My experience with them was very good. They came and they finished on time. They were pretty neat, and the job was good. I would use them again.

They were polite, friendly, contentious and do the job. They are prompt with their services. The office staff (Pam) is very professional, courteous and puts you at ease immediately. She treats you like a true friend.

No good. Never responded to my request for a site visit.

Working with this company has been an absolute delight from the initial contact. Their professionalism, integrity and performance far surpasses anything I have experienced. The house looks beautiful, and their respect of my home was evident in how they left it every night. When changes needed to occur - about paint colors, house availability, anything - they were consistently gracious and made it work. The work was done a day earlier than expected as they took it upon themselves to work over the weekend. This is a company I will happily use whenever the opportunity arises - and highly recommend to anyone needing their services.

Work was estimated for 6 days, but was completed ahead of schedule, and done in 5 days. Workers worked diligently, even through the weekend, to complete the job before my move and meet my tight timeline for this project. Will highly recommend and use them in the future. Condo looks great and will provide pics to this site.

J & S promised that we would not see any seams, cracks etc. when they were finished. I 1/2 believed them because we had other painters in and the cracks re-appeared. Well it's been 6 months, the heat of the summer and hurricane like weather and we still have no cracks and I enjoy sitting in my peaceful, smooth-walled rooms! They were extremely professional, conscientious and courteous. I will be hiring them again and would refer them to any family member or friend. You can't go wrong with this company.

J and S Painting is a top notch company! I would absolutely recommend J and S Painting Plus and would use them again! Jay of Jay and S Painting Plus was our point man on this job and he was the reason we hired his company. From the moment we met Jay he was professional, interested, calm, and most importantly interested in working with us to do the job, WE were interested in doing. He goes about the estimate the right way, working with the customer to make them feel that he is interested in accomplishing their task. He described all services thoroughly, discussed starting and finishing dates with us and his office was very good about communication at the outset of the job. He also was very fair with his pricing. We had gotten some ludicrous estimates, but Jay was really reasonable and worth the price. When the job began and throughout, his workers were puntucal, committed to the job and were very pleasant to deal with. The reason for the B ratings were due to the fact that the job did not finish as we had scheduled. BUT, Jay worked with us to resolve all issues, personally got involved with his partner, to address scheduling so we could get the job done and made sure that everything we had asked for was accomplished. More importantly, we felt that Jay was committed to getting the job done right and for that I commend him and his team. He even double checked with me at the end to make sure I was satisfied and offered to do anything we needed so we were happy. This is a testament to him, his company and the integrity with which he runs his company. My suggestion would be to communicate to Jay and his team that customers can be understanding and that if something does not go according to plan, be direct with the customer right away and anyone who is reasonable will be able to adjust. J and S Painting Plus is highly recommended!

They were very professional. We were very pleased with their service. They hauled everything away, and were very clean throughout the process.

This was overall a great experience. Jay was on time for the estimate and was very professional in the way he presented himself and the company (we received a folder with all of his references and information). He wrote up a comprehensive estimate and explained all the work that would be done. The job start and end dates were as discussed and the house looks very nice. It is a huge difference from before.

I called on Saturday requesting an estimate for wallpaper removal. My call was returned on Monday, so they did at least respond reasonably promptly. I have many rooms of wallpaper that I'd like to have removed, but I wanted the estimate broken down, because I wasn't sure my budget would allow me to have all of it removed at once. The woman said they'd need a minimum of five rooms. So I agreed to get the estimate for five rooms (there are six altogether, and three of them are large), but that still wasn't good enough. She said she'd have to decline the job, since I wanted wallpaper removal only and not painting as well. The woman was polite in speaking, but I find the huge-job requirement offensive. They say they perform wallpaper removal, but apparently they'll only do it if you agree to hire them for other services as well. So don't bother with these people unless you are planning to hire them for an enormous job and spend megabucks and don't mind dealing with people with that policy.

I found them on Angie’s List. They did a very good job.

Project went very smooth;y. Care was taken to prevent damage to shrubbery. All debris was cleaned up and taken away Workers were extremely courteous and considerate.

Excellent-Owner Jay, gave detailed estimate and prompt starting date. Office support and communication was very efficient.Job progressed smoothly under Jay's close supervision.Couldn't be more pleased, or offer a higher recommendation.

They took care of all the issues that we had. They did a great job.

We are happy with the work. Not big stuff, but enough to know that when we do have big stuff we will call J & S. They were prompt, listened to what I needed and took care of business. The work was professionally done. They are painters, not just guys painting.

Power washed house, washed all windows inside out painted front and back porch and did general repairs as needed.

Jay came out to give an estimate quickly and started the next day. He charged exactly what he estimated and his team did an excellent job painting our home and repairing all wall damage. They really went above and beyond my expectations and were much less expensive than the other quote I received (by about $2000)! I would absolutely recommend and use them again.

The owner had some kind of a medical problem and so he was unable to supervise his workers. They do whatever they promise. There was one issue in that, I have an old house with cast iron radiators and I had told them that they would have to use specific paints since I didn't want the radiators to start peeling. They started peeling by winter and this has created a problem for me. They were very good with whatever they had promised, but there was this issue. I will have to move everything and arrange things again. They have a warranty period and I will have to look at their contract. They came when I called them and everything was okay but it created this extra problem for me. I think that the workers went slack on their work due to lack of supervision and I am not going to penalize them for it. The price was fair. I had to give them a minimum of four rooms for them to come and I gave them four rooms. They did great with three rooms that just needed regular plastering and painting. I had wanted one room to be done in painting that is in couple shapes. They had told me that they knew how it is done but I found that their painters were not expert. They kept shoving a little bit of paint on the wall and I told them that it was not the way it was supposed to be. I had to finally take the sponge and brush and teach them how to do it. I even had a booklet that showed the technique of doing it. They did kind of sloppy work and it is not what I wanted. I had provided the paint and the glazing and whatever they needed but I don't think that they even used the glazing. They are good for regular painting, but if the customer wants something different, I don't they are qualified for that. I might use them again if it was just for regular painting but not for any fancy painting.

For this job I've reviewed 8 companies and 6 actually gave a quote. Jay from J&S Painting Pro was very insightful when sizing up the job and gave me a quote on the spot unlike most of his competitors. Moreover, he was able to start the job immediately and finish it on time - unlike any others. Lastly, as a great surprise, the price he quoted was at least 40% under most of the competitors. It was so low in fact that I was worried for a moment: if a price is so out of whack vs. the average there must be a hidden risk. Later I got a few quotes that were closer to his, but nobody got even near beating him. What made the experience special is the service: not only they have worked through the weekend to make the schedule but it was over Hurrican Irene (which hit our area pretty badly) and we lost power for days. They brought along their generators and kept working against all adverse conditions. They finsihed on time and we moved in as per our plans. Later examination brought up a few small issues which were corrected immediately, free of charge. We were so happy with the experience that we've just hired him for another job recently.

The owner, Jay, came on time and gave me an extremely detailed proposal covering all that they would do. They came to do the work in less than one month, although the poor workers started and worked the week it hit over 100 degrees here. They were always on time, and except for a few smooshed plants in my garden, were most careful. During the prep work they spotted some rotted wood which had to be replaced, but the work and cost only added $500 and needed to be done anyhow. In addition, the head of the crew, Edgar, spotted a color error I was about to make and gently asked me if I was sure the color he started (on the cinderblock area) was correct - which it certainly was not! He found the right color and it looks great now. He also figured out a way to fix a leak from the roof into my gutter that was dripping onto the deck, at no extra charge. The deck was power washed and sealed and looks quite different from the green slime coated version before they came. Jay came and we did a final walk through and at every step he was courteous and concerned that the work made me happy. I have already recommended them to a friend.

J & S was prompt in responding to my request for an estimate and providing the estimate. Their price was not the lowest bid I received but it was perfectly in line with expectations and was certainly not the highest. I never take the low bid in any case. The office, overseen by Pam, worked well to coordinate communication and Sheki, who estimated and oversaw the job, was always professional and polite. The painting crew worked diligently and we also extremely professional and polite. The work was interrupted a few days by rain but J & S stayed in touch and returned promptly to continue work once the sun was out. The house looks great. The workers were careful not to drip paint or spray in the wrong places and, with the normal few mishaps, they cheerfully removed any spills. They cleaned up well after the job and, except for the neatly painted house, you would never know they had been there. Sheki encouraged me to contact them in the future should we need any spot painting which they would do at no charge to keep the job looking good and to make it last longer. I am very happy to know a good quality painting company and will use them again.

Not reputable people. Owner Jay Gisonni brought an unlicensed contractor to perform the preparatory exterior work needed before his company could commence painting. The workmanship of the unlicensed contractor brought into the project by J&S Painting owner Jay Gisonni was very poor. The unlicensed contractor took payment upfront for work that was never completed. When we tried to reach Mr. Gisonni in order to discuss and resolve the issue, the J&S Painting office manager (Kathy) hung up the phone on us. We tried reaching Mr. Gisonni through e-mail, cell phone messages as well as through his office in order to resolve the issue we were having with the unlicensed contractor he brought onto the job. Mr. Gisonni made a personal recommendation about the unlicensed contractor which he highly recommended and represented as being reputable and licensed. Mr. Gisonni never responded to us even though we were assured by Pam in the J&S Painting office that he had received our messages. I would very strongly recommend finding another painting company to work with. We are currently working through the BBB and Department of Consumer protection to try and get some resolution as well as our money back. Mr. Gisonni has been completely unresponsive and unprofessional. Beware of J&S Painting and owner Jay Gisonni. Member Further Response to Company Comment (July 11, 2011): J&S Painting Plus did not perform any work for us because of the fact that they brought to us and into our project an UNLICENSED contractor who took our money without doing the work. Because of this poor recommendation and service from J&S Painting Plus, it was us who decided to not proceed with J&S Painting Plus and not Mr. Gisonni as they claim. The J&S Painting Plus response is inaccurate in order to justify the fact that they brought an UNLICENSED contractor into the project and now do not want to take any responsibility. The Contractor was NOT licensed. That information was provided to us by the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection. In fact, we met with the contractor after we were informed by the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection about his lapsed license and the Contractor explained that he lost his license in March 2010 (over a year before Mr. Gisonni brought him to us) because he did not keep his insurance current. I called the Department of Consumer Protection again after reading the J&S Painting Plus response and they again confirmed that the Contractor is NOT licensed and has made no current attempts to have his licensed reinstated. Our repeated calls into J&S Painting Plus (which J&S contends were annoying for them) were the result of the fact that Mr. Gisonni never had the courtesy to return any of our calls. There are many other painting companies in Westchester County who do not receive ANY bad grades on Angie's List. My grade was not the first bad grade against J&S Painting Plus. Ultimately, it is up to you, the consumer, if you think it is worth the risk of engaging J&S Painting Plus. I am just trying to save others the same cost and frustation that we have had. The Contractor they recommended was and is NOT licensed and we are working through the BBB and the Department of Consumer Protection as well as other legal agencies to get our money back. The Contractor, who J&S Painting Plus says that they have worked with for over 20 years, took our money and never returned to finish the job. I have had 3 new contractors (all from Angie's List with no bad grades) come to look at the work that the UNLICENSED contractor did. All 3 have verified that the work performed is of very poor quality and needs to be redone in addition to being finished. Good luck if you choose to work with J&S Painting Plus. When they get a bad review they blame the customer. Save yourself the trouble (and money). Go elsewhere.

I think they were very good and I'm very happy with their work. Sometimes I've thought that I should wait a little while in case they were things that I needed to fix and see how their service was. They were pretty good and I'm very happy with them. They weren't very punctual but they did the work very good. I had a painting job done and everything is good. If I had any minor problems, they said they would come back and fix it if it really bothered me. There is some bubbling in the paint but I haven't called them to come and fix it yet. I don't know how professional their service would be until they do that. I'm happy with the way everything came out including their work and them. Actually when I call them to have a certain little things taken care of I feel their service would be good and they would take care of it for me. Otherwise they are good and I'm happy with them. I'm very happy with Angie's List.

We were extremely impressed with their level of professionalism from the start. They were very eager to please. They were polite and respectful, kept all initial appointments, took time to go around the house with us to inspect the work that needed to be done and they answered all of our questions and concerns. They started work when they said they would. There was a crew of about 4 to 5 men. The carpenter who did the wood work for us was knowledgeable and skilled. The owner of the company came by the house each day to check on the progress of the project and to update us. They did quality work neatly, quickly and painlessly. We found them to be honest and competitive in their pricing. We are very happy with the work they did for us and will certainly use them again.
