I just called this place looking for an estimate to replace some tiles in my tiled ceiling. He told me there was a $250 minimum. I said okay -- does that mean you're saying the work would actually be less than that, but would be upcharged to $250 to make up the difference or it would cost more than $250 for the work in the first place. All he would answer that $250 was a minimum. I said I understand I would be charged $250 no matter what, but again, I'm asking if it's $250 worth of work on its own, or if it is really only $100 worth of work but we would be charged $250. All he would answer was $250. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to in order to answer my question, and he said no, I have a $250 minimum. I would NOT work with this guy based on his attitude. If you can't even give me a straight answer about your estimate of the amount of work something would require, I'm certainly not going to hire you. I would stay away. **Update in response to his comment below - I did not have trouble understanding there is a minimum. I was simply questioning whether in the vendor's supposedly experienced opinion, if the repair I needed sounded like it was a $250 repair. The problem is that there was only one answer and not a conversation. It was only a 2 minute conversation, because all I could get the person to say was, "$250 minimum." Can't go very far with that. Succinct, yes -- he wouldn't say anything else, but there was nothing "polite" about it. It was rude, plain and simple. I tried asking the question a million different ways, and received the same response over and over. I hired someone else for the very small job and paid $40. That person will now get my business for larger jobs as he doesn't have an arbitrary minimum and doesn't speak to potential customers so condescendingly.

Response from DeGeorge Ceilings
I am very sorry [member name removed] had a hard time understanding our brief phone conversation. I explained to her that there is a minimum charge for a repair and service call. Unfortunately she kept insisting that the work maybe less money and I was adding a charge to the work. I tried numerous times to explain that it would never be any less that the $250 minimum as there are costs for labor, material, insurance mobility, clerical amongst other costs involved.DeGeorge Ceilings has been in business since 1969 and we pride ourself on superior work at a fair price. It is unfortunate that [member name removed] was unhappy with a brief less that 2 minute phone conversation. I explained the situation as succinctly and politely as possible. I am sorry that you where not satisfied with the answers and would be more than happy to try to explain the minimum charge to you again should you wish. A minimum charge is just that and there is not a cheaper price regardless due to the other expenditures that I have mentioned above. Again DeGeorge Ceilings wants not just our customers to be happy but even people we have a 2 minute phone conversation with.. Should anyone have any questions please feel free to contact me directly Dan DeGeorge 585-266-0250
