It went extremely well. Marie from the office and John who I spoke with about the job were very professional, friendly, compassionate and patient. Everyone that I communicated with I give thumbs up. The crew arrived on time and did a magnificent job. The clean up was the best! I love my new roof!! Gutters were cleaned and a chimney flasher was placed also. I recommend them very highly and will use them again.

I dealt directly with the owner. They were personable people. I felt like being spoken to. They were helpful in explaining every process of the job. They actually came to my house about three to four different times to answer questions. Overall, I had an outstanding experience with them. They came in, did an inspection on the home and gave me a quote on what it would take. They were very upfront about the incidentals that they may not be able to see at that time. They could not tell right away if the plywood underneath the roof needed to be replaced after they took off the old roof and they were very upfront about that. They did an outstanding job.

It went great! We were shocked that they worked in the 15 degree weather but they did. They worked all day and were able to not only replace damaged boards but completed the roof job for our 2700 square foot house. They cleaned up completely and had a crew of approx 15 guys to the end!

I had previously used A-1 Roofing to do some minor repairs to my roof after Hurricane Sandy. When it became evident that I needed a new roof, I scheduled three estimates, A-1 included. Their price was competitive and was actually in the middle of the three that I received. I was somewhat apprehensive about this project as two layers of old shingles had to be stripped first and then the new roofing installed. It seemed to be a large job and I was worried that it would take 2-3 days and possibly involve some bad weather. Vincent of A-1 insured me that he would use a large crew and it would definitely be done in one day. Maria in the office was very helpful in setting up the contract and scheduling my job. On the day of the job, the crew was on site and ready to start at 8 AM. They were very professional and the supervisor Mario was very attentive to all of my concerns. The work and the entire clean-up was completed by 3:30 and I was completely satisfied. I would definitely recommend A-1 Roofing to all of my friends and neighbors.

I chose A1 roofing out of six different estimates I got. There were 3 cheaper ones and 2 that were more expensive. They offered to do several things for free such as removing the satellite dish, replacing A fascia metal piece, and repairing a broken siding. They also offered the front gutter for free but when I told him that I wanted the backside gutter as well, told me that I would be charged 150 more. I wanted screen on the gutter but it wasn't specified on the proposal. They offered that for free as well after my complaint. It rained out the first Saturday. The second Saturday had a weather forecast of 50 percent chance of rain. I didn't want to chance and I told the owner to postpone it again until Monday, MLK day. John respected my wishes and I got the job done on Monday instead. It turned out Saturday was a clear day after all. I was somewhat of a pain to them but they were patient. When the work commenced, the 7 guys worked extremely hard all day long. More importantly, they were extremely courteous and respectful. They were respectful of my property and let me know about different things that were going on. The guys seemed happy and didn't seem to mind the fact that I was hovering around them all day long, taking pictures. They didn't even ask me for money as they left. I have to call up tomorrow and pay. I will recommend them to some people that I know.

Each person I dealt with was great. Customer service was top notch. Correctly diagnosed a leak around my chimney in minutes, fixed it within days from when I called to schedule the work. Would highly recommend and will use when I re- side my house next summer.

Roof repair, nice, personable customer service, went well

We called A-1 to replace the roof we had recently purchased. The crew arrived right on time and finished the job by early afternoon. Clean-up was immaculate. We had several different prices and their price came in right at the middle. Dealing with them was a pleasure. We were so impressed with the roof that we called them again to replace the windows in our home. Once again we had several bids and their price was very competitive. Again, they arrived on time and were very neat, saved all of our moldings, creatively fixed problems without charging extra and finished the job about on time. There were 23 windows in all. They were able to save all the cedar shake and interior moldings were saved. Very little interior touch up painting needed to be done. Tony and Marco were a pleasure to have in our home. I will need siding in the next few years and I will definately call John and his crew for an estimate.

They were reliable and professional; and did a very clean job. Clean-up was also thorough.

From our initial call for an estimate to the last day of work, everyone at A-1, was prompt,courteous, and professional. Tony, the foreman,stopped by each day of work. Marco and his crew .were meticulous in their work. It's an older garage and definitely not level but the crew took their time and did an excellent job. If we ever need more siding work or roofing, we would not hesitate to call A-1! We highly recommend them!

Jon arrived for the estimate on time and was very courteous. We went up on the roof to discuss the leak and the steps I had taken previously to try and fix the problem. We decided on patching 2 vents that were close to each other. We also talked about replacing older gutters and installing new, seamless gutters and leaders. We agreed on the price and scheduled the job. It was split into two separate visits; one for the roof and the second for the gutters. On the day the crew came to repair the roof, the team got to work immediately and the roof was patched within a few hours. The entire area was cleaned up after the work was performed and looks great. So far, no leaks!! We weren't home for the day the gutter team came by. The new gutters look great and they removed all the old gutters, leaders and debris. I highly recommend A-1 to others and would consider them first for any future projects!

A-1 Roofing is A-1 in my book. John's professionalism sold me. A-1 wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive estimate I got, but I knew from the presentation that they would stand behind their work and they lived up to it. Everything went well and only quality products were used. The roof looks great too. A-1 has outstanding service and I would definitely recommend them to friends.

Crew arrived about 8 PM, about 7 of them. Very polite and professional. Of course, it sounded like the sky was falling as they ripped off the previous roof but that's par for the cause. They tore out and replaced 2 skylights also. Base price was very good and reviews were good thru Angies List so I went with them. Unfortunately they did have to replace much more boards than previously thought but that could not have been known until the existing roof was torn off. Johnny (owner) actually worked with me on pricing for those and took off some money) Workers worked hard but had a great comradery together. Job ws done in one day, except for the gutters which was done the following Monday. I did call them back to repair one thing and they responded quickly and came back in a day or so. Pleased with job, would use again. Still waiting for that first torrential rain storm to make sure all is leak proof but otherwise, happy with company.

The job went extremely well, right from my first contact with A-1. The first time and every time I contacted A-1, I actually spoke to a representative. I never had to go through a series of steps to leave a voicemail. The job itself was done in an exceptional manner and the leak in my roof was finally fixed. The roofers were very neat and everything was cleaned up when the job was completed. I would highly recommend A-1 to anyone needing a highly qualified roofer.

A-1 communicated well and was very responsive to my request. They were there for the estimate as scheduled. The crew arrived for the job a bit later than I expected, however they did call to say they were running a few hours late. It was very hot and the bees in the gables were very active despite my efforts to get rid of them the night before. This slowed down the process as the crew had to battle against the bees. At one point I went outside to check the progress and they had the replacement gable vent installed upside down. I mentioned it to the guy in charge and he told me he was rough fitting it. I know they fit the cutouts as I already replaced two of these gable vents myself and if it was a rough fit why not put it in correctly the first time? Good thing I caught that otherwise they would have had to do it again. I know it wasn't a rough fit. It was nailed in and I caught his mistake. I think he said rough fit out of his own embarrassment that he had it upside down. One of the aluminum gable trims they made, while cut long enough for adequate coverage was installed so it could possibly collect water. I pointed that out and was told it's fine. Well I don't think so since gravity will allow water to run down behind it and the purpose of the trim is to keep water out. They were also supposed to re-nail all the aluminum gable trim on all roof angles. They didn't do that because of the bees and nobody from A-1 has contacted me to see if I was satisfied with the work. I would still like the gable trim nailed in so I don't have the problems I have had in the past with the aluminum blowing off in a storm. Nailing all the pieces was part of the deal and A-1 did not complete the job. My disappointments with A-1 are, so-so craftsmanship, making up excuses (I'm not easily fooled), job incomplete and no follow up phone call from A-1 to see if the job was done to my satisfaction.

I got a few estimates for the same work from 5 companies on Angies list and they had the best price by a couple of hundred of dollars. I got an estimate on June 4th, signed the contract the next day and the fan was installed the day after. The workers came on time, introduced themselves and explained how it all worked. They carted off the debris, added new shingles by the fan and water sealed it. They company stated they didn't do electric but since I had the power already ran they hooked it up for me. The job was done with in a couple of hours, I can't hear any noise from the fan, and my house has been a lot cooler. Will be using again in the future.

The experience was remarkable. I almost did not seek an estimate from the company because living on the north shore, one learns to avoid most north shore contractors - there's almost always a significant increase in price. We got several estimates prior to meeting with A-1 and had a variety of experiences that are not worth mentioning, but that generally involved too much drama, scare tactics and manipulation to persuade us to make our decision based on those scare tactics - and these were established companies. A-1 came, left a full estimate (it was the ONLY company that would leave its estimate complete and in writing, with every detail of the proposal outlined). Reviews, insurance information, product information, EVERYTHING was included in the packet we were given. The only unknown was how much plywood we would have to replace and the company was willing to negotiate that price and give an upper cost limit that made its bid lower than any other we received. In return, we got better materials, a higher level of GAF warranty and a 12 year guarantee from A-1 that no other company came anywhere near offering. The owner, his sons, his crew, the receptionist - everyone was professional, AVAILABLE and very reassuring. Now our roof has been in place for almost 2 months. It looks great, no problems, and we know if we ever do need assistance, the company is just minutes away. It is so great when you come away knowing you made the the right decision! Thank you!

When one of the owners, Anthony, came to look at our roof and give us an estimate he said that it could last us a few more years; the house was built in 1988. We decided to replace ii anyway. They worked with us to pick the best day for their and our schedules. They came right on time and the crew were all nice and respectful. The new roof looks great. They put in pitched venting which conforms to the latest recommendations. They also made sure that the new gutters faced away from the foundation, which the original builder did not do. A-1 Roofing came highly recommended by a friend of ours who is extremely knowledgeable about houses and who also does a lot of his own work in and around the house; one of his projects entailed installing a new kitchen. About eight men started by ripping off the existing roof. They put down drop clothes to catch the materials as it fell. 2 men were on the ground cleaning up and finding all the nails and debris that the drop clothes missed. They fixed the cracked beam in the attic, replaced some of the plywood. Put down ice and water sheild and new shingles. Also added flashing around the chimney. Only took about 5 hours for the entire job. Very professional and easy to contact.

When going ahead with major renovations on your home, you want to be working with a company that is professional, caring, respond to your needs and will make the experience as easy on you as possible. I found all these qualities and much more with A-1 Roofing and Siding. After meeting with several other companies, I just knew after talking with John, that A-1 was the company I wanted to do the work on my house. We are so excited and pleased with all of the work done. Everyone from management through installers treated all phases of the job with professionalism. They showed up each day at 7:30 and would go over what they expected to accomplishment that day. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed in a polite, friendly manner. The foreman Tony would go over with me how certain things would be done..such as window trim etc, make suggestions but always ask if I agreed of had any other thoughts. I went with his suggestions because I saw early on, he knew what would look best and gave every attention to detail. Each day they would clean up the entire area and you would hardly know they were there, they would then come to me and tell me what was planned for the next day. The workers on the job were the same each day and always friendly, polite and willing to answer any question we had. Even in the planning stage of the job, any phone call was promptly returned and Tony came out early on to go over the job, take measurements and talk about what we wanted done. During the on going job, someone usually John, would stop by and check in with us to see how things were going. The job was started and completed in a timely manner, within the time frame originally given. It was a pleasure to do business with A-1 Roofing and Siding and we received what I consider to be the best job possible, done by people who really care and take pride in their work. I had neighbors stop by to tell me how beautiful my house looked and ask for A-1s number, which I gave them willingly and also told them how pleased I was with everything about the company and the job done. I am very particular about how my house looks and I couldn't be happier with the outcome and highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you John, Tony, Bryan, Marco and all the other workers that were on this job!

They were here on time and surveyed the roof area in question from the attic to determine where leak was. They repaired the leak by ripping off a 3'x3' area of shingles and putting up an ice shield and new shingles. Have had a hard rain since the repair and no more leaks to date!! Would not hesitate to call them again.

Very professional crew that arrived on time and completed the roof job in one day and the gutter and leader the following day. Clean up was superb and our yard was actually cleaner after they had finished. Very detailed estimate on each item and no surprises. We had difficulty getting our mortgage company to release the remaining funds to pay this vendor. The owner of A-1 roofing willingly worked with us on this. Met the owner during this, very professional and courteous. Would definitely recommend this company and I would use them again in the future. Pricing wasn't the lowest, nor the highest out of the four estimates that we obtained for this job.

A-1 Roofing & Siding of L.I. Corp. talked to me, didn't spend as much time, just on the job which is fine. He was a little higher on the price. I would refer them.

I contacted the provider by email and they responded back pretty quickly by saying that they were unable to accept the job because of the fact that they were flooded with work since Hurricane Sandy. This is completely understandable and actually speaks well of them because it means that they aren't going to simply subcontract out to inferior workers in order to be able to meet rising demand. Of course, this also meant that I had to locate and hire a different contractor to do the work, which I did via Angie's List.
