I got 3 quotes to have the decking and railings replaced with composite, on my old large two level original deck and have the two sets of steps completely replaced. Phil's quote was the lowest and included substantial repair of the original deck before installing the composite. The other two quotes said the original deck was good enough (which it wasn't). Craftsman's team did an excellent job and I ended up with a much better deck than what the other two contractors would have provided. My only complaint with Craftsman is the excessive amount of time that elapsed from when I signed the contract (May, expecting the deck be completed in July) to when the job actually was started (Dec., and finished early Jan.) and with the lack of accurate reasons for the delays. I strongly suggest you include in the contract the agreed to completion date required for the job to be done. Bottom Line: I would definitely use Phil again due to his very competitive pricing, knowledge, and excellent craftmanship. I would also insure that the required completion date is specified in the contract, with options if not met.

I highly recommend the decking team from Craftsman Home Remodeling. The company founder - Phil Sr. - was there from start to finish. He wrote up the quote and he was there every day to oversee the project and make sure both my wife and I were happy as the project progressed. As context, we had a large multi-level deck that had become dangerous to walk on because of weak and rotting wood planks due our upstate weather and direct exposure to the sun. We wanted a complete replacement of the existing PT wood surface with new composite decking material, three sets of stairs rebuilt, as well as solider boarding along the entire base rather than the cheap lattice work the prior owner used. Additional, the team designed and constructed a 12'x20' roof, that's connected to our house over a portion of the deck, so we can now be outside and enjoy the view of our pool and beautiful backyard no matter the weather. It's worth noting that as they progressed, structural issues were uncovered and Phil was extremely communicative and let us know each issue immediately, outlined possible options, and executed the solution at a reasonable cost. The decking team was extremely hardworking and knowledgeable. Bottom line, we are thrilled with the final outcome on this project - we received superior quality at a great price. We WILL hire them again and have recommended them to our friends and neighbors! Their family business will restore your faith and confidence in locally-owned and operated contractors!

A fantastic and professional crew! Phil Sr and his crew responded right away and fit us into their schedule to remodel our existing deck and install a new composite deck. Their work was incredibly well done, and they even followed up when we called to improve grading around the posts after the heavy rain caused our sandy ground to sink. They checked for anything else that needed to be taken care of, and had it all done within a couple hours. Phil and his men did a superb job replacing the pressure treated flooring and railings with composite materials and it looks fantastic. It also required shoring up the structure and rebuilding the stairs. All the men worked very hard and completed the job on time. These men have done a very good job so far. They will be back to do some interior work when I am ready for them. I would say that I am spending a great deal of money to have all the work done, but they do a beautiful job and I am very pleased with their work

Phil Sr. has many years experience in home remodeling and both gentlemen are skilled craftsmen. Phil, Jr. is organized and experienced in latest techniques to support his skill and craftsmanship. Our project was quoted and explained in detail with competitive pricing. We are very satisfied with roof repair and attic ventilation improvements creating necessary air flow required to preserve roof sheeting, roofing shingles and provide attic environment safe from mold recurrence. Their work crew is organized, contributing to an efficient use of manpower and materials. Respect for our property was shown in placement of work equipment, supplies and materials. Debris was cleaned up from the ground upon completing the job. We would call on them again if needed for future home repair projects.

Experience was difficult time . Lack of communication and many excusses.

We initially called Craftsman to get a quote for air duct cleaning. Phil called us back and was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. When we met and learned what other services Craftsman offered, we also asked for a quote to clean our carpets and some upholstery. Not only was Phil willing to accommodate us, he helped us navigate through some logistical issues because my husband is disabled. Phil cleaned our air ducts, rugs/carpets, and some upholstery all in the same day! The before-and-after videos/pictures of the air ducts were amazing, the house smells fresh, and the carpets look new again. Thanks, Phil. You will definitely hear from us!
