 + -1 moreWe called twice, left messages with receptionist and on machine. Also left a message via Angie's List. Needed work done on fence gates that had been installed by B F and R. Obviously expected to pay for it and thought they'd be the best to do it since they were the original installer. Never got a response. I guess if your job isn't big enough you don't get the courtesy of a return call. Very unprofessional. Will never call again.

Description of Work: I have mixed feelings as to how this went. Let me explain. | |We bought a house with a fence in poor condition. I asked this company to repair a portion of the fence. The main requirements were to replace the fence posts along one side of the fence and to repair a sagging door. The original installation consisted of non-pressure-treated fence posts and improper installation with respect to cement and how far down the posts went, etc. The fence posts were rotting out and pointing inward in some places and outward in others. It was very uneven, and the panels looked like they were going to fall off. Furthermore, the door was very heavy and falling off the hinges. I had to lift it in order for it to close. | |With respect to the fence posts, they did a good job. They are all level and in a straight line such that the fence looks straight and sturdy. The materials they replaced are of the proper quality for the job and the posts are still very solid 1.5 years later. One complaint I had, however, is that they leveled the panels such that they did not simply rest on the contour of the land. They ended up cutting the bottoms of the fence panels so that they could get the tops level. This shortened my fence in some areas quite considerably. I do remember the person who gave me the estimate saying that they would do this and it didn't hit me until afterward what he meant. Therefore, it's my fault for not clarifying what he intended to do rather than their fault for doing it. | |The part that I'm having trouble with now is the door. They did a good job of rehanging the door, but it has since fallen almost completely off the hinges again. They did not suggest a redesign of the door (i.e. make the opening smaller for a smaller/lighter door or make it into a two-door entrance or anything like that) nor did they install anything that would help with the door being too heavy. Some investigation I have done recently has shown me a few techniques that could be used to help the situation. (I.e. install a turnbuckle or a brace like the Gate Brace or the EZ Brace or something equivalent). I feel as though a fence company should have not only tried to fix the symptom (i.e. dragging door) but solve the root cause of why the door was dragging (i.e. improper design of the door and its support). | |I'm reasonably happy with how the fence turned out, but am unhappy with the door situation. With the cost being what it was, I am more likely to try my hand at doing the rest of the fence myself rather than paying this company (or anyone else) to repair any other portions of the fence.

 + -1 moreMy initial experience with Jeremy (the owner) was very good. He was fair, honest, prompt, and easy to talk to. He came out in about 18 inches of snow and we walked the paramete of our backyard to see where the fence would go. Our goal was to put the chain link all around the backyard, except where our driveway is (next to the house). In that location, we wanted to go with a wooden fence. They installed the chain link very well, sturdy and very much to our liking. Where the problem came in was with the wooden part of the fence which was only about 50' of the overall job. When I came home from work, there were two giant holes in our expensive brick patio where they were putting 4x4 posts to set the wooden fence. I wish he would have let me know or asked beforehand that that would have to happen. When I called to inquire, he said that was necessary because of the location of a tree stump. We agreed I would get the stump ground down and redo the posts. When I got the stump taken out (about a week later), I called Jeremy and he said it would now be 8-10 weeks to finish the project. That seemed unacceptable to me considering he didn't let us know about the stump being an issue, or the fact that they were going to destroy our $6k brick patio. I thought about it for a day and decided I would have to hire someone else to get the wood part done faster. He left a message saying that was my prerogative, but it is my issue and not his. Also said that he is going to pull his permit and I'll have to get a new one becuase. As I said, my initial experience and dealings were very pleasant. Chain link looks good. At first sign of disagreement he was not very professional and was furious telling me to move his gear to the side so no one damages it.
Description of Work: BF & R installed a black vinyl chain link fence around our backyard. Overall size of fence was 235' with two gates.

Description of Work: They installed about 500ft of beautiful Western Cedar and 65ft of aluminum (wanted to keep the view of our pond). They were very prompt and friendly. The fence looks great!!!

 + -1 moreJeremy and crew installed about 300ft of 6ft PT privacy fence about 3 years ago. I was very happy with the timely install and workmanship of the fence. I did have some issue of some posts leaning after install over the next couple of winter/spring due to high winds and lots of rain. Jeremy always came back and addressed the issues. This last summer his crew came back and dug around about 8 posts and reset the footings using about 50 bags of concrete. Jeremy is very professional and never had a problem getting a hold of him with questions. I would use BF and R Fencing again.

 + -1 moreThey came when they were scheduled but I had to go to an appointment, so I left them to it. When I came home, they had left, and I was frantic. They had accidentally installed the gate in the center of the fence instead of at the corner where I wanted it. I had landscaping plans and where they put the gate would ruin those plans. I quickly called and told them to come back and move it. The crew came immediately--within minutes!--and moved the gate to the corner. I was so thrilled, and they were very apologetic. The gate and fence have had no problems thus far, and I am pleased with the quality of the materials used. The fact that they came back so fast to fix the situation makes me think this company is a class act. Also, they offer a 5-year warranty, which is longer than anyone else I talked to.
Description of Work: They installed a 4-foot-tall chain-link fence and gate across my back property line, approx 130 ft.
