Horrible service

We had a water main break in the street that according to the city was our responsibility to repair. We spoke to several companies and even tho Balkan did not have the lowest price their service dept made such a good impression, we went with them. We were not disappointed. They came promptly when they said they would. worked diligently into the night to get the job done. The workman were pleasant and efficient. The job was completed in a timely fashion. Several weeks later there was a problem with an area they had paved. It was beginning to sink a little. We called and they came the same day to fix it. We havent had a problem since. We would definitely use Balkan again and would highly reccommend them. In my opinion, When it comes to Balkan, there are no "don'ts" Only one "Do". If you have a situation like this, "DO" call Balkan.

I contacted Balkan Sewer And Water through their website, and received a call from them within an hour to schedule an appointment with one of their sales representative. The sales representative arrived on time to assess the services that I need. I received two estimates from them through email. One estimate was a partial replacement of the main sewer line, while the other estimate was a full replacement. I emailed them twice with my questions and concerns, but did not receive any response from Balkan Sewer And Water. Their price is competitive with other contractors but they have very poor communication.

Overall, it was a positive experience.

Personnel from Balkan arrived on time with proper ID and a smile on their faces. They checked to make sure that ducts leading from our 10-apartment building were clean and safe. They left the site spotless. I can not recommend them highly enough! If only all service companies were like this one.du

Frank made the appointment on time, and gave us excellent advice on what we should do about our outdoor blocked drain. He let us know specifically why the suggestion of another drain person would be a bad idea. He seemed quite knowledgeable, and I appreciate his input.

Balkan came gave me an estimate, which was $2,700 less then their cheapest competitor. (I had 4 estimates for this job). The workers arrived on time and worked hard all day no goofing off this was a big job. We did have an issue when they broke our main water line coming into the house. We had to wait till the next day to have repaired, however they were able to connect us to our neighbors line and thankfully they did not mind. They were very neat, and cleaned up the best you could have expected for such a big job. My only complain was that I did not feel that the the workers communicated well with us. If we did not ask, no one said anything and it was never clear who exactly was running the job. Other then that, they were very hard working and did a very good job, just as promised. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has to have this type of work done.

I called on a Mon., got an estimate that afternoon, and they were going to start the next day. I scheduled for the following Mon. They arrived at 8:15, dug out a large bush where they needed to dig a hole. They dug a hole in the basement, replaced the trap, and dug out under our porch to reach the hole in the yard. They got about half the job done on Mon., replanted the bush, filled the first hole and replaced the sod. They fixed up a temporary drain for us so we could shower and use the toilet. They finished the following day, and repaired the sidewalk the following day. At one point there was a pile of dirt in the basement about 5 feet high and 10 feet across and a bigger one in the front yard. They had put down tarps to put the dirt on, and did a good job of cleaning up. The bush they had to take out was replanted properly and didn't even wilt. Everyone, from the people answering the phones, to the guy who did the estimate, to the workmen, were conscientious, courteous, and efficient, and the price was much lower than some of our neighbors had to pay for the same job. We had been dreading this project for a couple of years, but Balkan did a great job. We highly recommend them!

They came promptly, fixed the problem, stuck to the budget (which was $3000 less expensive than a popular competitor). I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The pipe was replaced in one day. They partly knock-out my electrical connection. When I discovered this, they called Con Edison and scheduled an emergency repair. Power was restored that evening. I gave them an 'A', because the error seemed excusable and they acted responsibly. They quoted $3,000 and that is what I paid. This was less than I expected to pay.

I would recommend them since they are very professional. The quality of their work is good. Everything went smoothly. I would use their services in the future too.

They did not get back to me and I kept on calling them and they were completely unreachable. They were recommended by another company and they came and just checked the place out once. We never signed a contract, but they just never came when they said they would. I don?t know what happened and I think they completely forgot about this project. I tried to contact them a few time and they just seemed to be really confused.

In the process of purchasing our house we found issues with water pressure in the house. After ruling out any issues with the interior plumbing, the seller brought in water main specialists and determined that there was most likely an issue with the water main from the house to the street. Wanting to get a second opinion on our own, we contacted Balkan. I placed a call early evening and got a call back from the actual technician later that night... when I wasn't really expecting a response until the next day considering the lateness in the day. So not only did I get a call back, but they were able to come out the next day for a FREE estimate. The next day they arrived on time and checked things out... they gave us an estimate on the spot, which was considerably less expensive than what the seller had received. Since we were not the owners of the house yet, we told them that we would be in touch after closing. I called them after we closed a couple of months later, and they completely remembered our house and the job. They honored the estimate they gave and were able to come to do the job the next day. They were able to complete everything as promised, making very little mess of our yard or street! And we have not had any water pressure issues since!! But if we ever needed anything else on this in the future, we would definitely use Balkan again!!

The man who came from Balkan to assess the work explained things well. The workmen came exactly when he said they would. They had to work hard, there was a lot of hand digging. The work was completed with no damage to my front yard. New piping was set up in my cellar but everything was cleaned up nicely. The workmen were polite. I got a ten year guarentee on the work. I was very satisfied and pleased with the company and would recommend them.

Called Balkan on 7/26 for a quote on water main replacement. A guy called Vinny showed up in 2 hours who gave me a quote for $2500 which include water main replacement and restore any disturbed pavement. Gave him the order on the same day and the next morning at 8:00 AM, their crew showed and finished the job by 3:00 PM. The job was clean and well executed. I can tell they are a specialist in water main replacement and they've been doing this for long time. Will recommend them to anyone who's need a new water main.

My main water line started to leak water in the basement. I called Balkan & their supervisor Jay came to my home on a Sunday to evaluate the problem. He knew what he was talking about & told us exactly what had to be done. He gave us a fair price & made an appointment for his crew to come that week. 4 men came to my home 2 days later & dug 4 holes (2 on my property & 2 within the street). I was very impressed with how hard these men worked. They worked non stop for 7 hours without a break until they were done. I felt bad for them & gave them water & soda because the day was so hot. They also dug a hole in my house for the placement of the main line & installed all the cooper piping (1") to the city line. After completing the work, they filled in the holes & the cement workers came back the next day to recement the patch they dug up. The workers were great & very neat. I would refer this company to any one in need of a new water or sewer main break. Thank You ! Maureen O.

Super fast and friendly. I have two boys ages 2 and 4 years old. The crew waved to them while they worked and got the job done fast. They were courteous and understanding that I have children. They asked before shutting the water off for the few hours they needed to do so enabling me to fill some pots first. The crew went so out of their way that even when digging up our front lawn they managed to spare the flowers without anyone even asking. My picky neighbors were impressed!

From the first phone call I spoke with a very well informed person at Balkan. I was given a day for a person to give me a free estimate. A professional looking man named Vinny arrived at my door precisely at the time specified. Amazingly, the estimate that he gave me for the job was exactly what I paid. When the job was finished I has lots of pressure in my shower and sinks. The job was well done and I was very pleased. They secured the permit and I didn't have to do anything but pay the agreed price.
