 + -1 moreWe have used Ellenwood electric for two different jobs about a year apart and we were very happy with both encounters. The first time, they rewired our bathroom lights to put in a newer outlet on the wall, and this time they put two big appliances on their own circuits because it kept tripping. Each time, they were punctual and professional. They completed the job the day of the quote and in a timely fashion. They cleaned up after themselves very well. They were friendly and patient with our dog even though she kept barking at them. Their prices were very reasonable and they were able to do exactly what we asked them to do for the job. They were knowledgeable about their field. We haven't had the opportunity to recommend them to any of our friends, but we would do so without hesitation.

 + -1 moreAbout a quarter of our home lost power and we could not figure out what was wrong. None of the breakers were off. Ellenwood came and found that the outlet was burned and a defective stab-lok connection at the receptacle device. Our home was built in 1965 and this was an original outlet. This outlet was the start of that particular line which is why a quarter of the house had no power. He replaced the outlet and now we have power!
Description of Work: The electrician was able to fix the problem we were having with our electric in our home. He arrived on time and even gave us a 1/2 call before they arrived so we knew when to expect him.

 + 1 moreMy initial phone call to their office was returned before noon the same day the call was placed. They were concerned about a possible fire hazard when I explained my situation, so they came to check the issue the next day. They arrived when they said they would, were very professional and got right to the problems that were existing. They promptly fixed the issues, and told me to give them a call when I was ready to replace my ceiling fan/light in my dining area. I wanted to get the lighting situation straightened out asap so I found the perfect fixture, called their office, and they came back within a week and I couldn't be happier!!! I will be using their services for my future electrical upgrades/repairs, and I would refer anyone who asks to them for excellent service.
Description of Work: Tracked down problems with outlets then repaired/replaced two outlets. Replaced old light switches and installed ceiling fan and wall panel to operate light and fan.

 + -1 moreEllenwood was recommended to us through Home Depot. We were highly satisfied with their level of professionalism. They showed up exactly when they said they would (almost unheard of these days with contractors), and did what they said they would do (and actually a little more). Having them in our home was not overly disrupted. They offered a generator if I needed it, and even made a point to warm up to our Golden Retriever. We experienced a little sticker shock, but DID need quite a bit of work done, and also did not get another estimate, as we were so satisfied with the level of comfort we felt with this company. Although, we have had no problems, we have gotten the impression that they back up their work, and would be here immediately if we ran into issues with their work. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Installed a new fuse box, a new exterior meter enclosure, new circuits, new grounding, etc....a lot!

 + 0 moreAs stated above, the process was straight forward. I called Mark Ellenwood and told him that our kitchen light was not working. The light switch has a dimmer switch and there was no light from the unit. I made an appointment for him to come over and look at the problem and make an assessment. Upon analysis of the problem, Mark came up with the means to restore the lighting function of the fixture. He was very efficient in the process of getting the fixture back on line.
Description of Work: There was a problem with the dimmer switch that controls the light over the kitchen table. Mark Elllenwood arrived at the house at the appointed time and evaluated the problem and got the fixture working.

 + -1 moreThe owner and his assistant arived and pulled the meter in order to shut off the power to the panel. They wore the proper safety gear and set about to replace the main breaker. While the panel was open they checked every circuit breaker and tightened all connections.
Description of Work: The main breaker in my panel needed to be replaced and I decided to hire an electrician to to perform this work. The owner and his assistant were very prompt and very professional in all they did that day. Further, they used all the personal protective safety equipment while they worked. I wouild recommend this business to anyone needing electirical work.

 + -1 moreIn addition to the above description, I'd like to state that from the first call (that is promptly returned within 24 hours - in our case a few hours) there was no charge for the estimate. Work was done within days, or a week from the call mostly to coordinate both parties work schedules, tarps are laid to contain debris, work is completed to customer satisfaction, communication is clear and courteous, clean-up is thorough and a detailed invoice is mailed (30 days to pay without additional charges).
Description of Work: Ellenwood Electric is the most professional service company/contractor my husband and I have ever hired. Prompt, courteous, and thorough from start to finish. The electric work on the above date was the 4th time we have needed them for repair and new electric work for an old home in the city over the last 3 months. It is not an easy fix for a home with 100 years of old electric wiring, outlets and fixtures. On this last visit the job invoice (for repair of outdoor porch light and ceiling electric box among many other things) detailed everything done, breakdown of the price of every material used and the crews hours and their hourly rate. Here is just a portion of the description on work performed on the invoice. - ".....remove flex conduit from entrance foyer junction box, remove ceiling surfaces as needed to remove existing flex conduit feed to hallway 3-gang switchbox - located buried j-box at ceiling. Install new romex wiring as needed to......install romex wiring to replace burned and shortened switchlegs....." We had Ellenwood Electric also put in new recess lights in kitchen, and repair other old wiring and outlets. They are fast and efficient. We will be hiring them to do all the new electric work on a kitchen remodel. Not only will they fix the mess of a previously hired electrician who's work failed code, they will design the electric work to work with the new kitchen remodel. I wish they did plumbing too!!

Ellenwood periodically called us to check on our progress and to schedule the final installations. We will definitely be using them again for a project in the kitchen.
Description of Work: Completely rewired a large room renovation. Additionally, added an outlet with timer for the outside of the house. They made suggestions for materials that were excellent and reduced the overall cost of the project.

Description of Work: The heater in my bathroom exhaust fan was not working. They came for an estimate the week before then called with the estimate and set up a date for installing the new heating unit. I thought that the whole exhaust fan unit would have to be replaced for $400.00 plus an installation fee. They were very punctual for both appointments. They also cleaned out a couple of placed in the unit that I could not reach with my vaccuum cleaner. They cleaned up the area when they were finished installing the heating unit. They were very polite and me some tips to help keep the unit cleaner. I would hire this company again.
