Hi [Members Name], I pulled your paperwork and think perhaps you may have us confused with another contractor. Joe, our service technician, arrived to your home on July 1st 2011 at 10:06 am and provided a free estimate. You declined to go ahead with the work he quoted, which is understandable. You have a right to choose whom you do business with and I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations. We did not collect $300.00 as stated in your review which makes me wonder if another contractor came after us and charged the amount you stated. I am sorry you were dissatisfied with the up-front pricing we provided and wish we could have addressed this issue with you sooner. Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience. If you would like to speak with me and provide more details so we can determine where the confusion is, you can reach me directly at 585-723-9000x306. I would like the opportunity to make this right.

The tech was very friendly and took time to explain everything. However, the estimate was high compared to others and the $52 "trip fee" was not disclosed until the estimate was drawn. At least I don't remember it when I made the appointment. In fairness, he did say that it would be deducted if we went with them. We won't.

I can't recall the total bill, but at the time I remember thinking it was higher than our local plumbers. I do recall though they came quickly, answered our questions, completed the work and we were very happy with the the service and results. We have not had any further issues with the problems they corrected. We would hire AP plumbing again.
Description of Work: The employee sent out was very polite. He immediately put on booties to protect our floors. He asked for an explanation of the problem. After an explanation of the tub and sink drain problems and fixture issues we left the repairman to his work He made repairs, replaced fixtures and provided some clarifcations and was done with the job.

I was very displeased with the quote, and im glad i went to another company for a second quote and got it fixed for much cheaper. The work that was done was the exact same thing that AP plumbing quoted. I asked the guy from AP how long it would take and why it was so high and was told that he did not know how long it would take, but that price would cover his time for sure. The parts were under $50. My father was about to write a check for the $600 amount and i stopped him. then when the quote dropped $125 my dad started to write the check....he would have been ripped off if I was not there... I called back to ask AP what their hourly rate was, and they do not have one.
Description of Work: Got a quote for my dads leaky shower and it was $600. I said thanks but no thanks, I want a second estimate. He lowered the quote to $475, so i just paid the $50 for the quote and got one from another company. It was repaired for $140 in less then 30 min.

From the installation of the new water heater on April 10, it never really worked properly. On May 1, they replaced the transformer in the tank. The water heater then worked fairly well for a while, however it would run out of hot water surprisingly quickly. In February it began to fail completely and was giving us error messages on the digital display. The service techs came and could never get it to work properly. They were in and out of the house for a week, almost every day, trying to fix it. The techs did all they could, but could not figure out what was going on. The company even had a factory representative come out; he managed to get it working for a day, but it quickly stopped again. I finally told them to just get rid of the hybrid tank and give me a new, more conventional water heater. They were more than willing to come and take care of this for me. I had not had hot water for a couple days, so they even came out on a Sunday; usually their 'off' day. I asked them about the difference in costs, as the hybrid was much more expensive. At first, on March 10, they told me that they would not be reimbursing me. On March 18, the owner of the company did call me back regarding the issues surrounding the difference in costs, as I was rather upset. He told me that he was working on some type of compensation, and that he would get back to me. I still have not heard from him. I am mostly upset about the issues with the price difference, the techs were all wonderful (especially Don!) and did everything they could to help me.
Description of Work: I hired them to install a new water heater in my house, as the old one had completely stopped working. They convinced me to install a new hybrid water heater, because of the efficiency and cost savings.

The drain had been running slowly for a while and on Friday night, of course, the mess backed up into the downstairs shower, toilet and sink. A truly unpleasant mess. I had to make a "dam" of old towels to keep the water contained in the bathroom. It was gross grey and black and looked like lint and smelled like backed up sewer. We waited and it would go down only to fill back up when we ran the Washing machine, the dishwasher or took a shower. With a 2 year old you need the washing machine and with 3 adults you need the shower. We decided not to run the dishwasher but all of a sudden water was backing up again in the basement because my grandson who figures anything out, had set the dishwasher and turned it on - just wish he had put the soap pack in. On Sunday we called AP Plumbing as we had used them before and liked them a lot thinking it wouldn't be til Tuesday for them to come but they said they would be there on Monday between 2 and 5. They were very pleasant on the phone and reassuring that they would fix the problem. They called first thing Monday morning to say they would be there between 2 and 5 and confirmed the problem and address again and said they would call before they came over. It was after lunch when they called to say they would be there by one and that our plumber was Joe. In a little while Joe called to say he was on the way and he confirmed the address with me. When he arrived he introduced himself and said he would go down and take a look then be back up with a plan of action as it were. After a check with our two dogs helping out (luckily he had dogs of his own so they didn't bother him) he explained what he would be doing and what the estimated cost would be and if more was needed he would check with me before he proceeded. He came in with his machine and went right to work. In no time the water was flowing again and he was back upstairs. We discussed having a camera check of the line at a later time and what that would cost and what it might find. He treated me so professionally and he had a very warm personality. I couldn't help but like him. We had used the company before and he remembered meeting my son-in-law at that time. My family was very pleased and we will most certainly use them again.
Description of Work: Drain had backed up into the downstairs shower and toilet. Needed to be snaked so everything would flow correctly. I asked Joe to check the washing machine to see if there were any problems there because the backup happened whenever we used it along with the dishwasher and upstairs shower. Seemed like washing clothes sent the pipes into a "frenzy". He checked everything out and gave it an all clear.

They quoted me a price to snake my drain at $300 and between $300 and $700 to fix my leaking faucet, potentially having to cut thru my wall to get access to the back of the faucet. When I thanked them for coming but declined the service (because of the price!) they charged me $49.00 just for coming to the house. I snaked the drain myself for $20 and have contacted another plumbing company who have been very helpful and realized my faucets are under warranty so the parts will be free and they quoted me a price of $143.64 to complete the job. No charge for the consult!

I called the provider at about 1pm on a Saturday because I had water in the basement and I could not use water in the house without more water backing up in the basement. Their ad and website boasted that they had "same day service", emergency response, a 24/7 operation. I was told that they could not send anyone out to look at the problem until Monday, which was 2 days away.

My husband and I redid the lower level of our split level home. This included a very small bathroom. We got referred to AP by our Electrician, who we just love. The guy who came out for the estimate was on time and professional, and we started talking about what needed done. Our toilet had rusted to the floor and we could not remove it, so honestly we just wanted him to work their magic and remove it. I was also going to ask him a couple basic questions as we hadn't decided if we would try to install the new toilet ourselves or have them do all the installation. I new the cost would be higher than say Roto Rooter, but this company came highly recommended so I was game for that. But I was surprised at how much he wanted to charge for cutting the rusted bolt to remove the toilet. It was over $100 not including the dispatch fee. Now I know they do things differently and charge by job and not the time it takes to do the job. I couldn't help myself but question him on why it would cost so much. Here's where it went south. As soon as I questioned him about the high price his whole attitude changed. You could tell he was getting defensive. I quickly changed tactics and started talking about the rest of the bathroom. He told us it would cost over $1000 to install a new toilet because we had chosen to tile the floor and it would raise the floor too high and they would have to raise the pipe and do all this other stuff (remember we are on the basement or lower level of a split). I am all by myself as my husband is at work and I'm starting to panic because that was WAY over our budget and we were kinda in the middle and there was no return. I mentioned to him that we saw on DIY shows people installing basement toilet's all the time with no major problem. Then he went off about how people always think they can do things themselves and they can't. Plumbing professionals are the only ones that should be doing this work. He was basically scolding me and insisting it could not be done. I am beside myself and getting quite upset and trying to keep my cool. So I text my husband so he can be part of this fiasco. While I'm texting and waiting for a response, he continues berating our decision and then has the nerve to make a comment regarding my need to text or phone my husband. Like he had to waste his time waiting while I waited for a response from him. I had already decided I did not want to use this 'bleep', but I felt the need to at least determine if we were really in over our heads or not since for all I new he was right. After speaking to my husband we decided that regardless of what our next move was going to be, this guy had to go! So I told the guy we would not be using his company because of his treatment of the situation. He then realized his mistake and finished the visit by giving me a helpful hint on how to remove the sink. And I had to pay him the dispatch fee for this wonderful experience. The next day we called Roto rooter to ask them on the phone about this situation. We were told it should really be no problem and that we could go to Lowe's and buy a connector that would raise the pipe surface enough to connect the new toilet. We did just that. We decided to have Roto Rooter install both the toilet and sink. They did so with no problem and were very reasonably priced. It was a very pleasant experience working with them. Next time, it's Roto rooter all the way. So not only was the AP representative rude and arrogant, he was WRONG. I did eventually get to tell my electrician of my negative experience. They were appalled and wanted to know who he was. I could describe him but did not know his name. Like I said, he could have been having a bad day, but I don't regret our decision.

My bathroom drain pipe pulled away from the sink and water leaked in the cabinet below. I went to Home Depot and got the parts needed to fix it but needed help with it. I called AP Plumbing to come out and give me an estimate. I had to pay $59 for them to come out and look at it and the estimate was over $200 to fix it even though I already had all the parts needed. I had another leak in the master bathroom shower so that tacked that charge onto the price to help bring the cost DOWN. The estimate for both jobs was over $400. All I wanted was the sink fixed. Too expensive and I did not use them. I may consider them for any big repair jobs that I may need in the future. Overall they were professional, courteous, on time but price just too high for what I needed.

My old house is surrounded by silver maples so I have to get my main sewer line cabled every spring. Last year AP Plumbing came out and did a good job for $99 so I brought them out again this year. Unfortunately, they have doubled the price to $199 and since I needed their services on a Sunday, they charged me an additional $89 "dispatch fee." Code words for "we're going to rip you off in your time of need." Last year $99 this year $289! I guarantee I won't be using their services next year.

As I was leaving for work at 7am, I heard water running down in the familyroom. I went downstairs and found my water heater ws emptying all over the floor in the laundry room and running into the crawl space and finished family room. I tried to shut off the main valve but it was too hard. I called a neighbor who came immediately and helped push water into the crawl space. Meanwhile, I called AP Plumbing and they responded with a replacement heater within an hour. They not only replaced the heater but replaced the main shut off at no additional charge. The room was clean and dry when they left. They are now my plumber of choice.
