Berkeley Heating & Cooling

I received several quotes for HVAC Contractors and I am happy I went with Berkeley Heating and Cooling. They gave me a very fair price and excellent warranty. Todd was great to work with and he even corrected mistakes of the original contractor. He responded to all my emails in a timely fashion. They did an excellent job in installing the unit and I would use them again.

I highly recommend Berkeley heating and cooling. I contacted Todd based on his listing on this site. He responded immediately and then contacted me the next day to set up an appt. He did a perfect job and I appreciated the excellent communication before and during the project. Don't bother looking further, Todd's your man!

Salesman is very direct and professional. Provided excellent installation details and pricing. Removed and installed a new boiler and indirect water heater in 1 days time. I am very happy with the performance and economy of my new boiler and water heater.

Todd initially came over to work on the furnace. The second stage would not kick in and the house never really warmed up. He determined that the furnace itself was fine but that when it had been installed, the provider had not evaluated the duct work, which was insufficient for the size furnace. (The house had never really been warm in the winter but it had gotten worse recently.) This is an old house and the switch from oil to gas forced air had been done before we owned it. To be honest, the ducts kind of looked like they were designed by someone on crack. Anyway, he tore out most of the ductwork in the basement and replaced it all, added two new heat runs to the living room, and replaced one run in the walls that was flexible tubing. There is actually more headroom in our basement now that the work is done the right way. Comfortwise, it was like night and day after he was done...so much warmer. A couple of days after the work was done the furnace started making a terrible noise, of course on a Friday evening. I called him, and he came right away. Turns out that the convection blower motor had self-destructed after a few years of working too hard to push too hot air into too small ducts. He lent us a space heater for the night and replaced the motor in the morning. Todd and his crew were great. They did the work quickly and efficiently. I can't imagine what this winter would have felt like if we were still limping along with the old ductwork. They were there when they promised, didn't leave a mess behind, and were always pleasant to deal with.

They were very good. It was a snowy day, but despite that, they showed up on time and provided a full report. The inspection and cleaning.

They explained how they do the testing and what the results mean. No pressure to buy anything. Peace of mind knowing the units were working safely and efficiently.

Great job, would recommend to anyone trying to avoid the high cost of larger commercial companies.

Was willing to accept offer after expiration date; was hospitalized. Took a while to get specific date/time. Came at agreed upon time.

This contractor gets excellent reviews, however in this line of work responsiveness is very important- I wouldn't want to have no heat and not be able to have them respond ASAP. I don't waste contractors time and do not appreciate having my time wasted.

They were scheduled to do the work in one day and did so even with a late start. They called to say they would be late and came to the house within 40 minutes of the call in spite a family crisis. The main work was completed in one long day even though they did not have all three people there all day. They were polite and neat even though they were working in a crawl space all day. They came back a week later for 15 minutes to finish the electrical connection fix even though that was not part of the original estimate. The air quality in the house is so much better, I cannot thank Berkley and Todd enough. I will use their services again and would be happy to recommend them to others.

Todd Kiley and his workmen were neat, punctual, and polite. They got the job done quickly. The air quality and comfort has greatly improved since the work was done.

Todd was very easy to work with, and his pricing was very good too. He explained all work to be done, and also explained the extra work that was done at no additional cost. Workers were very knowledgeable and cleaned up after themselves. I would not hesitate to use them in the future.

When the guys got to the house they fired up the boiler and it didn't start right away so I shut it off at the thermostat and turned it back on and it fired right up. I adhere to the saying "if it aint broke don't mess with it." The buyer wanted it cleaned so they did and when we thought it was just about over the boiler would not start. Somewhere along the way something must have shorted out the control panel and so a new one was needed. The guys worked for a few hours trying to fix it. they replaced the control panel and noticed the wires were badly melted, they fix the melted wire and even checked for gas leaks. I asked them at one point along the way how much it was going to cost me and Todd said not much seeing it worked when we got here. That's when I knew these guys were honest and I was't about to stick them with the cost of the parts. I paid them $200 and would hire them again.

I had originaly called Todd to replace our furnace in a home we bought last fall.The price was good and he was polite,intelligent and very fair.I worked to save the $3000.00 and a week before we were suppose to have our furnace installed we started having roof problems that couldnt wait so the furnace had to wait till next year and Todd was more than understanding.3 weeks later after a heat wave the central air stopped working and I callled Todd again.Within 48hr he was out and fixed the problem to give us a little more time with our 30 yr old central air.I would recommend Todd to everyone.A wonderful,perfessional and honest person..

Our 20 year old central A/C stopped working last year. We couldn't afford to get it fixed or replaced right away because we also had a number of other appliances to be replaced. We decided that our furnace, hot water heater, oven and car had to come first... This summer, during the unbearable heat wave, we decided to check it out. Berkley responded immediately. They had an opening in their schedule so they squeezed us in the same morning we called! (...this was pretty lucky!!) Todd came with an assistant, and found that the unit still had freon, but needed serious cleaning, and was not connected properly (the furnace guy had disconnected it when he replaced our furnace and never reconnected it!).. Among a few other small items, we also needed a new thermostat. He fixed our now 21 year old central A/C for $200!! Todd is our hero! Now, we don't know how long it will last, but we are so delighted to have some time to save up for a new one, hopefully not before next year. And meanwhile, we are cool! Guess who we'll call when we need a new one???

It went very well, despite bad weather. They brought drop cloths to put down on the floor to avoid tracking mud thru our house. They worked quickly and efficiently. The system works wonderfully and I couldn't be happier

Everything went well. He was on time and did the annual service. I haven't posted earlier because I just turned the A/C on for the first time a couple of days ago -- it's been a cool spring!

Tuesday morning, I noticed the air conditioner wa not spinning. I found Berkeley on Angie's List and called. Todd was accommodating and easy to discuss the problem with. We made a plan for him to call to verify someone at the house. He called when he said and by 2:00 pm, Todd came to my house, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. The service was performed professionally and efficiently. I was extremely pleased and would not hesitate to recommend Berkeley to any of my friends.

Todd was very professional and friendly. He explained every step of the work . We had conflict of schedules and weather, he was very flexible to accommodate my needs . Originally he came in for furnace service but on the side I requested to change the burner unit of the water heater. He did it and charge a very reasonable fee. I am pleased that had him for the service

I purchased an A/C and furnace tuneup through Angie's List. We setup a day and time for them to do the work. Unfortunately, I forgot about the appointment and wasn't home. The mix-up was entirely my fault. The good news was that Berkeley was very understanding. We rescheduled a new day/time and they arrived on time (and I didn't forget the appointment). They were very polite and helpful. They reviewed my furnace with me, offered suggestions on ordering filters, and gave me pointers on cleaning the AC. All in all, they were professional and extremely helpful. The service was outstanding. My AC has never looked this good (it now looks brand new). I rarely keep business cards; however, I kept Berkeley's. I will be using them for all of my HVAC needs.
