+ -1 moreI hired Dale to rebuild my house in Csrmel NY after a fire. He took the insurance money and built a shell. He refused to finish even though there was 30K left in the account to finish. I suspect because he only built a shell, he knew that was not enough for him to actually finish. I think he would not release me to finish the house with another contractor because he knew he would be discovered as a fraud. RUN AWAY FROM WORKING WITH HIM!
Description of Work: Built a shell with insurance money. Scam artist. Refused to finish building my house. Refused to release me from his contract with Bank. Caused me to foreclose.

+ -1 moreHorrible. He wouldn't finish the job. Wouldn't get his lawyer to get money from Bank Of America he kept saying he was owed. Wouldn't release me so that I could hire someone else to finish the house. Ruined my credit. Cost me thousands of dollars. Have to foreclose. So much stress. Shame on him.
Description of Work: My house burned down. Dale Phillips was recommended by Eric Gruber, insurance adjuster in Mahopac NY, to re build the house. I hired Dale to rebuild the house. He basically built a shell and pocketed the insurance money. He never completed the project. He said that Bank Of America owed him money but he never sent them a letter or even tried to get them to to pay him what he claimed they owed him. My R.E. broker and other contractors who have seen the house say he built a shell. He left me high and dry. He used to say he was afraid somethIng bad was going to happen and that he would not be able to complete the job and that our relationship would get messed up. We were friendly. I liked and TRUSTED Dale. It took me a year to understand what he did. I'm certain that Eric Gruber got a kick back. BEWARE.
