They were fantastic. It was a roof on a smaller home. The owner Mr. Marty was very involved and very professional. He took ownership of the project and the employees and how they behaved. The price was very fair. We got a lot of value in it.

It was a city grant. He did the work. The wood all rotted within five years. The side door wouldn't close. I called them to fix it, and they wouldn't without charging me a lot of money. He must have used the wrong kind of wood. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Overall they did a great job on the roof. They were quick and efficient, and did a great job of cleaning up during and after the job. Our only complaint (reflected in the responsiveness and proffesionalism grades) is we discussed the installation of a new bathroom exhaust fan and vent because we suspected the original fan was not properly vented. When I asked the crew about installing the fan in the bathroom, they said someone else would come to do that as they only did the roof and vent installation. We have made 3 or 4 calls to the owner and have not received a response. We did withhold a small portion of the final price to be paid when the fan was installed. Since that has not happened and we can't seem to get in touch with the owner we are without a fan. If we do get a response and the fan is installed we will revise this review.

We are very satisfied with the workers who put on the roof, as well as the roof itself. We were pleased with the foundation repair.

Absolutely amazing. Very professional and wonderful employees! Cleaned up each night and completed within thirty days a huge job in penfield. Came personally for providing a detailed quote and start date. Would recommend him to anyone!!!

I called him on two occasions and he never returned my calls to come give us a quote. I probably not be using him because I can't get in touch with him. If they don't respond to my phone calls I don't feel that is very professional.

They remodeled my kitchen. They are responsive and did a nice work. They were great. If there are any issues, they dealt with them immediately. They were reasonable on price.

We hired them based on the fact that they had the lowest bid of the five contractors we talked to and seemed knowledgeable. I will start by saying that we are happy with the results. Our house looks great and we are glad we invested in the new siding. That said, we had a number of complaints with how we got to the end result. First, the workers were not the most professional. Most of them were very polite and helpful, but even the polite ones were far from professional. At the time, we did not have any children, which was a good thing due to the fact that many of the workers were very comfortable with using profanity, even when we were in earshot. One of the workers dropped a ladder through a screen on our porch and this was never repaired. Secondly, despite the fact we were very insistent that they be vigilant about nails and other potentially dangerous debris being picked up each day because of our dog wandering around the yard, I still had to sweep the yard every day and found many missed nails and bits of the old asbestos siding. Our biggest complaint was that is seemed as though our requests went in one ear and out the other. We would ask for something, be told "no problem," and then whatever it was would not be done. For instance, the owner Marty told us they would take care of ripping out the bushes in front of our house by pulling them out with a truck. Instead, they were chopped down with a reciprocating saw leaving huge stumps in front of our house. When I complained, I was given a bottle of stump remover to use myself and ended up having to dig out the stumps myself. Secondly, we asked for white trim on the corner of the house as an accent and came home the next day to find the trim being installed was the same color as the house. When I complained, one of the workers tried to talk me out of the white trim by telling me "it'll really stand out." Eventually, when I persisted, it was rectified. There were a number of other instances where our requests either went unheeded or mistakes had to be corrected, extending the time it took to complete the job. When I had a problem, I often had to call the owner, who only stopped by occasionally and he very rarely called me back in a timely manner. Instead, he would relay my message/complaint to one of the workers without giving me a response. Time was another issue. I was told they would be done within a month, but in fact it took almost two months to complete the job. Additionally, there were a number of things that had not been previously discussed that we were charged extra for. As I said, we were pleased with the results but getting to the end was not smooth sailing by any means...

I made an appointment and he came out and took over two hours of my time walking threw my house which I wanted to remodel. He wrote down everything on his clipboard, told me he would write up an estimate and get it to me within the week. I never heard anything from him again and he did not answer his phone or reply after that appointment. Extremely unprofessional, how are people supposed to count on this guy? It seems he probably just subcontracts your work out if it is a simple enough job. Then he can mark up the job enough to make a good profit on it without getting his hands dirty himself, the guy that came out was just a salesman. Might as well use Home Depot or Lowes home install services, you would have something to back it up and get a more competitive price. Not to mention being lied to and waiting weeks for an estimate and job to start that never follows threw.

They came out and did measurements, but never called me back with the actual estimate. I called them many times to follow-up, but never received any word back.

I think Martin was very good. I did not use him; however, I was very impressed with him in his attempts to get my business. I ended up going with somebody else because they came in cheaper. I would consider using him in the future if the price is right.

They did a very thorough estimate and provided me with some useful advice. We are on the fence with whether we are actually going to replace our roof before putting it on the market, but if we do, we will most likely use A Best.

Placed 2 calls to the owner's voicemail and NEVER received a return call. Bad business practice!

The poster child for how customer service should be ruined.

He came out to do an estimate, but never actually gave me the estimate. He said he would mail it and never did. I called him twice, and he was not quite sure who I was either time I called. Eventually he remembered who I was and apologized for He said he wanted to come back and do the estimate again. I told him I was waiting on another appointment and that I would have to call him back. I never heard back from him after that.

Hard to reach does not return phone calls. Offered company more work. Asked for estimates but after couple of months still no response.

I phoned A Best Construction, Inc. to request an estimate for a roof repair. I phoned again in a week and left another message. No one ever got back to me. Failure to respond to a phone call is a pet peeve of mine, and all to common among contractors. I have moved on.

Did not end up using him for the roof.

We spent about $12000 on that service. They did a great job. The guys were fantastic. They were top-notch. They were really friendly, really helpful and I always knew what was going on because they always told me. They just did a fantastic job for us. We would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Very, very well. They did an amazing job and clean up after themselves. They quoted us a fair price that was thousands below other estimates we got. At first we thought it was to good to be true but they were lived up their name and more. They were kind and courteous through the whole job. They even raked our entire yard after they finished with the roof, awesome!

They did a good job, they were in and out and cleaned up. It was good. I found them on Angie's List. They came in and got it done, it was a professional job.

He was very prompt and very knowledgeable. He was eco-friendly and he knew his business. He had some good ideas about the kitchen. He?s been in business for awhile so he knew what I was looking for.
