of the work was an additional $250 above and beyond the fan installation (it's an older roof with 3 layers of shingles including cedar shingles, so this made the work more difficult).
