+ -1 moreThey were very thorough. They weeded all of my shrubbery and flower beds. They mow and bag the grass, which my previous lawn mowing company did not. They believed that mulching the clippings into the lawn was a good thing. I believe it clogs up the grass and makes for more thatching and aerating each year. but there seems to be various opinions about that. In any event, I'd highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Spring cleanup and first mowing of the season.

+ -1 moreVilla and Sons is completely professional and reliable, and the yard always looks fabulous. Their price is higher than some others might charge, but in the past I have hired cheap garden maintenance guys who have been unreliable and unprofessional and who did not do all the little things like weeding. Villa and Sons come with a big truck and a whole crew of guys, spend ~45 min at my property, and leave it looking great. They are super friendly also and always make a point of smiling being nice to my kids. I feel like I am paying more but getting my money's worth.
Description of Work: Villa and Sons does all the maintenance on my 0.3 acre lot. They mow, edge and weed the flower beds, clean the gutters, prune, treat the lawn, do a Fall and Spring clean-up. I basically do nothing to maintain the garden - they do it all. They charge me a flat $160/month ($1920 for the whole year) and simply come whenever necessary to do whatever is necessary according to the season. They come often in the summer and not at all in the winter. They have worked for us for the past 10 months.

+ 0 moreVery good experience. Contacted me shortly after I called, and gave quotes for both seeding and sod. Did a full walk-through of property to assess needs. Continues to provide us with weekly mows and periodic fertilzer treatments.
Description of Work: Had lawn reseeded after prior lanscaper performed badly. Also did pruning and has done mowign this season. My only complaint is that they did not recently put up the lawn signs for fertilizer applications after a recent application. Prices are good and work is very reliable.

Description of Work: Hired Villa twice. Once to do general yard clean-up plus tree trimming, next to put in a drainage pipe from my back gutters leading away from the house to eleviate flooding problems. Yard work and tree trimming was excellent and the drainage has worked out well so far.

+ -1 moreThey do a good job. On one occasion, one of their mowers chopped the head off of one of our sprinkler heads. They replaced the sprinkler head within a couple of days. When we call them, they always get back to us.
Description of Work: VIlla and Sons have been mowing the lawn weekly at our house for the last two years. Their weekly rate is $140 for 4 visits a month, which after taxes comes out to $150.33. They also do a spring cleanup, clean the gutters, and collect all the leaves in the fall (they charge extra for that). Once, after a massive storm in March of 2010, we asked them to come up to upright some of the tress that had upturned. They arrived within the hour and got to work. They charge us $100. The trees are straight (even straighter than before), and they have remained so for the last three months.

+ -1 moreVery good work. Area covered is 3/4 acre. Needed reminding a few times on tasks too detailed to specify in contract, but this is normal in the course of the year. The company was always very responsive to any requests that I made during the year. The company also provided very good snowplowing service.

+ -1 moreThe services were performed as expected. The shrubs are no longer overgrown, the flower beds are free of weeds, the dead growth is gone, and the lawn looks good. We haven't received our bill yet, but I assume the one-time clean-up will cost $160 as agreed upon and the ongoing maintenance will come to $160/month as agreed upon.
Description of Work: I left a message with Villa & Son Landscaping for an estimate for regular lawn mowing and yard maintenance. Albert called back promptly and came over the next day to review the property with me. As the shrubs were overgrown and the flower beds were weedy, we agreed that a clean-up was in order in addition to ongoing maintenance of the lawn. Albert promised an estimate later in the week and dropped it off the next day, sooner than expected. At $160 per month, plus a one-time fee for the clean-up, it was more than fair, compared to what another gardener had asked for. I asked Villa to start work right away.

The problem is that it would have taken me maybe 1 hour to put everything in the truck (if I had one) and then drive it about 15 minutes to the dump. However, I was charged for 8 hours of work and plus $150 for the dump fee. This is why I went to Angie's list. I constantly get these lawn guys who claim things take a rediculous amount of time. I was hoping to avoid this kind of thing, but just found another rip-off.
Description of Work: Took extra bags of cement and some broken cement to dump.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. They worked hard and got more done than I expected. The most impressive part was they brought their own sprinkler repair kit. All other vendors that have worked in my yard have broken a sprinkler line. I then have to call the sprinkler company to come out to repair the damage and that is an expensive repair. While Villa did break a line, they repaired it themselves. That showed that they understood how to do the job well.
Description of Work: Planted several shrubs. Moved several shrubs. Kept up planting beds.
