Response from JTC Remodeling Inc
I was not rude to this lady in any way. I looked at her work on 1/24/14. The appointment took about 45 minutes as she added more projects than the original request when she found out I could do everything she needed done. She thanked me for being so professional and spending so much time with her as I was leaving. I called her with the quote on 1/25/14 and she told me she had received lower prices for two out of three but asked if I could lower my price on removing the walls between the dining room and living room. I told her I could lower it by $300.00 and she said when can you start. We scheduled the start date on 2/4/14 and I called her on 2/2/14 to confirm but did not speak her, just left a message. She returned me back call within the hour and told me I will not be needed and I asked "Can I know the reason?" She said she was getting a lower price from someone else and that we did not have any agreement, and I said we had verbal agreement to start on Tuesday. She at first denied having an agreement but then said yes we had verbal, not written agreement which was going to be signed on Tuesday. Because I asked her for a reason she instantly became rude, like I had the nerve to question her. This is my exact words to her, " We had a verbal agreement and you went back on your word, have a nice day" My voice had a normal tone, I was not rude or condescending. I realize she is just looking for the lowest price she can find and I accept that. My philosophy is "you get what you pay for". My business is built on being professional and performing quality work, I cannot afford to be rude to customers even if I don't do the work because word of mouth is very important in my profession.
