I wish I could give zero stars. We hired Douglas for a kitchen remodel which involved installing a kitchen island, pantry, and all the related plumbing and electrical work. The communication between Douglas and his carpenter was terrible. We submitted sketches and agreed upon the design for the cabinets which were meant to be overlaid. When the island arrived, the cabinets were inset which did not match the rest of the kitchen. In addition, the kitchen island has split and cracked at more than half of the joints. The pantry cabinet has split and areas of unpainted MDF are showing. We have needed to paint and touch up many of these spots. Regarding the plumbing, we have had multiple significant leaks from piping and tubing that the team installed. Water has leaked even through the floor and into the basement. Upon review from other plumbers, all have confirmed the parts used were cheap and of low quality, and the workmanship was subpar. After a major leak in the middle of the night, we reached out to Douglas and respectfully voiced our issues and complaints. He ignored us for a full month, and then instead of simply stopping by to take a look at the problems (which would have been the first major step to alleviating our frustrations), he responded in a despicable manner. He even included the following quote from his lawyer, He laughed saying that perhaps you lost your job (due to the CoronaVirus) and were probably scrounging for any money you could scrape up. Who would want to work with someone like this?

Job: Addition of a family room (design and build) and rebuild of our deck. Reasoning for 5 stars: Douglas is a great listener. As an architect, Douglas listened to our ideas and gave us exactly what we wanted while providing us with expert advice on aspects we were unsure about. Douglas is very efficient in everything he does from drawing to filing with the town. What impressed me most about Douglas was his ability to project manage. Supplies and subcontractors were all scheduled far in advance. The project took place in the middle of the winter and there never seemed to be a day wasted. Douglasâ demeanor makes him great to work with. In March of 2020, it seemed as if the world was collapsing around us. Douglas kept a level head and kept the project moving along making sure all inspections happened before towns began to close their offices. Lastly, Douglas was upfront about the additional costs. He explained the problems, showed us the issues and gave us choices when possible about how to proceed. I highly recommend Douglas and he will be the first person I reach out to the next time we want to do any remodeling to our home.

Douglas was a pleasure to work with. Together we spent several months planning a major kitchen/first floor renovation. Occasionally we had difficulties as parts of house date back to 18th century. But Douglas was able to orchestrate the smooth completion of an otherwise challenging project. The final results are magazine worthy - Douglas added to our ideas and understood our vision. The workers were always prompt and courteous. Overall, I would recommend Douglas for an extensive remodel/rebuild. His background in architecture and design were of great value.

I needed my deck rebuilt. Doug gave us a fair estimate and we proceeded. He was finished in exactly the time he told us he would be, and while it came in above the estimate, Doug told us exactly why. My original deck was not built to code and he brought it up to code, but you couldn't tell that until the old deck was demolished. We also asked him to do some extra work for us. The small amount of extra money we spent was well worth it. My new deck looks amazing. Doug is patient and kind and professional. I am going to have him do more work for me.

Douglas was extremely professional, started on time finished on time, paid attention to details. Overall he was excellent and I would recommend and use him again.

Douglas arrived on schedule, provided a competitive estimate and completed the job the next day!!! Everything went so smoothly I hired him to do my deck, which was performed to the same high standard. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended.

Douglas tore down our collapsed deck and replaced it with a new one. Work was completed faster than promised. Crew was excellent and cleaned up the area nicely.

We had large repairs to our roof, siding and deck following Storm Sandy. No other contractors wanted to take the job. Douglas made the repairs very well, in a timely manner and professionally. He also coordinated with a difficult insurance company that required a re-appraisal and considerable amount of paperwork. We recommend him highly and will hire him again in the future.

He is very responsive. He helped remodel a kitchen and put in the walkway out front. Great job painting. He has done multiple jobs for me. He and his crew are all around a great crew.

Douglas and his crew built a new deck and fence at my house in lightning speed, but with excellent workmanship.
