[member name removed], Thank you for your response, I will address you concerns in the order stated as follows: Tape: Bathtub Made New uses the yellow delicate Frog Tape and/or Sherwin Williams easy release tape because we are typically working in bathrooms which are high moisture. Due to the area typically having high moisture and/or being recently painted sometimes there is a chance of paint lifting. Thus is why we spend the extra money for a higher grade tape to try and avoid this problem. If I was informed of this issue prior to this posting I would have a addressed it in a timely manor. Poor Caulking: As the client stated there was a 1/2 inch gap between the tub and tile. Once the job was complete, the refinisher showed the client’s wife his completed work before he left, she seemed happy and no issues were brought up at this point. If possible, I’ll attach a photo of the caulk job my employee did, I believe he did a phenomenal job. Even though the caulk job did not meet the clients expectations, I made it a point to arrive and address the issue personally and as soon as possible. Application of Coating: The bathroom where the work was completed consists of 2 rooms, which were both under construction during the refinishing process. When the tub was refinished my refinisher masked all of the tile, used drops on the floor, and took every precaution to make sure overspray did not get on the remainder of the clients bathroom. Even with these precautions and the vent system in place there was still the chance / risk dust or debris could have gotten in the coating. We informed the client if this happened we would properly address it by coming back and buffing the unit at no additional cost. Bathtub Made New prices our refinishing as cost effectively as possible and since every tub does not require buffing, we price it as such, which I informed the client. The day after the job was completed the client informed me of the areas where the dust resided and I informed him I would be happy to come back and buff his tub free of charge for the inconvenience. Course-ness of textured floor: We add a granule to a base coat we roll on the floor and once our coating has been applied over it the texture feels similar to a 220 grit sand paper (abrasive enough for some slip resistance, but not enough to scratch your bottom). In our 5+ years of business we have not had any complains regarding the coarseness of our textured bases. The client never informed Bathtub Made New the textured floor was too course, had this issue been discussed I could have remedied the situation, and still can if given the opportunity. Tub Buffing: Bathtub Made New is now using Carnauba wax to buff our tubs as we have noticed it gives us a better shine then the previous Maguire’s Diamond Compound. The Diamond Compound is more beneficial for cars with wear and micro-abrasions or small scratches where the Carnauba wax gives us more of a high gloss shine. This is a recent change, so I apologize that it has not been updated on our website. The Carnauba wax product is more effective and costs more however I do not pass the additional cost along to my clients. I’m happy to explain this to my customers, if it is addressed or it is a concern of theirs. Caulk Removal: In order to remove the caulk, I had to use a 3-way razor blade tool, even though I tried to be as cautious and exact as possible, there where two areas where the blade nicked the tub between 1/8 & 1/4 of an inch, which would have been visible after re-caulking. Initially the client informed me the contractor completing the bathroom remodel would use a rope caulking strip to fill the gap between the tiles and his tub, which would have covered the nicked areas, I informed the client that those caulking tools develop mold, are large, and not appealing to the eye. After looking into it and deciding that the caulking strip was not the way the client wanted to go he addressed the missing coating with me and I scheduled him on the very next day to address and correct the issue by reglazing the lip/caulk area of the tub. Final Interaction: I called the client on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 to inform the client I finished my morning job and was heading over to address the tub. The client’s wife [Member’s Wife Name Removed] answered my call and informed me they did not need me to come back out and address the issue. Refinishing Cost ($599.40): $490 - Tub Refinishing - Textured Floor - Caulking $65 - Client has Bathtub Made New order a custom color (Note: we have 8 whites/tans, which match 95% of sinks & toilets) $44.40 - 8% Sales Tax Bathtub Made New’s Response Time: Friday - March 20, 2015 - Refinisher completed the tub and caulked Saturday - March 21, 2015 - Client came to the RHBA Home Show with the free passes I provided him, and he informed me of the dust/debris in the tub. I told him I would personally address the issue at my earliest convenience, as I was working my booth at the show during this conversation. The client proceeded to restate the issue several times (15-minute interaction) as I kept replying how I will address it upon my first available moment since I could not leave my booth at the show. Monday - March 23, 2015 - I called the client and arrived at his house to complete the necessary improvements to buff the tub. After cutting out the caulk with a razor-blade I proceeded the remove as much caulk residue with my bare fingers until I wore my top layer of skin off so I would not have to use harsh chemicals and jeopardize the newly applied coating. This caulk issue as stated above arrives and I told the client I would have to come back the following day to reshoot the area damaged by the razor-blade since I did not have the customer color coating the client had me special order for him. Note: Several times the home owner [member name removed] informed me the tub would not be satisfactory for his wife. After I buffed and removed the caulk, [member name removed] brought [member name removed] in to inspect the tub, she commented on how the tub was much smoother and said as long as Bathtub Made New touches up the area where the razor-blade removed they would be happy. Tuesday - March 24, 2015 - I called the client after my morning jobs were complete to inform them I would be in route. Upon speaking with [Member's Wife Name Removed] she informed me they did not need me to come back out to address the issue. Conclusion: Bathtub Made New always goes the extra mile for our customers, this is why we are known as Rochester’s most referred bathtub refinishing company. If an issue, complaint or problem ever arrises, as long as we are informed about it, we will always address and correct it in the timeliest of manors. This client’s tub was completed on Friday, March 20, 2015. I arrived to address his issue the next business day on Monday, March 23, 2015. Once the accidentally removed area of acrylic urethane was identified I scheduled him for the next day, which the client decided to cancel. I, Michael Marciano, the owner, am personally sorry my team was unable to meet your expectations, because our goal with all of our clients is to give the best experience possible. I made every effort to resolve the issues you informed us about, and I will still be more than happy to come back out and address any and all issues you may have, regarding our service and product.
