Description of Work: My wife and I needed to have a French door replaced due to deterioration, and after looking at all of the companies, we opted to choose Comfort Window and Door. The crew arrived on Monday, 26 April, at 9:00AM (as they said they would), and started work right away. Things were fine, until they found that they had to widen the doorway and definitely replace the header, and rebuild the subfloor (as we figured that would have to happen). While removing the old header, they found a wire that came up from the basement and through the area of the header. Instead of being cautious, the crew just cut through the wire, which cut the power to the kitchen (and the refrigerator.) When my wife brought this to the attention of the crew, they seemed to be indifferent to this. The crew called out their "electrician" to repair the cut, who did show up later to fix this. However, I have serious reservations about their "electrician", because, on the same day, we had an electrician from Lon Lockwood Electric out to do work (later in the afternoon), and he found that the Comfort electrician spliced the line back together in a junction box in the wall (against code, and a fire hazard). When the LLE electrician confronted the crew about this, they seemed to not care, but eventually they had the Comfort electrician come back out to fix the problem by installing an exterior outlet in place of the junction box. Also, while the crew was working on the door on day #1, one of the crew members started smoking in the door way of the house - we don't smoke, and we have a 3 month-old, and 2-year-old in the house. The crew member smoking seemed to be surprised that we would ask him to stop smoking. After the installation was completed, three days later, we found that the crews failed to clean-up - we found a pile of nails scattered around the area in which they had been working. These weren't hidden, but rather, out in the open and easy to see. We had to have Comfort come back out to the house to replace the screen door, due to poor workmanship. The installation was sloppy, and the door needed to be re-trimmed in order to square it properly. Also, the original screen door that left the factory was put together in a sloppy fashion - so much so that when the door was opened, the plates at the top and bottom pinched the hinges, and caused gouges to the hinge and door edges. When speaking with the management at Comfort, it felt like we were a problem for them, rather than a paying customer who just wanted to get what we paid for - excellent service and an excellent product. For what we paid to Comfort, we should have done this ourselves, or gone to an independent contractor. If you value quality - don't use Comfort Windows for anything.
