I was referred to Curra Constriction (Sam Curra) by K&I Custom Cabinet?s.(Ken) I had contracted K&I to install kitchen cabinets that I was supplying, and supply and install the countertop and tile the back splash. As part of the kitchen remodeling project I wanted to have the sheet rock removed from the outside wall to reinsulate (there was no insulation), install laminate flooring, install new wood floor molding to match the existing wood molding, install new lighting, upgrade the existing electrical panel, and some other minor things. K&I informed me that they work Curra Constriction as the carpenter and that K&I would also could supply the electrician, the plumber, and the counter top. I later found out that Ken would supply the plumber and the counter top installer and Sam would supply the electrician. During the remodeling Curra was prompt and called to confirm date?s but there work was less then expected and not professional as I would have expected from some one that has been in business as long as he has.. When questioned about issues Sam would get defensive and not be attentive of the customers concerns. To be more specific I had pointed out to Sam when he first came to estimate the job that in the laundry room there was a clean out drain in the floor that would need to have access to in the event of a clogged pipe and when installing the laminate flooring this would be a problem that would need to be worked out. To my surprise after the floor was installed the clean out drain was covered over by the laminate flooring. When I questioned Sam he became defensive. I stated to him that this was a problem that was noted during the estimate and if I need to have the drain cleaned the flooring would need to be removed and this would be a huge expense to me. He really did not seam concerned. Bottom line is the flooring is still that way (My problem). When installing the laminate flooring under the hot water heater they left a square space around 4 inched around the base of the hot water heater (note the water heater is round). With this square space the concrete floor was exposed. This looked horrible and when I pointed it out to Sam he stated that by code he had to leave 3 inches around a heat source. I would have been better during the estimate that this would have been pointed out and possibility a better solution could have been proposed. . In stead of a square at least they could have made it round to match the base of the water heater. I fixed the flooring myself. It should also be noted that Sam over estimated the required flooring material by two boxes. The` flooring was a special order that cannot be returned at a cost of $47 dollars per box. I am now stuck with $94 dollars of material. When Sam installed the microwave oven over the stove it was not level with the stove. When I pointed this out to Sam he stated that that was because the cabinets were not level. Keep in mine that Sam and Ken friends and use each other for a lot of jobs. I found this some what odd that Sam would blame it on Ken, but moreover that Sam did not inform me there was a problem before hand. And that before mounting it Sam would have consulted with Ken. The molding was also an issue with Sam. I explained to both Ken and Sam before work started that all the molding in the house was done by me and that I had done three coats of stain and three coats of polyurethane to achieve the color and texture. If they wanted I would stain and polyurethane the moldings but they said they would handle it. I gave them copies of the stain and polyurethane I used the first time. The molding Sam installed did not match (color) and he added one coat of polyurethane after the molding was installed. When questioned on this Sam stated that because the moldings I had done were older that the color was faded. That could be some what true but the fact still is that that did not receive three coats as I had requested. In the laundry room the lower part of one wall was missing a small section of the 2x4 footer and some of the lower sheet rock. This was missed in the estimate and Sam had to replace it so there would be a way to install the molding. This whole job took less then one half hr excluding spackle that was done later by Sam. During the estimate it was noted by Ken that the kitchen faucet (moen motionsence) would need an 120 vac outlet under the sink. There was all ready going to be a floor heater installed (included in estimate) that needed to be wired the main circut electrical box in the laundry room. At this point nether Ken or Sam stated that there would be an extra charge for the outlet... When the electrician installed the heater and wiring and he forgot (or Sam did not inform him) of the need for the outlet. When he electriction realized this he then installed an outlet but it was after the fact. It was not until when Sam finished the job and was seeking final payment that he brought this up and when I informed him that he should have said something at the estimate he became defensive and said that he did fix the laundry room sheet rock and 2x4 with no charge. The cost of the outlet was $75. At the completion of all work Sam was paid in full (price quoted in estimate) along with the additional $75 for the outlet because I knew I was not getting any were when I would bring up issues to him. Bottom line is Sam knew that I was gong to do the bathroom after the kitchen and now after this experience with him that is out of the question of him ever working for me. I was also given half of a old letter head that he had in his truck as a receipt and not a detailed receipt like I had goten from K&Ifor there work. I also was not asked to complete an ST-124 certificate Of capaital Inprovement (NYS Tax form) as I did for K&I. I should note that I am unsure if that is needed. In closing I would express that Curra Constriction was prompt and did show up when they said they would but that does not justify sub standard workmanship on his part.remodel. Sam. If you dispute any of the facts please contact me and if correct I will edit or change this statement.

It is still on going. They are very professional. The do attention to detail, I'd consider them not only carpenters but they have like, they would make the cabinets or furniture artisans. They are very meticulous, they are very detailed, many qualities that we have come to appreciate in his workers notably, very easy to work with, very easy to communicate with. They engage you also in some of the processes before you have to ask them. We are pleased. They are very conscientious of every thing about it.

A job well done! Curra Construction did a professional job, giving me a much more solid porch than I had prior. Sam Curra was very professional, and he arrived when he said he would be here. The other employees were also very courteous and friendly. I had three estimates, and Curra was in line with the rest. Excellent work. Would highly recommend.
Description of Work: A new front porch was built, and the existing, rotting, porch was removed. Footings had to be dug deeper because of faulty job done on previous porch. Materials used were wood, vinyl rails and maintenance free decking. Porch was approximately 6 x 6.
