Our asphalt driveway and concrete garage floor is horribly pitted, rutted, and cracking and we have been searching for quotes for some time. After getting two concrete quotes that were $8,000 different between the two for the same work, we gave up and started searching again a few months later. I called Joe, and the first thing he told me when he arrived was that it wouldn't be worth it to pour concrete for the whole driveway, but he'd be glad to do the floor. Very honest, willing to lose out on a $10k+ job. Gave us the best price by at least $500 for just the floor, and said he could start in less than two weeks. When the time came, his crew showed up on a Saturday morning, and got the floor completely removed by lunch. Then they came back Monday morning, poured the concrete, and was done sealing by mid afternoon, by which point he gave me instructions for how long I couldn't park there, I wrote him a check, and he went on his way. Couldn't have gone smoother, would HIGHLY recommend him to friends and will probably bring him back soon to do more work in different areas.

The quoting process was pretty simple and straightforward, and the price was consistent with others I received. I was really won over by some pictures he showed me of previous work, which showed a very cool and modern finish of the concrete. I had been considering getting a stamped finish, but this looked so good I didn't think the extra cost was worth it. However, the finish they actually used was a simple everyday broom finish. The hand troweled edging is nice, but the end product does NOT look like the pictures I saw originally, and what I expected. Don't get me wrong - it's not bad looking - just not the jazzy, fun look I expected. Another disappointment was concrete that was poured around tall pillars (wooden) that hold up the front porch. He was supposed to leave an air gap so that the concrete didn?t directly contact the pillars...didn't do it. The pillars are essentially buried in direct contact with concrete, which will likely lead to early rotting and replacement. This can't be fixed without completely ripping out the new stoop and repouring it. Now I have to worry about that problem. The step at the front of the stoop is higher than I wanted. This could easily have been set at the correct height by the forms, but wasn't. Am I supposed to go out there and measure the forms to make sure they get it right? The stoop also was to have a recessed step - that is, the front surface would have a slightly extended overhang. This same front surface of the stoop was left VERY rough looking. Lastly, where the concrete walk meets the driveway, the sidewalk is LOWER than the asphalt. I asked for it to be flush to prevent water from flowing off the driveway onto the walk. These were all items we discussed, but I didn't insist on including in the contract (my bad). So, I'm left with a so-so job compared to what I expected. Again, it's not terrible, just not up to my expectations of what had been discussed. As for professionalism, I initially thought very highly of him, until he showed up to do the work with his minor son (high school age) as part of the work crew. As a homeowner, I have an issue with using a minor on a construction project, and would not have signed a contract had I known this was going to happen. Too much liability for me. He DID show up when he said he would, which is a great attribute in a contractor, so props for that. UPDATE The information contained in this review was provided by husband of member who had all direct dealings with the contractor. After reading contractor's response we are even more affirmed that we would NOT recommend him. His assertion is not accurate about being level with the driveway,and the step is 8 inches, not 7. ( I wanted 7 but didn't get it). Also, I don't care what your experience is, I did NOT want pouring up against the pillar, and made a specific request to that effect. Member and husband stand by the review we provided as truthful and accurate.

I was impressed with the quick response I got from Joe when I contacted him via email. In spite of this being a small job, he was ready to give me an estimate quickly. When plans for the appointment time had to be changed, he notified me quickly and checked that it would be ok with me. Although I decided not to have the step repair done at this time, I would definitely call Joe again and recommend him to others based on his quick response and his followup.

Absolutely couldn't have gone better. Great work, reasonable price and a contractor who would do the job without putting it off for weeks. Joe also made sure things were wrapped up so the concrete would cure properly, and came back the next day to check on the process.

Joe gave good suggestions for different options and how long he expected the work to last. Fast, good quality work. Cleaned up.

I just wanted to say that the contractor's response to my call was very quick. We set a date to start the project and he came out exactly as promised. The quality of work his work is unmatched. The new pillars look awesome.
