J & S Painting Plus Inc

My mother's house was painted by J&S in September, 2014. It was a real challenge since it is an 80 year old house with a cedar shake exterior. The result is a brand new looking house. The work required a lot of time and "elbow grease" since much of the prep work had to be done by hand. The workers did a remarkable job in the preparation for the final painting. There was a language problem in the beginning but after my mother spoke to the boss, Jay, the problem was resolved by having at least one worker who understood English. My mother and I definitely give J&S 5 stars.

Jay and his crew arrived on time, as promised. He introduced me to the foreman, then walked me around the house to make sure I understood exactly what was being done. During the week of work, Jay returned periodically to check on the progress and make sure I was satisfied. The crew was efficient, courteous, professional, and neat. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day and stored the paint cans, brushes, etc. inside my garage. Jay has an amazing work ethic. He is friendly, punctual to a fault, and flexible re: adding items to the job. He left both me and my house smiling.

We got 3 estimates for the painting of our house in Greenwich Ct. and J.S. Painting had the best price of all 3 companies. Not only they did a fantastic job but they did it in a record timing. I was skeptical at first but when I came to see the progress, I was very impressed. We had to paint 4 bedrooms, living room, 2 dining rooms, a family room, kitchen, hall way, 4 bathrooms and the house has lots of trim. Trim takes lots of time and a careful painter. They used the best paint and they communicate extremely well. We are very happy with the work they have done. I would absolutely use them again. Naima Shea

Crew arrived on time, explained what they planned to do and the schedule for doing the job. Crew worked diligently and completed job on schedule. Paint job resulted in beautiful house. Work exceeded my expectation.

It wasn't a big job but Jay gave it the importance of a major job anyway. He was punctual and gave us a very clear itemized estimate of the job to be done. We then made many changes to the items on the proposal which he incorporated very quickly. The job was done on time and his workmen were also very very courteous, doing little 'extras' that were not in the original proposal. Jay himself was great to work with. Although I never met him myself, my father was home and had many interactions with Jay. There was never any miscommunication or misunderstanding. The work done was a high quality and Jay himself came to inspect the job once it was completed. There was no 'spilling' or 'spotting' of paint all over the place and they cleaned up after themselves very well. I would definitely work with Jay and J&S again.

They broke an appointment they had made with me saying that they are "too busy" to come over for a job that was less than 5 rooms. This was never told to me when we made the date for someone to come look at the job.

I recently used J&S Painting Plus. I found them on Angie's List. They were absolutely the best. In three days they completed all of the work that had to be done. The employees were hard working, did superior work and cleaned up after themselves. I recommend them highly AAA+++

Called J&S and Sheki was out to my house in a few days. He spent a good amount of time going over in detail what needed to be done. As I was having a party in around two weeks from the start of the job, it was important that they first finish the back of the house and the deck. His men arrived a few days after I gave him the go ahead and as requested, his men focused on the back of the house and they had it completed in time for our party. Along the way, Sheki was always available to answer any questions and his office was always there to take calls. Overall, they did a great job and the house looks great. Sheki reminded me several times at the completion of the job that there is a two year guarantee and if I see any peeling, I should give him a call right away and they will take care of it. This is the first time a contractor went out of his way to remind me of their guarantee. This is a first class operation that completed the job on time and maintained their professional behavior during their time at our house. When they finished, they performed a complete clean-up including washing the exterior of all windows. Their prices are extremely fair and I would definitely recommend their work to anyone needing paint work done.

The whole process went very well. After contacting Jay through Angie's List, he quickly came over to meet with me, carefully inspected the house and provided a detailed estimate. The work began within a few days and finished in about a week. Painters were very reliable, only stopping as necessary for a couple days of rain. Jay gave directions to the job foreman who did a great job of managing the project. All the workers were polite and respectful. The end result looks great!

The price was competitive and fair. The overall quality of the completed work was acceptable. However, the job was painfully dragged out because on many perfectly fine clear days, no one showed up or as often as not worker came sometimes for half a day. What's more, the company and its proprietor, Jay, provided little oversight of the work. Jay showed up only after I complained or demanded to see him or to pick up a check. At one point it was even suggested to me that I tell his employees what needed to be done, as if I was the foreman! The work was done in such a disconnected way that it was nearly impossible to keep track of what had been finished and what had not yet been started. Toward the (merciful) end, I had no choice but to maintain a hawk eye and keep reminding the workers of remaining tasks. Seriously, this job would have been impossible if I had not been retired and able to stay at home. In any case, it kept me largely tied to the house for a month. There was also an unbelievably sloppy mistake. When painting the exterior of double-hung wooden windows (which requires the windows be open to raise and lower the sashes), the painters splashed hundreds of tiny droplets of paint into the house and onto three bookcases (two mahogany, one oak) several custom-made finished wood radiator covers and hardwood floors. Luckily, I spotted this early enough to carefully remove the paint from my furniture (I didn't allow the painters to do this lest they make a worse mess of the finishes). But this took me three hours of meticulous work by me. All in all, although the price was good and the finished job OK, I cannot recommend this outfit. Also, if you do consider them, I suggest insisting on a contract specifying five or six payments linked to the completion of certain tasks -- NOT three payments, one at the start, one at the "midpoint," and one at completion. Once they get two thirds, they may not be in any hurry to come back.

Painted exterior of home, including repairing any wood that needed fixing. Two workers worked meticulously to prime and paint the home. At the end of each day, the crew cleaned up the property before they left. Received multiple quotes from contractors, and decided to go with J&S based on price, responsiveness, professionalism. Owner (Jay) came out to the house to do a thorough evaluation, and provided many refereneces, including a number close by. Two years later, the home still looks great.

Sheki did a fabulous job making the house beautiful to get it ready to put on the market. His painting job was so good that the house sold within 5 days of putting it on the market! It was a night and day transformation, we definitely got our investment back in the price we received for the home. Sheki and his entire crew were very easy to work with, attending to all my concerns. Pam in the office was always pleasant and so helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend J&S Painting to anyone who asks!

The team was punctual, professional, independent and thorough. We were very pleased with the quality of the finished product and with our communication with Jay. We had received three quotes for the same project. Jay's was the most expensive but we had been most impressed with his approach, materials, and communication. He was able to offer us a discount that made it worth it. Our house looks perfect. It was a big job and the team performed well. We had a couple of outstanding questions afterwards and they came back immediately and resolved the issues. The total job was completed within a week -- very easy and satisfying project. We plan on recommending J & S Painting Plus, Inc. to neighbors and friends.

We had J&S paint exterior of the house. 110 yr old home that had not been painted in ~20 yrs, decent amount of trim detail, two story, sears roebuck build. Team also did light carpentry work removing wall mounted AC unit. Team was punctual, neat, and timely. Job started and ended on time and was well done. We have contracted same team to do the interior this fall.

We met with a couple of painting companies to get quotes for painting the exterior of our house and J&S Painting gave us the better quote with better quality paint. We worked with Sheki who managed the project, and our impression from the very beginning was that he is not the type of person who would nickel-and-dime you. He was always very responsive (which is true for the administrative staff of the company as well) and immediately answered any questions or concerns that we had. His team of painters were very professional and hard-working. They did a great job painting the house and made sure that all the windows and surroundings were clean at the end of the job. They even performed a couple of handyman-type jobs for free. We were very happy with the professionalism of the team and the quality of work, and would recommend their services to anyone.

They were wonderful. From the start, they responded promptly and everything went exactly as they promised. I was very impressed with their punctuality, professionalism, cleanliness and overall work. They were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them.

A quick synopsis: the $5,000 job was subcontracted out for $2500, giving the subcontractor every incentive to cut corners! Subcontractor was found to be using an inferior paint, even though my contract stipulated Benjamin Moore. He was cut a break but warned that I would demand to see the paint cans at end of job, but couldn't produce them since he refilled Benjamin's Moore cans with cheap paint. I demanded a full refund, and Jay delivered a check with apology. I then paid the subcontractor's workers so they didn't lose 9 days of pay. It was a nightmare! My pregnant wife needed to go to ER, in part, due to stress from this disaster. Besides never contracting with this company again, I will never allow any painter to supply the paint as part of the contract, and I will make sure that my contract stipulates no sub-contracting.

I met with a number of painting companies and Jay was hands down the most attentive and involved during our first walk thru going over what we wanted. He came back on a few occasions to make sure he understood exactly what colors should go where. Upon starting, jay and his team were on time and extremely efficient. The work was excellent, and jay came back personally to see what touch ups were needed. After completion, he agreed to send his guy back (after our movers moved our stuff) to retouch the scratches at No charge I cannot say enough good things about my experience with J&S, from Jay himself, to the work, all the way to the receptionist Pam who was a pleasure to deal with. Not to mention, despite the excellent service , his price was super competitive and he honored Angie's List discounts without me even mentioning. Anyone looking for painters, I give J&S my highest recommendation.

Jay came on time and gave me a quote which I thought was reasonable for the work to be done -- pulling down wallpaper and painting two small rooms. His crew came on time and finished the work quickly and as scheduled. Only extra was $100 for repairing a crumbly area of the ceiling in one room which seemed fair enough as it was not anticipated. I will definitely use him again. (He also honored the 10% off discount for Angie's list users.)

Jay was very pleasant when he came to give the estimate. After that, you will never see or hear from him again. His secretary is lovely and responsive. The workers broke a clock, thru out porceline light plates that were my mothers and replaced them with cheap 99 cent plastic. The workers were very pleasant but Jay did not respond or reach out when I called to complain.

J&S was extremely professional, timely, and helpful. They were flexible in terms of waiting while I chose the paint colors. I was extremely pleased with all aspects of the service provided.

Wow! These guys did a great job on our home improvement project. Not only did they come in with the best price, they showed up right on time and worked well past 5pm on all of the days they were here. The work came out perfectly, just as we hoped it would. We were very satisfied with J & S Painting Plus and will not hesitate to use them in the future. Highly recommended!!

Their price was comparable to others. From what the workers told me, they do subcontract the work out and their crew can change on each job. They arrived on time and completed the work in about one week. Two crew members completed the work and they cleaned up okay after the job was complete. My experience with them was fine.

Very pleasant, courteous, respectful and prompt about responding to messages, and they did a beautiful job! With the exception of a few small things regarding communication i.e. how many coats were applied/what was completely finished, everything was fine. However, we expected the job-from beginning to end- to be completed in less than a few weeks, but it took longer.
