Fitzgerald Tile

The work went very good and I'm happy with Handyman Andy but we had problems with the material bought from Fitzgerald Tile Co. First, too much material was ordered. I gave Fitzgerald the dimensions of the work and he order the amount of supplies. Much to much was ordered and of course, special orders can't be returned! How convenient for Fitzgerald's. OK, but why now accept unopened bags of thin set mortar? Second, I had 2 different sizes of ceramic floor tile. Some of the smaller tiles were cut from the larger tile! No one told me when I paid for the tile that the smaller size wasn't manufactured to that size. Then I discover about a third of the smaller tile was used with old mortar still on the back. Fitzgerald answer was that my contractor did that!!! I was home for the 4 days of work and the used tile came straight out of the box. This is what I get for buying local to help out local business and remember you can't even trust Andie's List!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should have bought my supplies from Home Depot or Lowe's.

We went to the showroom and picked out background and accent tiles for our kitchen backsplash. It was busy and took a while to close the order on a Saturday. The owners do installations themselves on weekends/nights. We had a scheduled installation within three weeks. The installer always called ahead and arrived when he said he would and cleaned up after he was done. He was finished in 2 sessions (over 3 days) and the backsplash looks great. Price was competitive I thought.

Overall, the customer service is A+, the products are A+. Very highly recommended.

I started out by going to the big box stores in the area. I found tile that I liked but could not get answers to even simple questions. For instance, I asked a person in the tile department if a price was per square foot or per tile (4"X4") and they had no clue. I visited Fitzgerald Tile and these guys have more tile than you can imagine as well as an unbelievable selection of accessories. My wife and I went there with a sample of my new floor (to be installed), a cabinet door and sample of the sile stone countertop. They seemed to have an unlimited supply of tile to show us. The were very patient (especially with the wife). We were able to select everything we needed from the mastic to the colored grout to the tile and small medallions to install as part of a pattern. We even purchased matching tile face plates for the electric boxes. If you over buy or determine there is something you don't need or want, they are very good at taking unused things back. I may have spent more here than I would have for tile from a big box store, but then I would not have been able to get exactly what I wanted.
