TOMPKINS DISPOSAL INC

They would come and get the garbage but leave the recycling. This has happened on multiple occasions. I called them about this at least 3 times and they never came back to get it until the next scheduled pick up. This really annoyed me. Also, they dont offer bulk pick up or all together recycling. A lot of small issues like this and the lack of convenience has caused us to find another company.

I purchased a new home and called Tompkins to sign up for service on 8/24/10 and I told them that I needed a new garbage pail that is the special ones that they provide because the previous homeowner's pail was broken and the lid could not be secured. It took them until the week of Sept. 15 to deliver a new pail. Up until this time, I did not put out any trash to be collected because the old pail was broken, and also I was not living in my new home yet due to repairs being done. I called to ask for a bulk pick up and was told that if I signed a contract and paid the 128 dollars that I owed them that I would be able to get the bulk picked up for free. I inquired as to why I owed that balance and the customer service rep. told me it was for garbage pick up. I told him that I just got my new pail, and that I haven't even put any trash out for collection yet, and he rudely " you could have used the broken pail correct??" and he also stated that they came by my house for pick up anyway. I responded that my next door neighbor uses their company so that they didn't make any special trips to my house for pick up and that their was never any trash put out anyway. He insisted that I still had to pay. I told him not to bother to send me out a contract and that I would find an honest person to collect my garbage. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! There customer service was rude every time that I called to remind them that I needed a new pail, and they acted as if they were doing me a favor to bring me a pail that they require I use anyway. They also put you on hold several times when you call so a quick phone call lasts 15 minutes. BE WARNED HORRIBLE Customer Service, and very dishonest business practices!
