I initially saw Rick and his partner/employee working on a house at the other end of my street. I spoke with Rick about insulating my house. He got back to me with a price for blown in insulation for my 1st and 2nd floor @ a cost of $2,400.00. I told Rick that the house had recently gone through an energy audit and that I had been told that the north side of the house was the only area that had insulation. Rick told me that he'd stop by to review the possibility of the 3rd floor needing insulation and to check out the insulation for the north side of the house. Rick did show up for a preliminary walk through and paid quite a bit of attention to the 3rd floor, but didn't look for the insulation on the North side of the house (I didn't think that the 3rd floor required insulation due to the fact that it had been renovated by the previous owner). The day that Rick was due scheduled to arrive, I also was having central air installed. My car was parked in the driveway and so was the truck of the a/c installed. Rick pushed to get his trailer placed into the driveway, so I moved my car and asked the a/c installed to move his truck. I thought that the trailer would be the only item left in the driveway, per the conversation, but Rick conviently left his truck in the driveway as well. Rick approached me with a written estimate with the statement of work. The cost was $2400.00, disregarding the fact that the north side of the house potentially was already insulated. I told Rick that I would sign the document once we knew what was going on with the insulation on the north side of the house. I told him that I didn't want to have to pay for a side of the house that was already insulated. Rick told me that he would have his guy move over to that area of the house. I went back in the house and about an hour later I noticed that Rick's trailer and truck were gone. I also noticed that the pieces of clapboard that had been removed had been haphazardly nailed into the sides of the house. Additionally, there was insulation on the sidewalk next to the house. The only thing that I can figure is that Rick found out that he was not going to be paid the additional $600.00 for the north side of the house and just took off. I would not recommend Rick to wash my sidewalks or even cut my grass with an attitude like that.

The job went very well. Rick was very knowledgeable at his trade and offered great advice and explained everything he was going to do for this project. They were very clean and efficient; the job took about 4 to 5 hrs. I am very pleased with the results; my 2nd floor stays much cooler than before. Rick had the best price but what I really like was he took the time to analyze my project needs and explained everything.
Description of Work: I had blown in insulation added to my attic to raise the R value from R19 to R49 (Energy Star) rating, sealed all pipes and vents, corrented shofit vent issues plus add a vent through the roof for my bathroom fan.
