He is excellent. Never a call back after his work. I have been using him for years.

I really did not like the initial work that he did and I made him change something and I think he was just going to leave it like that and I felt him to be threatening. When I asked him a questions, he looked at me like how could I ask that. I did not like his work, what he did and I had him replace it which he did. I thought it looked like an angry replacement 'cause it was just not finished nicely. The end of a piece of a wood was not finished nicely and it was not sanded. It was just shoved up there. He told me that I know where he lives. I felt he overcharged me. He also said he would replace slights on my roof which he did not do. When he put up the gutters, he told me he painted the wood behind the gutters and I told him I don't think he painted it and he had me get on a ladder to see that he did and it still didn't look like he painted it but I said yes to him 'cause I felt that he was threatening. I don't think he was a good guy. His bill almost look like typewriter written that it was so bizarre. I probably shouldn't have hired him but I did 'cause they give a good talk when they're with you. I really felt like I was mislead. I thought he was going to do my whole chimney and instead, he only did the upper part and I should have read the bill more carefully and now that's why I don't do a lot of things that quickly anymore. I was here in this house a long time before I had the repairs done. I really felt he was the most unscrupulous character. When I tried to get him back to do something, he took a very long time to get back to me. Maybe he'll come back when he's ready. He had his son come and help him. I asked his son if he could clean out the gutters and he never did. he just ignored me. The son put a piece of wood about 8 feet long and when the son put it up, I saw he put up 2 separate pieces so now, I have a seam and I called the father back and told him about it and he told me he's a company man doing company work meaning doing the shortcuts and using pieces that they have and I told him that I don't like company work. I just look at it all the time and I think of him and I'm sorry I even had him in my house. I wouldn't use him again. I think he misrepresents himself and I think he's scary. Everything is an F. I think he got his money for one thing and I think he went off on some bench and decided to come back when he's good and ready. I don't want to see him ever again. I don't want him here.

Final price was pricier than quoted. On another est. his price was double others

Alf's offers a snow removal contract. We hired them two years ago, and got passable service from them in the last two winters. However, on February 8th, during Winter Storm Nemo, and the days following, Alf's gave LOUSY service. They came to plow our circular driveway in the middle of the storm on Friday the 8th, made one swipe up the straight part, and did not even touch the rest of the driveway. Then, during the remainder of Friday night, the storm deposited a further 3-5 inches of snow. Alf's never came back to finish the plowing. I expected Alf's to come back and finish the job, and waited for them to do so on Saturday Feb 9th. We had to drive on the remaining snow on Saturday, which compacted the snow, and allowed it to partially thaw and refreeze into ice over Saturday night, and by Sunday morning it was hard ice. My neighbor with whom we share part of the driveway was chipping at the ice on Sunday morning, which caused me to call Alf's to complain about the icy conditions their failure to finish the job caused. When the owner arrived to see about the complaint, he told me he couldn't do anything about it because "It's ice now". He then proceeded to lecture me about his claim that ice can't form underneath snow, so the partial thaw and refreeze couldn't have happened. When I said that it was his failure to finish the plowing that allowed the ice to form, he got mad and said that we no longer have a contract. Darn straight. Don't hire this company to do anything. The photos that go along with this review show the unfinished plow job, and show the difference between the clear part of the street plowed by the Village trucks, and the ice covered part that Alf's never finished.

This was a nightmare. I believe this man is dishonest and wanted to scam the insurance company. He wanted to estimate the damage himself. Three weeks later he came back to do this and called my adjuster. He had told us not to worry and according to what he said over the phone that this would be about a $200 job. Now he was saying it would be $1000. This whole mess included four visits to the court because he sued us for not wanting to pay $1000 for a $200 job. We ended up paying him $600 to get him off our backs. He threatened us that we would be sorry. We believe he had the building inspector come to us and tell us we couldn't rebuild our screened in porch without a permit. This was a part of the house that was already there.
