Down Under Faux

I cannot praise Muriel enough. About 15 years ago she faux painted a dining room wall for us, mimicking a sunset, that we loved and drew raves from friends and family. This past summer she faux painted a bathroom that had become dowdy, so that now it is bright and cheery. Muriel is easy to work with and her rates are very reasonable,

Muriel has completed several projects on our house and always to the highest standard. Recently, she managed the complete renovation of our basement into a lower ground floor including a wine cellar (amongst other things). For the wine cellar, she used faux paint on the walls and ceiling to create the look of an old wine cave – exactly as specified. We had a very out of date kitchen, bathroom, and living area. They helped us envision a major renovation and then they pulled it off in exquisite fashion. My kitchen is now the best place I've ever cooked, with tons of storage and a very intelligent layout. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality. The paint job on the walls, ceilings, and cabinets is absolutely perfect. Muriel is easy to work with, highly motivated, and supremely skilled. Her creative sensibility is amazing. I cannot recommend Down Under Faux enough.

Muriel's decorative finishes are on every wall in my house. They are exquisite. Her work is museum-quality. I would hire her again but I'm out of walls.

We brought this project to DBF New York with less than a month to go before our move-in date. They responded immediately, coming up with a plan to get the main floor done prior to our arrival, with the option of hiring them to do the second floor after we were moved in. We are so happy we found them. They worked tirelessly, with excellent communication with us. Our ultimate goal was to turn the extremely dated interior into a clean and modern open space. They understood our vision and helped us achieve it, down to the last detail. Every single room looks completely transformed. We could not be happier and intend to use them again when we expand renovations to encompass the garage, deck, and outbuilding.

Once we decided which was the best way to go with the cabinets it was smooth sailing. Initially I had to decided whether I wanted Muriel to reface the cabinets or paint the cabinets that I already had. I went with the cabinets I already have and we then had to choose a paint color. I went with a cocoa and it blended with my new countertop perfectly. It took longer than I thought it would because there are so many steps in doing chalk painting. It was finished today and the new hardware went on and the doors back up. AWESOME! I have a whole new look, love the cabinets and now my floor looks awful!

Muriel created a beautiful design in our front entrywall that we are very pleased with. She promptly returned phone calls and came on time each day. Muriel is very reliable and we felt lucky to have found her.

It went very well. She is a lovely person who truly loves what she does. I've had interior decorators before and they can be snooty. Muriel is very friendly and knowledgeable without being arrogant. She listens intently and her input reflects her vast experience. I enjoyed her company immensely and wouldn't hesitate on using her again.

I took advantage of Angie's List's 'Big Deal' offering to have an interior design consulation with Muriel Norman from 'Down Under Faux'. The timing of the offer was perfect because we were getting ready to paint the interior of our house and do possibly do some renovation. Everything went perfectly from the initial purchase of the deal to the consultation itself. Muriel responded right away to set up a time for the consultation and asked about what we were planning so she could help us the most. She arrived on time and was prepared with paint wheels/chips to help with me with my color selection. Muriel provided creative suggestions to any and all of my design questions and concerns. She is very warm, friendly and funny. Muriel is very easy going and makes you feel very comfortable. After talking with her for a short time I felt like I had know her much longer. I also had the pleasure and opportunity of seeing some of Muriel's faux finish portfolio which is spectacular. She is a true faux artist. DUF was on time, professional and on budget. Have use DUF for two houses and the results were great!

They are incredible. I have nothing but great thing's to say about them. We used them for a very large project and her estimates came in on time and on budget. She has meticulous preparation and her price was about the same cost as a regular house painter and her finishes were highly specialized, custom finishes.
